Violet Evergarden was the first anime I ever watched since ATLA came out in 2005. It was the most visually beautiful thing I had ever seen. The animation and music are amazing! The story is wonderful because not only do you get to watch Violet's story develop, you also get smaller stories woven in as well. It will make you cry for sure, but I don't mind that at all!
My only complaint is that it's short. I loved it so much, I wanted it to go longer.
There is a "special" which is another episode and a movie coming out in 2020. I'm excited about
