This fantasy isekai starts with a promising premise, and certainly wows with its flashy animation. However, it quickly becomes clear that the story is more interested in telling jokes than truly engaging with its own themes of being, and loving yourself.
I understand that some of it is satire and the show is certainly self aware and partly paying homage to the classic fantasy isekais such as escaflowne, with nods to magical girl shoujos. I also get that theres a lot of meta level humor and jokes. However, the constant stream of jokes does not pair well with the supposedly serious stakes at play here.

What makes a show truly good? Is enough to simply have impressive animation, detailed world building, or good pacing?
Before diving into that, let's establish a few basic points. Kancolle 1944 is not a sequel to the original anime or movie.
