Time sinks they are indeed, not long sessions of playing but it does add up in the end. Animal Crossing has been a part of my work ritual now since i got it as it is perfect to play during the downtime i get at work.

I got tired of lugging along the books and manga in my backpack, used to bring along couple of volumes every day when going to work and it is just easier to read them on the tablet. Got Zetsubou sensei volumes up until they stopped publishing in english so that makes it 14 volumes.

The few times i have had people visiting they have commented on the bookshelfs filled with manga, most of them thought it was vhs tapes and i had to tell them that it was comics.

They are worth a watch atleast, not great movies but enjoyable. The Ritual is one of those good until the last parts of the movie where it goes downhill. I did watch A Quiet Place recently with my brother so there was alot of picking the movie apart whilst watching it so i think we both share your feelings on that one. Never watched Bird box as it seemed just not good.

Got a few things on the watchlist this halloween season, Channel Zero and then a bunch of japanese horror movies of slightly older vintage.

I was looking forward to the new adaptation of The Stand that is coming later this year but after the dreadfully bad trailer that dropped couple of days ago all interest is gone. You got a big list this October?

This time around i must admit i have not even looked at the chart for the season. If anything stands out later on in the season i might have a look, but it seems like another bummer of a line up.

We are back to the same lockdown restrictions as of this week as Norway again red listed our parts of Sweden due to rise in cases. It doesnt bother me that much at all, i never was much for running around the town and eating out, but i do notice it does irritate alot of my co workers being restricted this way.

Probably the same deal here with the pushed up appointments and also surgeries in general, only emergency and vital operations are carried out at all from what i hear.

Thanks for the condolences and i am sure that it will get better with time.

Not been playing RDR2 yet either, or well i have played the proloque probaby five times now but then not playing for couple of weeks and by then it feels like one has to start over again, hopefully i will find motivation and time to play it soon as i do like the gameplay alot.

I got Animal Crossing for the switch as it seemed like the type of collecting/foraging game that works to play on and off for small pockets of time, got alot of hours into that game now.

Collection addiction is bad for your wallet, i probably dont need to tell you that though. Probably mentioned it before but i have over 1000 volumes of manga at home, it was an addiction for sure when i was collecting, HAD to have all the new releases every month even though i rather read them digitally instead.

Exactly that low budget feeling that added to the enjoyment i got out of Witcher, like a bad enough to come around to being enjoyable for me.

October again as well so it is time for horror movies and series. Have you seen As above so below or The Ritual?

There was alot of paranoia at my workplace as well when the whole deal with lockdowns and such started. When travelling for work to Norway we were confined to our quarters there and not allowed to walk around the town at all. Sometimes during the summer we had to cross the border by car and had to show extensive documentation on who and why to the police guarding the border.

Other than that and the alcohol wipes being everywhere at work i really did not have to self isolate a whole lot for work.

At the start of summer i tried to stay clear of my parents to be sure as dad had some issues with his breathing last winter and mom had just undergone cancer treatment. As the summer progressed though it was clear she was not getting better and did not have all that long left so distancing became less important than trying to be around as much as work allowed.

She passed away a month ago. It feels surreal still and i guess it will for some time ahead.

How has the summer been in England with the Covid and everything that it brought along with it? Quarantine? The most obvious thing here to me was hand sanitizer being everywhere at work suddenly, and also restricted travelling to the neighbouring countries, first summer ever i have not set foot in Finland once.

The issues i am having with fps in RDR2 is mostly my own fault wanting to run everything maxed out just for the sake of it. Game looks amazing and better than console on moderate settings and then runs great on fairly low specced hardware. Not put that much time into it yet as i have been working alot and been sick when not working this last month. Got myself the Switch lite for christmas to bring for work and so on and i been playing that alot instead when sick in bed.

What sort of figures are you collecting? I know some of them can be insanely pricey and have long preorder waiting times. Besides some special edition games here and there my collecting has almost stopped altogether the last couple of years, blown all that money on pc hardware that ages like milk instead.

Seen quite alot of movies and series when sick as well. Finally got around to watch The Shining and followed it up the next night with Dr Sleep, it was obvious that Dr Sleep plays alot on nostalgia and that came on strange for me watching them back to back like that. Watched and really enjoyed Joker, the soundtrack stood out the most for me besides Phoenix performance. Same composer as superb HBO series Chernobyl, been listening to both soundtracks alot since watching Joker.
Last night i watched Ford v Ferrari. Christian Bale never fails to elevate whatever he is in so it was enjoyable. Also watched the The Witcher series and liked the cheesyness in parts of it, wished it had more Cavill though.
Really looking forward to Color out of Space, Nic Cage in something Lovecraft and a poster that reminds me of Mandy, my hopes are high!
Also going to be interesting to watch what becomes of the coming Uzumaki adaptation, the bad taste of that horrible Junji Collection anime still lingers though.

Driest year since i started really following seasons of anime. Probably mostly due to lack of interest from me as otherwise i would atleast have tried harder to catch up on the backlog, but as you said one day.

