Judging exclusively the anime, it's awesome. Animation, visuals, sound, coloring, etc. Everything is awesome. The big shame is that all of this is spent in probably the worst arc I've ever seen in a major shonen. Villains appear out of nowhere with only a brief appearance on screen with their name, absolute zero buildup, stupid powers, most of them get dealt with in literally two minutes, and almost all of them are extremely unlikeable.
The big bads and the badass Zero squad are also dumb as hell. Things happen just because, with no sense to it whatsoever. The structure of how events happen is awful. And
...
I say this as someone who enjoyed Bleach all the way through the Battle for Karakura arc. This story was a disappointment when I read it in the manga and it's an even bigger one now that it's getting a great chance that, imo, it didn't deserve.

I've been a Bleach fan for a long time, but I was one of those who thought it should have ended right after beating Aizen. It felt like an ending that respected its own storytelling and world, without needless plot twists every single moment. That's when I guess Kubo was pressed to keep on writing, and it shows. I didn't like the Fullbring arc, and I also didn't enjoy what I read of this arc. Every new plot thread was almost completely unforeshadowed, right out of nowhere, and it feels like the series is making fun of its own world that had been so interestingly
...
set up in the beginning (especially the Zero Division, I really hate that they're such one-note characters and so extremely and unnecessarily wacky).
Nevertheless, this season was a treat to watch as a Bleach fan. From the animation, to the remixed OST, the opening and the ending, everything feels like so much care and attention was taken to make this. This was made by Bleach fans, for Bleach fans. And it kinda made me enjoy the arc a bit more, even if the essential problems I have with it are still present. I can't recommend this season enough if you've watched the old Bleach series.

I'm currently watching every Ghibli movie in chronological order, and I have to say, Kiki might be the best one I've seen yet. Grave of the Fireflies was a very good one, but I can't say it is enjoyable, I spent most of it suffering and the ending was devastating. Totoro was a huge disappointment, it's not bad by any means, but it's the flagship of the studio, and I expected a lot more of the movie.
Kiki, to me, is why Ghibli is so charming and entertaining. First of all, needless to say, the art is 10/10 (it's Ghibli after all). But what really captivated
...
me is the character arc the protagonist, Kiki, goes through. I struggled with depression, feeling useless and trying desperately to fit in somewhere, and being unable because of my own self-destructing thoughts. Although lightly, this movie touches on that aspect of depression, which really resonated with me on an emotional level to the point I cried when seeing a specific scene (a scene with a chocolate cake, you know the one if you've watched this), because I felt like that was exactly what she needed to finally break out of her state.
If I had to say something bad, it would be that as usual in Ghibli movies, every character besides the main one(s) is really shallow, and that (also usual in Ghibli movies) the ending feels really abrupt. A few arcs don't get finished and, like with Nausicaa, Laputa and Totoro, I felt the movie could be 10 to 15 minutes longer and it would improve a lot.

Okay, this is my second review so I hope I get my oppinion through as intended. Here we go.
I discovered Chainsaw Man by zapping through the recent updates in the site that I read at, and it caught my attention. I read one chapter to see what it was all about, and I can't say that it got me hooked, but I read every chapter available at the time in an hour or so. I treated it as kind of my guilty pleasure, seeing that it was not anything revolutionary, and it was pretty basic, but I found myself enjoying it. Now, with the latest
...
chapters, I think it has improved a bit, and is not as bad as I thought.
The setting and story is as generic as the most generic Japanese crap you can think of. A world with demons where people are hired to kill specific demons yadda yadda, generic. But what I found while reading is that Chainsaw Man doesn't give a shit about its setting. What it focuses on is on its characters. We are introduced to a cast of characters that might give an impression as to being also generic, and at first they kinda are, but as the story moves forward you see that Fujimoto-san wanted to give a twist to what we're used to. Denji comes forth as every shonen protagonist can be, but throws that out the window by not having any dream to fulfill, he's poor and he wants to stop being it, but *spoilers I guess* he accomplishes that in the first chapter. His focus then shifts to just having sex with the girl who saved him. Yeah, pretty lame, but I guess that's the idea around his character. Another example is Aki, who may look like the typical emo "I hate the world" guy but is pretty kindhearted and has a fairly good reason for being how he is.
I can't say much for character development since at the time of writing this only 33 chapters are out, but I can feel like glimpses of change in some characters are appearing.
Art is a big concern in this manga. Tatsuki Fujimoto is not the kind of artist that usually gets me, I use to read "prettier" manga, but his grim, kinda ugly style fits Chainsaw Man perfectly. Also, Denji's transformation scenes are brutally awesome, and no-one can deny that.
In summary, Chainsaw Man is pretty good, but we'll have to see how it evolves. It can either go very good or become mediocre. Hoping for the former.

Tokyo Shinobi Squad is the newest typical shonen in the Jump. It follows what the Big Three did and, well, is as basic as you can get. A mindless protagonist that is really strong even though he doesn't look that menacing at first, with a strong sense of justice and willing to do everything for what he believes is right, wow.
The story plots (there have been like 2 or 3 short arcs) are pretty basic, but I find them refreshing because of the setting. I haven't read any manga from this oversaturated genre that is set on a cyberpunk-esque world, and even though the story
...
is as basic as it can get, it feels slightly more original than what you can find in other shonen.
Characters are pretty standard, just one dimensional archetypes that each have their cool moments to show off what they're good at, but if you read these kinds of manga you're surely used to this. They're not deep, but are fairly enjoyable if you don't look at it with really critic eyes.
What really sets this manga apart is its character design and overall art. Yeah, the characters may look "really pretty and cute" like in most Jump manga, but I really like their simple futuristic look, even though some characters can be confused because of the low variety in face designs. What is truly impressive is the composition of battle scenes. I can feel the movement and the strength of the impacts, the "ninpo" techniques, and clearly see in my mind how they'd be animated if this was an anime. Pretty good on that area.
Overall, TSS is not bad. It won't blow your mind, but if you don't have anything to read it's pretty entertaining, as long as you look at it as what it is, a generic shonen. Also, at the time of writing this review there's only 10 chapters out, so you can get up to date really quick.
6.5/10
