MAL rating 4.94?
20 mins per episode?
What's up with all this art and memes on the internet?
That CG is terrible yo..
I rarely write reviews but I wanted to help people decide whether to check this out or not because that rating doesn't do it justice.
/ So About That CG
First off, most people are getting a bad impression from the CG. I can understand where people are coming from about this. The chase scene in the first episode definitely did not make a good impression on me ( it was the worst scene out of the entire series so far). But after that, I got used to
...
it and found it cute and charming. I think most people that stuck with it can agree. But if you insist on not watching/continuing just because of the CG then that's your decision.
Additionally, some people also get the impression that it's a yuri anime but it's not. It's more about friendship and adventure. While I'm not against yuri, some people seem to dismiss it as a yuri moeblob fest. If anything, it's subtle and certainly not the focus.
/ So What's It About?
Girl wakes up to find out she's in a large park filled with animal human hybrids called "Friends" and goes on a journey throughout the park to discover what animal she is.
Along the way questions begin to pop up. Are there other humans? What's up with this park? Why are there these hybrids? Who is she really? It goes on.
/ So What Do You Think?
I've been enjoying this series a lot and it's definitely worth giving a try if you're into something chill, cute, and funny with some mystery to push it along. The fact that all the characters are based off animals is quite refreshing and makes for unique and charming characters.
Every week I look forward to what new characters will show up and what new clues will be revealed.
/ So ..TL;DR
- Fun adventure with a potentially darker mystery
- A different scenario every episode
- New fun and unique animal characters every episode
- Characters have great voices and personalities that match the animal they're based off of
- Yuu Kobayashi voices one of the characters, it's great if you like her voice
- Character designs are cute and unique, which is why you see a lot of fanart
- Learn interesting animal facts!
- Chill, cute, funny and charming
- OP and Ed are nice
/ So Any Final Words?
I don't expect everyone to like it. But it's worth giving it a try if I managed to pique your interest. ( There's cute girls yo )
The first episode is slow , so I'd recommend watching at least 2 episodes since that's when they start introducing more characters and moving forward.
If you do end up trying it out I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do!
And if you do, spread the word!
If you don't well, good for you.

First Thoughts :
I had high expectations for this Anime. But by the time I finished I was disappointed. I know plenty of other people enjoyed this series but something about it didn't seem to work out.
. What I Liked :
+ Unique and interesting cast of characters. Each character has an amusing personality which makes them stand out from the rest.
+ The whole Shinigami school setting is interesting. At first you'd think it's like Bleach but it's quite different.
+ HD Quality available
+ Funny when appropriate
. What I Didn't Like :
- Initial plot disappears within the first few episodes. Initial plot as in the capture of 100
...
souls.
- Comedy during inappropriate times when it should be serious.
- Plot started to drag 1/2 or 3/4 through
- Some battles are fairly dull
- Some fillers
- Ending and final boss was suppose to be epic but ended up being disappointing.
. In Depth :
I had high expectations when I started watching this Anime. It started off nicely but the plot you initially thought was going to happen doesn't. Even according to the synopsis it seems like the plot is to capture 100 evil souls, but in a few episodes that plot is abandoned entirely ( well I guess I can see why, given the fact it's only 51 episodes ). But after a few episodes that goal is entirely forgotten for the rest of the series and a bigger plot is thrown at them. While the initial plot was forgotten it was still interesting halfway through. I say halfway through since it felt like it was dragging on after a while ( like Death note ). Story aside I found the comedic personality of this show to be somewhat of a flaw. Many of the times it worked but then comedy is randomly inserted in situations when it should of been serious ( Bleach does this, though perhaps not as bad). Some may not mind this but I find it important to be able to be able to take serious situations seriously. This lowered my overall experienced and I couldn't grasp the supposed "drama" that unfolded before my eyes. One of my biggest complaints is the end boss, initially he seemed very mysterious and threatening but with the comedy embedded on him, he didn't seem very threatening and evil compared to the earlier villains. With this in mind, this made the ending quite disappointing, opposite of epic ( Excalibur didn't make it any better ). The ending was fairly cheesy also. In conclusion I felt the series could of been much better perhaps if they didn't sprinkle comedy on everything in sight.

First Words :
- Initially I dropped this series some years ago ( don't remember why ) and decided to pick it back up.
- I find that this Anime is underrated and probably overlooked quite a bit.
- It may seem generic, initially the puppet was what caught my attention. But the more I watched the more I found this series to be unique.
- There doesn't seem to be a plot at the beginning but as the series goes on hints are thrown and it's slowly revealed.
- While it seems completely like a comedy there is a nice amount of drama in it
What It's About :
- Mainly
...
it's a slice of life which revolves around the problems and situations that the student government council has to deal with. But unlike typical student governments they have more power than the staff themselves ( they also have quite of bit of money ), they even have their own Covert and Assault divisions. The fact that they are rich allows for quite a bit of creative and amusing situations.
- While most of it is slice of life, there is a main plot hiding beneath everything. Rino is brought to the school by a mysterious penpal and as the series goes on the motivations and mystery is revealed.
What I liked :
+ A variety of interesting characters while each character gets an interesting background, personality, and story. The series doesn't just throw characters and expect you to like them, they actually make you care about them.
+ Plenty of laughs to go around given the large cast of colorful characters and situations.
+ Each episode is accompanied with a different story ( while slowing revealing the plot ) which keeps it from being repetitive.
+ While it seems to be mainly a comedy it does take itself seriously at times. I found it emotional.
+ The fact it centers around a powerful student council keeps it fresh and interesting. It allows interesting situations not typical in a slice of life series.
+ Instead of slice of life from a student, it's from the perspective of the students that "control" the school.
+ There's actually some nice action going on
+ Cheery feel good Anime like others have mentioned
+ It ended up nicely, though there are still questions that haven't been answered.
What I didn't like :
- The ending somewhat brought up more questions for me. I'd explain but this is a spoiler free review.
- Some questions left unanswered ( like the puppet ).
- The twists aren't that big of a twist.
Conclusion :
I don't have much to complain since I found it to be a heart warming series. It has a more interesting take on the slice of life genre since the student council itself isn't your typical run of the mill student government. Overall I felt this series was definitely worth picking back up and finishing. I recommend this Anime for those who're into a slice of life with a student government twist and a comedy with some light drama.

