This is a must-read for avid rom-com readers. It has everything: comedy, drama, romance, as well as the thrill of mind games and mystery to a certain degree. And of course, the main appeal of this series is that it's very self-aware, and parodies the genre a lot, hence why this should be read if you like rom-coms.
The interactions between the characters, as well as their evolution, is captivating to read. The plot is also a big part of the story and keeps you on your toes constantly. I'll say that some volumes (or some POVs) may be a bit more boring compared to others,
...
but in the grand scheme of things, they all are essential to the story and rewarding once you reach the conclusion. The ending is satisfying with few loose ends, there's even a short story afterwards. I'll say that some characters were developed a little less by the end, or in general less interesting overall. That's valid for a minority of characters though, and surely you will find them very likeable.
Do pick this up if you want a novel twist on the rom-com genre.

This is the thrilling coming-of-age story about Akuto Ikurumi, the son of a politician, leaving everything behind in order to become a voice actor talented enough to stand next to Nari Harusaka on equal footing.
The story has it all, suspense, comedy, growth, and even romance with a very lovable cast that you will want to root for. The main character has a strong backbone with a softer heart inside. Witnessing his growth and how he influences other characters was really entertaining. The other characters all have their own personality too, and even the ones I initially disliked became very likable by the end.
The conclusion was
...
very satisfying too, with most loose ends tied up. I would have enjoyed a longer epilogue, but this is already a very solid ending compared to other manga which start off strong but fail to conclude.

Came for the premise, stayed for the "plot"
On a more serious note, I feel like this manga greatly wasted its potential. Though let us begin with the positive points.
The art is pleasant to read and the characters are all extremely cute. And no, I am not talking about the suggestive scenes in particular.
The story has a somewhat of a common thread, with a conclusive (?) ending that does not feel too axed? I cannot think of anything else.
As for the negative points, the biggest reproach may be how the plot seems to be all over the place throughout the story. The premise is really interesting
...
and the follow-up could have been so much more compelling if it stuck to solely developing its two heroines, as well as tackling gender identity.
Instead, it introduced unnecessary side characters and love interests, eating away precious pages that could have helped polish the main characters and deliver a conclusion that is not a three pages long time skip.
Speaking of the ending, it is by not one of the worse per se, but the fact that if feels like could have been anybody's game really just means the reader will be dissatisfied, no matter who they were rooting for. It absolutely does not help that everything was decided in the time skip either.
Oh, and if the reader has to read the afterword to understand the conclusion, something must have gone wrong.
At any rate, I am not ashamed to say I mostly read this for Asahi's expressions. As I said, going from the premise, I had great expectations for the drama and romance to sprout. Shame that we did not get see much of that.

The sole reason this novel should be read is probably for the FMC's scheming and nothing else. The comedy aspect is okay, but the romance is really underwhelming. Even though the plot revolves around that, it failed to make my heart move even on the ending which should be seen as quite happy (for some characters).
If you ask me why, that is probably due to the MC, which becomes an insufferable mess past volume one. They managed to strip off the little the MC had for a personality in the first volume, and turned him into a bland, indecisive pushover. This weakens the romance considerably
...
considering it was hard to even fathom how three girls could fall in love with such a nice guy™. The fact that he is even less developed than the girl introduced in the second volume fails to make the reader immersed in the romance, since one party is so lame.
As I said, the FMC's tactics are fun to read, though she was written to have way more means than her rivals. Do not go in expecting actual mind games or suspense.
The other girl is likeable. I like how they gave her a POV after the first volume, highlighting the gap between her appearance and thoughts. That said, her awkwardness was somewhat irritating, though it gets better after her arc.
Finally, the third girl was quite hateful at first, but the author did a great job at making her relatable throughout her arc. That was a pleasant surprise.
To summarise, this novel contains a pretty lame MC, as well as a relatively shallow plot and romance. However, the cat fights and the involved parties' strategies are somewhat entertaining, and the story has a proper conclusion while only spanning three short volumes.
If you are looking for something deep and compelling, or feel like stopping already throughout the first volume, you should probably drop this novel. Nevertheless, if you have time for a quick rom-com based on a silly premise, while still having the experience of a proper full story, be my guest.

Synopsis at the bottom
This is a story about pure and twisted kinds of love, friendship, jealousy, humanity, all of which is nicely packed into a thrilling and suspenseful death game. The premise does sound quite funky at first, and it is, but the more you read, the more you realise there is something more behind such a bizarre setting.
The death game part is extremely captivating, and every arc was full of tactics and twists. The characters and their relationship grow while facing both their extraterrestrial captors' whims, as well as the worst side of humanity, represented by the other students. You will learn to hate
...
herd mentality, as well as people's selfishness. Thankfully, people that should die properly die, and everything is wrapped nicely with no loose ends.
The love aspect really tugs at your heartstrings, where even background characters confessions that span for a chapter make you tear up a little. The drama that comes out of it really adds to the already engrossing setting. I sort of wish the epilogue was longer, with more depictions of how the couples live their lives from now on, but it certainly is conclusive, and it ends on quite the appropriate scene, as far as this manga is concerned.
The characters are great, deep, and make you want to cheer for them. I ended up rooting for the happiness of people that made me recoil at first, which shows how there will be at least some of the cast that you will inevitably take a liking to.
Finally, there is nothing to complain about the art, it is really enjoyable. It is especially amusing how much the way a character is drawn aids when it comes to accentuate your hatred for them...
Do read this manga, it is a real page-turner.
"Mikuni and his two childhood friends, Jiu and Shino, spend their days uneventfully, leading the student council of the Tsukishiro Middle School. Yet, when Jiu's determination to confess to Shino arises and threatens to disturb their harmony, the trio, as well as all third year students, get abducted to a derelict replica of their city. The responsible, an alien that goes by the name of "1st", announces his objective—observing "True Love" by having the students participate in a Love Death Game, where participants have to confess their love in order to leave, while getting rejected also means death."

