ok so my final thoughts on sasakoi , it's no secret that the production quality of this anime is really low , although they might have slightly put some more effort into the last 2 episodes , but more than that, I want to talk about the content , what sasakoi is as a story and what it shows and how , it's everything an average yuri is like, and it's what I expect a yuri to be at its status quo, in fact, sasakoi is so much of a vanilla yuri that it could be used as a ground 0 to compare with other

yuri , and this is in no way a bad thing , it's good... but ... it's also a double edged sword, it's kinda basic , and it lacks unexpectedness imo , if I look at what reaction it got out of me , there wasn't that much that made me go "oh yeah THAT I'll remember it" , except maybe for the 2 last episodes that felt like they themselves united were more enticing than the rest of the show, but even past that I knew this was the goal as soon as I understood shio left because she was in love with aki , so much of it is predicting the next scene and waiting for it to happen, it's an average yuri ship chart getting resolved (shaped like a locomotive in fact) , ig shio was interesting but not much else going on for other characters , it's pretty normal , it's okay , I just wished it had a something more going on
the music was pretty alright for the last 2 ep
anime production : 4/10
general contents : a rather generous 7/10 because of ideology points , it would have been closer to 6.5 without it but now that I reconsidered it a bit maybe the manga has a better delivery of that same content in the way it's paced or other factors I can't know about because I didn't read it , in which case that would be only the anime's fault, but I'm not certain, maybe unlikely but I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt
the final result is 10/10 because it's yuri and yuri is life

So this is it I've finally finished MahouAko , what a fucking ride that was, I loved it and it's perhaps one of my favourite manga top 5 for sure, by far it's the one that made me laugh the most, just the overall ridiculousness and unhingedness of it is part of the appeal , kinda in the same vein as nichijou except yuri and lewd and the latter also serves those overall traits imo, like fucking kiwi-chan building a house of cards on top of azul's ass and slapping the fuck out of it everytime she moves so she has to rebuild it everytime,

is the kind of bs that only this series can pull and I'm all here for it , oh and let's not get started on the ships , I love the ships, we have LeoBaiser (my fav) , LocoLeber , BerserShio , Magenta x Sulfur and I love them all, even past the bs of the series they are very worth getting invested into it, this series will be remembered, 100% certain

So , first off , I have a really important question for the creator of this anime : what pushed them to do this ? what were their motivations for starting this project ? when did you decide to start it ? , and to be fair I have a Hypothesis on the answer , and if it is what I think it is then this is absolutely mind-blowing, like my jaw would drop to the fricking floor , like did you do that for the sake of making a yuri anime?
I mean they do advertise it that way , so I have my reasons

to think so , because that would be some absolute sheer dedication , like I thought me going through a 6 months process to take over a 10k subreddit to turn it into Yuri was something but this is on a whole other f*** ing level , I don't know how much time it took you , months ? years ?
either way , and no matter what happens I'll always think highly of your work , because imagine making an anime but you're the only person making it (or at least most of it if you don't count the voices , the music , the sound design etc..) , most people wouldn't be capable of doing such an effort and time-consuming task , which is all the more impressive when you consider the technical skills involved ,
yeah sure some plans and shots are still images and shortcuts are taken like loops and stuff , but all of it is excused when you look at the bigger picture and the circumstances , just know that I was more entertained watching 30 minutes of this than watching 5 episodes of strawberry panic , that means they definitely achieved something here
now I want to go a bit more in-depth about my perspective as the viewer , I thought giving some feedback would be helpful to you , although it is strictly from an amateur's point of view , so these words are to be taken with a grain of salt , I'm not trying to tell how to do stuff and I'm in no position to say that , even if constructive criticism can sound a little harsh but I'm learning art myself and I believe that sometimes receiving tough criticism is actually the most helpful , I am in no way trying to say it's bad or anything like I said I think highly of it, I'm only picking on the things I want to point out :
first I felt like a bit lost from time to time on the development of the story , well you can argue that I'm a bit braindead but I feel like there's a lack of contextualization and characterisation , and yes sometimes it's intentional but here I feel like it's not well adjusted , I'm acknowledging the fact that there's a chapter 2 coming out eventually but you have to anticipate that this is a movie and chapter 2 is currently being funded , so it should have its stand-alone kind of thing going on , even a little bit would be nice just to not have this "throw that in , now figure it out" kind of feeling , like I'm wondering about , fire of life ? interdimensional thing ? what/where exactly am I looking at ? pilots ? apocalypse ? gods/divinity ? shrine maiden ? etc... , all of those things are valid but feels like it lacks some setting up ,
and maybe the animation itself adds to the confusion (but like I said that's not your fault , you're like the only person making the visuals)
and lastly, when you have a close-up on the feet when someone is running like at 1:41, why are the legs so T H I C C ? (nah ok I was joking a bit there)

