Well written and thought out holistically, a show made above the standard of modern film or animation, one that commits to its scope and amazingly actually manages to thread the line between science and fiction in a way that is both plausible enough not to take you out of it, and out there enough to be deeply interesting.

This show is simply an example of an alright or even good story being completely and utterly ruined by the way it is adapted, awful audio mixing and music, terrible pacing, lowly direction, no real timing. All of the faults in this show lie with the studio adapting it supposedly not caring enough to polish it even a little bit, all of the scenes are the wrong length and all of the story beats are misaligned, the voice acting is wasted with this mixing, and the music is either too quiet or completely mismatched. I dropped this show after 6 episodes. There is no doubt in my mind that i am not missing out on anything.
Majo no Tabitabi is a show that has no plot or coherent theme, and consists mostly of short stories that make pathetic attempts at making observations and conclusions about human nature. Each of these short stories seems to have had its moral written before the story making each of them propaganda pieces made to illustrate a given thesis rather than pieces of art from which conclusions can be drawn. This, for me, is the very definition of bad art. The show is preachy but all ... |
