I've heard a lot of people say to ignore the manga and just read the light novels, Sword Art Online, Vol. 01: Aincrad but the thing is not everyone wants to read a light novel, we're manga readers because of the media and yes sometimes there is a crossover but more often than not we only consume manga.
For what this is, it's actually compiled quite well not everything is as fleshed out as it is in the anime, like Kirito's reason for being a solo player and the tension he has with the guilds, Instead this choose to solely focus on Kirito's and Asuna's story
...
which works in it's favor.
The two bond over a cooked rabbit, that Kirito can't cook due to having insufficient cooking skills and Asuna has maxed out hers. From there the two team up on a few questions and we see them slowly build to become a couple. It gets a bit weird when they become a mommy and daddy for Yui and the whole thing happens but it's a sweet enough story and fits the tone of the manga.
That ending is still unbelievably amazing, the whole thing with Kayaba, perfect.

Absolutely love the first season of Ultraman, before that I had never heard of the character. The whole arc with his son taking up the mantle and living up to his father reputation, was wonderfully executed.
The thing with season 2 is that, the protagonist isn’t the same, the guy we have followed this far has been incapacitated. His father puts on his suit again and I expected him to kick some ass but no instead he’s a background character throughout season 2.
So it’s up to the new Ultraman to take down the big bad and save the day, normally I’d consider it a

spoiler but they literally show all the Ultraman in the opening credits. I like the shtick with the disappears in New York and then Japan, making the other Ultraman cross borders. Taro is also quite an engaging protagonist, having a love life already establish and his power suddenly flaring up, it’s cool to have an Ultraman who can do stuff without the suit, he only uses it to control his powers better as they’re new. Jack on the other hand whilst added a much needed levity to the series, never really gets a chance to shine.
There’s a bit of change of pace halfway through, with the big bad revealing himself and threatening to end the world. Add a kidnapping to the agenda and it goes full force, I’ve heard a lot of people says this cuts a lot out of the manga arc but as I haven’t read it I cannot compare it. I will say it didn’t feel as if anything was missing, even through it was a much shorter season it felt natural. The pacing was good, the way the plot developed was excited, I watched the whole season in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’m not into sports but something about this just intrigued me, the majority of this is really good. The quality drops halfway through when the tournament starts, I thought the first half with the friendly battles was much more intense. It was also a lot more character driven, the latter focusing more in the game, think they play it for about 4 episodes straight which dragged on. There was a really good episode in the latter half called “ Senpai's True Abilities” which changed it up making the story more character focused again. The latter half also build up so many competitors that you kind

of knew how it was going to happen as well. Also for some bizarre reason they give Kageyama a flashback to establish his history with someone, that could have worked but given he met that person in episode 7 and they didn’t even greet each other, it just felt very forced and out of place.
What I really liked about this series, is the characters they’re all fleshed out and are a bunch of lovable losers, in their own right. I hope the next season is a lot more like the first half and focuses more on the people instead of the game.

Before I started this series, I tried to read the manga. It was very confusing as if things happened between panels with no explanation, the series is much more streamlined. There was never a point when watching it that I was confused, it did leave a scene that happened in the manga out though.
It was from the first volume, where they have dinner, just felt a bit weird to be left since everything else was adapted.
I really enjoyed the show, it was very character driven with cool action scenes. I love the fact that main guy doesn’t do much and basically gets a

harem, thankfully it’s not the annoying kind. Each girl brings something to the table and their interactions are quite amusing. The action scenes where good as well, most of time when you get a series animated like this, the fighting losing the weight and impact but that never happened in this. There are a few red shirts in this, so when it comes to people dying that can be a bit predictable. There are some very good twists in this as well, the ending was especially good. It had a finale about it but wasn’t definitive, which a lot of other series have a habit of doing.
I’m really glad that I decided to watch this anime, the manga left a bad taste in my mouth but this was awesome.
