I think this show scratches that itch left behind by Spice and Wolf, and Log Horizon, for me personally. I can take or leave action but I love politics and interesting dialogue. I think that's the main appeal of this show. If you want a lot of action or get bored when a majority of a show is characters sitting around talking, then you're going to hate this show.
I think it also avoids the classic isekai trope of an overpowered main character (At least personally I think it does.) I could see an argument being made that he's *too* smart but I think his explanations

I really enjoyed watching the characters adapt and grow, especially the main hero who was beaten down from the very beginning. A very nice underdog story that pits the main hero against the world and still comes out on top. I'm a huge fan of the underdog type, pitting the main hero against all odds and watching them claw their way back from nothing. I understand this isn't everyone's cup of tea and might come off as a cliche show. The action is usually very quick and with dialogue sprinkled throughout. I like how the show actually shows consequences for actions rather than explaining. Giving

3 words: WATCH THE DUB
This is a similar case to Ghost Stories. The original show that aired in Japan was awful. So, as in the case of Ghost Stories, the voice actors and writers were given range to just make the show as goofy and funny as they wanted. And they did. The story isn't anything to take notice of, the art is average, the sound design is almost decent but nothing worth wild, and the character arcs are just ecchi trash through and through. HOWEVER, this is one of the funniest shows to watch as a native English speaker. From the slang used, to the way ... |
