Intro: these are my opinions on yuri on ice and are therefore objective. If you disagree with me please comment in a very respectful way.btw this is spoiler free!
Animation:the animation is excellent but lacked any innovation.the scenes where the animation is more cartoonish feel out of place because the background doesn't change.the animation is best during opening theme. overall I will give it a 9/10.
The soundtrack: the sound track was very good.the opening song was your standard inspiration song about never giving up. Despite eros being the only non-opening song I remember I will give the soundtrack a 8/10.
The plot: it is not bad to
...
have cliches if they are executed correctly but when they are executed badly it's a monstrosity.the plot revolves around a guy who has lost his passion for his sport. Then this guy gets a new coach that teaches his how to incorporate emotion into this sport and to play for someone or something you love.I really like the plot but the only thing that gave this plot any nuance was the way viktor explained love to both yuri and yurio.I must state that viktors explanation of love was a nice breath of fresh air. For an anime that is trying to be more than just entertainment and be something unique it has much to be desired.also, the comedy (in my opinion) was trying to hard to be funny.the fast change from emotional to comedy was very distracting for me.overall I will give it a 7/10
The characters: for me the characters are meh.the large cast for a 12 episode series for me is the series fatal flaw. Plus, a lot of characters fall into very exact archetypes. The main characters development is present on the ring but outside the ring no one changed much.so I will give it a 4/10.
Overall I would give the series a 6/10. 5/10 would be the score if you watch the English dub.
Thanks for your time!