Most manga i follow now are ones i picked up long ago at this point, not that many new ones at all, atleast none that i can recommend straight up.
The launch left some things to be desired from rockstars side for sure. Most noticable for me was that my pc that is pretty damn up there in specs struggled to get the golden 60fps at higher settings. That was the reason i held out from playing it on console and now it seems one has to wait for new generations of pc hardware to run it in full glory.
So with that in mind i have mostly continued to play Borderlands 3 helping a friend getting the game done with. Oh and new content for Stardew Valley was patched in couple of days ago so i will probably be doing some or maybe alot of that again.

I did watch Pet cemetary when it came out on digital. Did not care for the changes made to the source material and i have grown to really dislike the actor playing the dad. I prefer the old movie adaptation even though it was ages ago i watched it. Heard some people liking the Doctor Sleep movie, but from the sound of it mostly becouse the connection to The Shining as you said, it will be watched when it comes out on digital though.
Really looking forward to seeing the Joker as well. Need to rewatch all of Satoshi Kons movies now that you mentioned Perfect Blue!

Happy horror movie season! October already? This was a fast moving year. Sort of lost the habit of updating my lists on here during the summer and forgot until now. Seen so little anyways this year, and very little really good stuff.
Read more manga than i have watched anime as usual. Also been playing alot more games the past months as a friend and i replayed the older Borderlands titles in preparation of the third one that came last month. Now looking forward to trying The Outer Worlds later tonight, then finally getting to play Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC in two weeks!

I have all but given up on adaptations of other mediums when it comes to streaming sites and hollywood in general. They always have to cut corners and change the story up to much.
On the horror movie season note i have mostly watched old classics that i for some reason or other not seen before. Got any recommendations?
s043uf Jan 12, 2019 4:23 AM
Not seen Death Note. Remember seeing some form of trailer for it and deciding from that to forget it even exists. Cowboy Bebop is on hold still for me. Saw the first episode years ago, got to pick it up again i guess. Probably wont bother with the Netflix version when it comes out though!

Windy here as well lately, bit early in the year as it usually starts storming this way end of march. Had trouble walking to my car yesterday due to the wind making me skid along the ice in the wrong direction, must have been approaching hurricane wind levels it felt like. Only upside is that it is cozy sitting at home in the warmth in front of the computer and listening to the wind howling outside!
Got sick during christmas, first time in atleast 5 years that i was sick for more than 2 days as it took all of the holidays to clear up. I hope it is atleast 5 years now to the next time!

New season of anime starting and my thought is that it seems pretty bleak. Maybe it will give me some time and energy to tackle the backlog atleast. Not very likely though, i often end up picking up something else instead. I was going to finally get around to playing Witcher 3 during December i had hoped but ended up playing another game that steam recommended when installing Witcher updates.
Will you be following any of this seasons shows?
s043uf Nov 21, 2018 9:18 AM
I enjoyed the earlier issues of The Walking Dead but much the tv show the basic storyline seems to in a imbreakable loop and it gets old.

Another western comic series i can recommend in the horror genre is the Lovecraft inspired ones by Alan Moore, "Neonomicon", "The Courtyard" and "Providence".

The snow came and then it went away again. It has been warm for the season up here, last year this week there was multiple nights of blizzard conditions and almost 30cm of snow in a single night, now it is just bare lawns and slippery dark ice everywhere.
I am not much for this season at all, just want christmas to come and pass so the new year can start already.
Not that long left i guess. This week the christmas decorations started popping up in the stores and main streets.

What sort of scary stuff scares you the most? For me it is horror that slowly builds from something you dont even expect to be that scary.

Japanese horror is best best in either manga or actual film form. Anime seems to always get to small budget to make anything worthwhile at all, or the people behind it just not interested enough to make the often good source material justice!
I still dream of Franken Fran adopted with like the budget of an hollywood movie! And given time to the people behind it to make it right!

Ever read any of the Walking dead comics? On the I am an hero note.

Texhnolyze, Lain and Haibane no Renmei are must watches i think. Seen the VVitch? Mandy also sounds very promising and drops soon on netflix.

The darkness has returned indeed, nights with freezing temperatures here now. I welcome this season though. Love all the colorful leaves and the low standing sun at evening coloring the world red! Probably the part of the year i like the most!
s043uf Aug 8, 2018 1:40 PM
RE 7 is the one that has an VR mode i am sure. Basic as the current VR headsets are they still delivers when it comes to horror, even basic early tech demos scared me, RE7 and VR is an no go for me!

I finished it just to see what they did with the source material, lets face it, it willl never get another go unless some Junji fan gets filthy rich and sponsors it all! And low and behold same stilty animation was present all the way through. Only good thing for me watching it was that i had missed one of the chapters they animated.

I am an hero finished better than alot of other zombie stories is what i like to ease my mind with. It seems to me the author did have some larger story in mind but it was cut short, well shorter atleast. Still i liked it okay, imagine if Hiro had died in the ending and that being it? I would probably would had an fit reading something like that.

Seen any of those Netflix OG stuff yet?
And i have seen Split yes, after you posted though so not at that point. Great performance by James Mcavoy and general good suspense movie! 7/10.