First, I will state watched this series at least 3 times. You may be thinking I'm quite biased, especially giving it a 10. But that's how I really feel since this Anime always manages to excite me yet give me a wide range of emotions. Mostly excite though ( I find it to be an adrenaline pumping Anime )
. Pros
+ Main characters are well developed and loveable
+ Villains also have depth and are very interesting too
+ Minor characters themselves are unique too
+ No fillers
+ Plenty of comedy to keep it balanced
+ Plenty of action , great battles
+ Never a dull moment
+ Outdated visuals ( it
...
gives it a gritty feel and adds to the experience )
+ Mature theme
+ People actually die
+ Music fits perfectly
+ Good pacing
. Cons
- The main plot can be described in one sentence. Gon wants to finds his dad
- Outdated visuals
- No romance ( you're looking at the wrong place )
. In Detail :
I could go on and on about how great this Anime is but I'll try to keep it short. First, the story. Gon wants to find his father. That's it. While the plot is simple, his journey to finding his father is what makes this Anime so great. I mean, look at One Piece, Luffy just wants to obtain One Piece ( and Naruto wants to become Hokage ), but it's the adventure that counts. I would recommend at least watching 20 episodes ( 10 minimum ) before giving up on the series. While the visuals and quality is dated, I feel this is what gives the Anime an even grittier and mature feel. Unlike Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, not many people die and when sometimes they do they come back to life, here in HxH, they stay dead. This made a difference to me, since I could feel that the characters were in much greater danger and I could take the Anime more seriously. The best thing about the Anime is the characters. You get to know them, understand them, and watch them grow and mature throughout the series. None of the episodes seem to drag on and so you can't help but watch the next episode to find out what happens next. The fights and situations the main characters are put in definitely make this series worth watching. After the TV series the OVAs get pretty interesting to watch too. I highly recommend this Anime to anyone, especially to those who like Bleach, Naruto, or One Piece, this is a better alternative.

Of course this is series is still ongoing so I'll be giving my current impressions of the Anime.
Initially I was skeptical about watching this since it seemed like just another harem Anime thrown at us. But so far I find it quiet enjoyable.
. Pros
+ Not your typical generic harem
+ Has a mature feel to it
+ Nice balance between comedy and drama
+ Unique setting, harem in a rich setting
+ Pleasing visuals which matches the theme and setting
+ Ecchi not over the top ( well most of it is censored anyways )
...
+ Comedy level is just right
+ Potential to get serious in the latter of the series
+ Characters have depth to them
+ Big boobs
. Cons
- Censored ( it can be good too, fanservice can be distracting ).
- Girls a bit cliched ( but the series makes them feel refreshing )
- Will it be able to wrap up nicely given it's only 12 episodes total?
. In Detail :
So far it doesn't seem to be your typical generic harem Anime. I haven't watched an extensive amount of harems. But I found the rich harem theme of this Anime unique. The main character is rich and so are the rest of the girls. While harems are typically comedic this one has a serious tone right off the bat. Of course that doesn't mean this Anime doesn't have comedy ( it is labeled ecchi, though it's currently censored ), it does. I feel that this Anime so far has a nice balance of comedy and seriousness. The series so far seems to have more depth than the typical harem. It takes the characters and plot in a mature way while being able to entertain us at the same time. Something that definitely stood out to be was the visuals which I found very pleasing to the eyes. It fits the theme of the Anime well which I believe greatly enhances the entire experience. While the characters may be fairly cliched ( girl with sword, tsundere, etc ), the way the series currently presents them makes the experience more refreshing. There's not so much to say bad about the Anime, it only just started and I didn't start watching with very high expectations. But so far I'm surprised by how well I enjoy it so far. It seems that it well get more serious in the latter of the series. I'll continue watching.

. Pros
+ Science vs Magic Plot
+ Interesting and likeable characters ( girls )
+ Accidental harem
+ HD Quality
+ Humorous with popular references here and there ( leek )
. Cons
- After Episode 10 it's character development for the other characters
- Not enough time to get back to the main plot ( Season 2 I assume? )
...
- Feels like a giant introduction / setup ( Novel and Manga still going )
- Some characters feel like filler, hopefully they'll have some use later on
. Conclusion :
I like this Anime despite the fact it got off target halfway through. They did a good job of developing the other characters in the show but then by the time you finish the series, you're expecting Season 2. Basically it felt like one giant introduction episode, introducing us to the characters and the plot, but then we never get to the real deal. As you can see, I don't have much to complain, this Anime has potential if they're able to get back to the main plot. I'm expecting them to give us a Season 2 ( I guess if Season 1 did well enough, the novel and manga are still going). It's a nice Anime to watch as long as you're not expecting a great deal out of it ( especially story wise, since it's obviously incomplete ). Perhaps by the time you read this Season 2 will be out. For now you can just await for the "Toaru Kagaku no Rail Gun" side story...