I want to bring ppl's attention to this manga , because I think ... no joke ... this might be one of my favourite manga like ever (almost) , yes it beats Citrus on the Genuity factor (not saying that Citrus's main "domain of expertise" is genuineness because citrus will stay as fiction obviously) , this is the manga that pushed me in an all-nighter even though I had to wake up early the next day simply because I didn't want to stop mid through and pick it back up again , it was the first time I didn't sleep for an entire night ,

and I have no regrets whatsoever , and don't ask me why it took me an entire night to read 6 chapters , shut up , I'm a slow reader , and it was late , and I had to read 10 times each panel because of it, you see , yes this isn't romance but I don’t care , I like exploring the human psyche , I was mid-way through chap 1 and I was already so intrigued because I was like "HOW THE HELL DID WE GET HERE ?" "HOW DOES SOMEONE DEPRESSED DECIDES TO GO TO THE BITCHES A LOVE HOTEL ?" "WHAT'S THE THOUGHT PROCESS BEHIND IT ?" "DID SHE USE IT AS A ONE TIME TOOL FOR HER PSYCHE OR IS IT A CHANGE IN BEHAVIOR ?" , I just had so many questions , but the thing that struck me the most was how every time something happened I went "Oh my god , that thing actually happened" , I think because of that fact it made it so , so , so much more impactful , like 2000% more impactful , and I got to tell you something about me , basically all of my ratings in lesbian media are heavily influenced by genuineness, it does matter a lot to me especially when it comes to love (tho this isn't the subject in this manga) , that just goes to show how this tiny little thing just has so much power and just blows me out of the water ,
if you told me that citrus was a real story I would fucking EXPLODE in a way that would irreversibly destroy at least 10 parallel universes , in fact the whole reason to why I started consuming yuri about one and half year ago is because I was seeking genuineness, this manga received 2 awards and that's not even enough , this deserves way more , there's also an other thing I wanted to say , she said that she was reading BL (including lewd doujinshi) but she also saw men as "just being naked" and that intrigued as of why she was reading BL , then she explained why , and then I thought it was weird except I'm taking that back , I'm going to slap myself in the face (I just did) , because I absolutely have no right to say that , absolutely 0% , none , I'd be such an asshole to blame that on her , because I would be lying if I didn't say I put weird barriers on myself , I totally understand her from her perspective , it's because she saw men as "just being naked" , that she was being able to watch BL , because she was very anti-sex , and I understand that , it makes sense , from her perspective , I thought it was weird because it was counterintuitive , but I just can't say that because I'm familiar with weird barriers that you put onto yourself , I put an all-nighter to read this and I regret nothing , this was such a good read and jokes aside , I feel for the author.
anyway, if I didn't forget anything I wanted to say (probably did ngl) I'll leave you with these last words :
she's depressed, has an eating disorder, has social anxiety, family issues (kind of) , suicidal thoughts, doesn't get understood by anyone , doesn't get understood by herself , no friends and yet she still manages to pull in the bitches , what about you ? this puts to shame at least 50% or even more of the yuri fandom (I'M JOKING , IT'S A JOKE , DON'T GET MAD AT ME PLS 😭)
