Weird artstyle but I like it. Better than generic artstyle anime have these days. Sound is good, OP is by Wagakki Band, ED sounds good. I usually skip OP and ED but not this anime. OST fits well too.

Story, pacing, artystyle is unorthodox and needs to get used to, but once you get used to it, it's great. Artstyle reminds me of more storybook-like artstyle. The direction is also quite unusual from usual anime, it's almost as if it is a play. Apparently, the original source material is from a play, so I guess that's why.

I have no idea why this anime series have such a bad rating. It's actually GOOD! I feel that a lot of people might be turned off from even starting to watch due to the low reviews on MAL, which does not do justice to the actual anime series.

This anime have a slower start, but it gets really good probably after the first few episodes. Please give it a try! One of the rare anime that made me marathon the manga after watching to the latest episode.

Story: 9/10
Granted, it had a slower start. Sometimes, I can't understand why Mahmut is Pasha from the beginning of ... the series. Maybe there's a vacant Pasha role? So anyway, I kind of "dropped" the anime at episode 2 or 3, which is kind of a bad point of the anime.

So anyway, I decided to let the episodes accumulate and give it a try again, and I got hooked. The strategies used in this anime are pretty good. It's a mix of politics and war strategies. Kind of like Magi (in terms of politics) and Kingdom (in terms of war). It's very interesting to see how the flow of the strategy play out, and those strategies will always amaze you.

Art: 9/10
Pretty good artwork, just that towards the end, I feel that the budget is lowered and the animation are more "simpler" than some episodes. I love the style of how the characters are drawn in.

Sound: 8/10
So far, no OST is memorable to me, but the OST does not irritate me, so it's a 8/10.

Character: 9/10
Pretty good main and side characters, except in 1 case where I get quite annoyed by the dancing girl in the starting episode. Other than that, the main character and side characters are really interesting. They have their own thoughts, their own lives, they feel real instead of 2D.

Mahmut is a Pasha with little experience as a Pasha in the beginning. Hence, it explains his naive and "pure" self. It is a perfect start for a character as it gives room for the character to grow out of being naive and "pure". Thus so far, I'm enjoying his character development throughout the anime, where you can actually feel the character development.

Enjoyment: 10/10
Overall, I greatly enjoyed Shoukoku no Altair. The mixture of strategies, character development, world building, how each nation will do for the sake of their own nation, etc, they are really interesting. There's 1 part of the strategy played out that amazed me.

Pretty good anime. To be honest, I feel that this is better than Arslan Senki (the other anime that is pretty similar to Shoukoku no Altair).

Simply one of the best manga I've ever read, and is my favourite of all time.

First off, the art is amazing. It's okay in the earlier chapters, but you can see the artstyle and art improving chapter by chapter. The style of colouring is unique, one look and I can easily tell it's done by Mochizuki-sensei.

Secondly, the plot. Some plot are already foreshadowed in earlier chapters but it's really subtle, you don't really notice it until you went back to re-read the manga. It shows that this story is planned in mind from the beginning, it does not go off track like some other manga. ... This manga can get a bit confusing due to the twists, hence it makes this manga good for re-reading. You'll notice the foreshadow moment only when you really pay attention to it.

Thirdly, the character. The main characters get their necessary development, but one big development that is really good is Xerxes Break's development. Also, Mochizuki-sensei made it a point on what is lost is lost. This works great for character development, so that the character's change feels realistic.

Best points of this manga are probably the plot and the character development. Totally recommended.