/!\ SPOILER FREE UNTIL THE BOTTOM /!\
Would you rather have your infatuation fulfilled, even fully knowing it is a lie, or would you rather cheer for their happiness, watching from the sidelines as you are being consumed by the flames of unrequited love?
This is, essentially, a dramatic romance about heartbreak, though it is not quite dark as it could be. There are sprinkles of comedy here and there, and the vampirism feels like a plot device more than anything. It sure was entertaining, but the reader should go in expecting a school life story with a supernatural twist added to it—that does make it more
...
interesting!
What sets this series apart is probably the characters, mainly the protagonist.
I was led to believe at some point that the main character was what we could call a masochist, a cuck, as well as a simp. Though it may be an exaggeration, he does look absolutely dashing while doing it. He sticks to his principles, cherishing what is dear to him, and watching the story unfolds through his eyes makes you absolutely want to root for him, whether you relate or not.
The other characters are well developed too, with backstories to boot, and I could not hate anyone by the end. That said, I am delighted by how the author portrays the love rival as an actually likeable person—that is quite rare! It also makes the protagonist's struggles even more painfully compelling.
I should probably talk about the love interest, which may be on the weaker part of the cast, in my opinion. Her thought process is a little strange at times, and one may even consider her undeserving of the protagonist. No matter how true that is, I do think she is still very likeable, and she also makes for a ton of cute expressions—actually, every character does, even the male (?) characters.
That segues nicely into the art, which is top tier, in my opinion. I have no complaints whatsoever, and it is pleasant to read, the protagonist looks glorious!
The ending may be a wee bit rushed, but it is satisfactory overall. Please do read if you like those kind of romances.
################ ENDING SPOILERS ################
I do not have too many complaints about the ending as it fulfills my #1 requirement being it ending on a happy and unambiguous note.
That said, it could have been a little more satisfying, in my opinion.
Be it the fact that they had to separate for ten years, or the fact that we could not see them going out, or the fact that she never actually told him that she loves him (!), I do wish there could have been something a little more rewarding to see after navigating through four volumes of crushing unrequited feelings.
At any rate, after waiting for ten years for the protagonist's return, it is safe to say that they will be together hereafter and forev—well, until the main character's vampire lifespan inevitably surpasses the other party's lifespan. But that is a story for another time...

Since there is no synopsis at the time of my posting, you may find one at the bottom.
Despite the story being short enough to be read in one sitting, the pacing feels fine and everything ends with no loose ends. The drama is interesting and mostly delves into matters such as working towards one's goal, dealing with envy, and the desire to be acknowledged. As for the romance, it is there, it is wholesome and definitely feels complete; it is not the main focus however. I suppose you call this genre "coming-of-age".
The characters are mostly relatable. The FMC being a manipulative gaslighting specialist for some
...
chapters aside (again, it is a short read anyway), I think that one will find the resolution that plays out from then on rewarding regardless. Additionally, in spite of her questionable personality, she is undeniably cute. That is something to look forward too if you are not a fan of unhinged levels of deception, unlike me. That segues into the art. It is thankfully pleasant to look at, which is appropriate for a manga talking about art.
At any rate, if this manga ever gets translated, give it a shot. Be it that you enjoy art, romance, characters that are always on the grind or straight up sociopathic, I think there is something to be found either way.
"Satake Akihito is a 16 years old teenager who enjoys drawing and uploading his artwork on Hachitter (a slang term for Twitter). Although he doesn't care about other people's opinions, his recently viral drawing has garnered significant attention. Satake greatly admires an artist named Risumaru-san and hopes that Risumaru-san's works can also be seen by more people. However, when Satake sends a message to Risumaru-san, he senses something is wrong. Risumaru-san seems to wish for Satake to stop drawing, which confuses Satake because Risumaru-san had always been supportive before."

Just a quick review seeing as there are no reviews about the manga now that it's finished. I'll keep things as vague in case you'd want to read this despite what's about to follow. However, if you really want to go in blind, don't read this review as you can more or less understand what I'm describing here a few chapters in.
So, the ending sucks. It's not rushed or anything but the hoops the author had to jump through to justify such an ending just leaves to wonder why they even aimed for such a result. To elaborate, we spend close to 35 chapters observing
...
good development with a few hints that all point toward an obvious outcome. Despite all that, the author still decides to throw all of that out the window. Instead of spending the last chapters adding on to that development in order to achieve a conclusive and satisfying story, they decide to swerve violently in another direction while giving out the most illogical explanation as to why that is. Surely it isn't a matter of preferences as many people before me have complained about it.
That really is a shame since it was a really enjoyable read otherwise.
EDIT: It has come to my attention that the author addresses this choice on the last pages of the last volumes. While I still cannot forgive that choice, I do appreciate the author's consideration towards their characters, as well as how they go so far as to explain their thought process. Never did I see this happen, so I thought I would mention it.
