Handa-kun
add

Both Angel Densetsu and Handa-kun revolve around a misunderstood main character in a school. Handa-kun is a straightforward but paranoid character, whose unsocial attitude leads to misunderstandings that blow out of proportion. This in turn leads to a bunch of various characters forming a clique around him performing various antics. Angel Densetsu is set in the pre-internet/mobile era. The MC of Angel Densetsu, Kitano Seiichiro is an angel at heart with the face of a demon. So scary is his appearance that not a single person has recognized his saintliness at first glance. This in turn attracts only delinquents at first, but normal people follow later as well. Contrary to the likeability of Handa-kun, Kitano is notorious, feared even, by the rest of the school. The sad part about Angel Densetsu is the OVA lasted only a few episodes. The manga is fully translated though. If you enjoyed the misunderstandings around Handa-kun, then read the Angel Densetsu manga for a full dose of laughter which is sure to leave you satisfied.

Young girl in love with old demon. Innocence overflows in both female protagonists making for a nice heart warming story. Hana to Akuma is more shojoesque and consists of the typically cool, rude and arrogant gifted male protagonist who has a soft spot only for a select few. Ore ga Akuma is a shounen and follows the underdog becomes more accepted and cool where male leads are concerned.

Kyoukasho ni Nai!
add

Both feature teacher-student relationships especially with problem students. The difference being GTO is a strong teacher and focused on delinquents and getting along generally with students. Kyoukasho ni Nai (Very Private Lesson) is more about a wimpy teacher being played by a problem student who happens to be a Yakuza boss' daughter. KNN is more ecchi, but only two OVA episodes were made despite 18 volumes in the manga.

Hareluya II: Boy
add

Strong high-school male delinquent leads are a way to sum up both mangas. Lead protagonists in both series are brash, impulsive, smart and strong. The secondary MCs have a love-hate relationship with the lead. They are constantly abused, berated but still trusted by the other. Romantic subplots in Hareluya are toned down. Kyou kara ore wa doesn't focus too much on the romance aspect as but is more apparent. As for which male lead is stronger? Hareluya is seemingly indestructible but his fighting styles and weapons can become predictable after a while. Mitsuhashi in Kyou Kara comes across as more cunning and has no moral qualms in using dirty tricks. This makes him much more unpredictable. All in all, both are great series and for lovers of this genre, if you enjoyed one, you are sure to enjoy the other.

Saruyama!
add

Protagonists admit their love early on in the series and manage to retain a healthy relationship. Love Roma is more mature, pragmatic and has much better comic content. Saruyama in contrast is more dramatic, as expected of a shoujo manga.

Both shows are based on the lives of adolescent high school boys and their antics. Ike! Ina-chuu ... (aka Ping Pong club) is centered on the crazy happenings at a high school ping pong club. Common themes in both DKNN and Ina-Chuu include weird interactions with members of the opposite sex, cross-dressing, interference in romance and other perverted plots you can blame on puberty. Ping pong club though takes it to the extreme and features nudity. Expect a regular dose of butts and boobs. While DKNN has much better humour, Ping pong club has is own lol moments in the form of outrageous actions by a perverted trio and lots of gags. Table tennis itself has little role to play unlike the title suggests. Unlike DKNN, this is not a show you can watch with your family, but provides great laughs. If you enjoy adolescent comedy this show is definitely recommended.