How has summer been in Britain this year?
It was hell so far here. Warmest July in recorded history! Not an single night did my apartment temperature drop below 30C. More reasonable since August started though so i am recovering!
s043uf Mar 16, 2018 3:05 PM
Games and other medias are still disconnected from eachother to me for some reason so i manged to overlook them altogheter!
The new resident evil with VR was to much for me as i tried it, most of the horror demos was insanely creepy on VR overall!

So the new year gave us an adaptation of some of Junji Itos works, mostly made in paint and with the same shot just panned over! The show must have had an insanely low budget, sad as i do see potential in it with room for more animation in alot of the episodes!

Seen Annihilation? My Netflix subscription ended day before it dropped so i missed it but heard good things about it!
s043uf Dec 18, 2017 12:45 PM
The last couple of chapters has picked up on the possible outcomes in my mind. Dont know at all where this might end up! Hopefully it will be worthy of how strong the manga started out! Maybe even prompt me into watch the rest of the anime when it rolls around!

Revisited alot of Junji manga as well for the halloween season. Manga is probably the medium that does horror best next to pure text to me! Something about black and white artwork i think.

Finally got to watch It as well. Different feeling overall than the book for me as well. It did come across as an coming of age movie with darker horror moments and R-rated gore sprinkled in.
I was genuinely uncomfortable at the scenes with Stanleys fear, the lady from the painting though. Struck me as very Junji Ito but in live action, still i knew what was coming at every turn, the sound effects always gave away that a scare was imminent.
Pennywise came across as very weak in the end though and some of his scenes could have been edited differently to leave it to the viewers imagination (projector scene could have done without CGI giant for example). Overall not horrible but not deserving of the praise it got. 7/10 Decent!

This season of anime was very stale to me, only watched a few shows and not getting the "wish the next ep airs now" feeling for any of them.
Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou has been fine but nothing stellar to me. Inuyashiki i think i would have loved 2 years ago when i read Gantz by the same author! Now it is okay but not more.

Go to instagram and put in the #Kiruna tag and you get pictures of what i deal with daily. Not to cold so far this winter but alot of snow being this early in the winter though, 20cm in one day two times this month.

Doing anything special for the holidays? I will be off work for both Christmas and New years for the first time in 4 years so i hope to do something fun atleast, nothing planned though, still not at work is enough for me!
s043uf Sep 29, 2017 1:28 PM
Not finished but it it said to have entered the last arc and i still dont like what i read so far. Mystery and feeling of dread it had at the start is just about gone and i find that i really dont care about the people in it anymore, in my opinion the reason for the titans and the city itself should have remained undisclosed.

Watched the last episode of abyss just earlier tonight, sort of what prompted me to log on and rate it. Clear AOTS for me, weak season overall, just some shows i followed mostly for filling deadspots at work.
Not even looked up what is coming in an couple of weeks with the fall season, hopefully atleast a couple of worthwhile shows!

It was fulfilling in the way i did feel rested when i got back to work! Now i am back to the grind just preparing for the winter, hopefully not as bad as last one this year!
Working and studying would not have worked for me at all, atleast it seems that way to me now, i was quite lazy in school, then again i was younger than you are now then.

Missed it on the big screen here, 6 showings i think in 2 weeks then done. So for me it will be one i watch at home, from the testimonies i heard it might be good, lots of people screaming and giggling in the theatre ruins it for me and it was plenty of those apparently.
Read that they might have pressed a bit hard on the jumpscares and loud ominous music to signify said scares.
Still very much looking forward to watch it when the bluray drops next spring!

Got skyward sword second hand as well last week, another game on the backlog pile, does not help that i got my Snes mini today and got atleast 3 games on that thing to play through again! Link to the Past is still the best Zelda game!

Do you get snow at all where you are at? No snow here yet but it will fall any day now for sure, London class fog the last 3 days.
s043uf Aug 13, 2017 11:10 AM
Just got up to speed on the SNK manga earlier this week and i am worried with the direction it is going as well. I actually wonder if it is the translation of the text that makes it seem so abrupt and strange at times! If not the mangaka is trying to cram to much in and doing it with just bad dialogue. I suspect this whole thing will get a very flat and bad ending.

Another slow season of anime for me this summer. Only really following and enjoying Made in Abyss. Got to get around to watch that Castlevania show for sure. Really liked Blame that Netflix sponsored.

Personal life this summer has been very empty i guess, had 4 weeks of vacation and barely did anything of notice, helped mom and dad move is all i remember of any note i suppose.
Ah driving lessons, not my fondest memories. Most people starts out that way for sure. I sucked at driving still when i got my license, it takes getting comfortable and relaxing before you become a "good" driver. Sucks that it is so expensive to get lessons though, i got 10 one hour long lessons for free from the school i attended and still had to take a couple more before taking the exam.

So saturday and sunday for studies then?

I had the big skip in Nintendo games from N64 to Zelda now on the Switch so i thought i have mend it and got a used Wii U with Windwaker and Twilight princess that i am working my way through now!

It’s time to ditch the text file.
