Tonari no Totoro was one of my first exposures to anime, when I was but a young lad of 5 my eldest sister sat me down and watched it with me. at such a young age, I was enthralled by everything, the fuzzy looking art, the beautiful backgrounds and probably my favourite aspect of the film to this day, the music.

Joe Hasaishi's score is brilliant, the main theme, Kaze no Torimichi, whilst not being my favourite Ghibli theme, is excellent, and still gives me goosebumps when I listen.

Before I decided to write this review, I rewatched the film to make sure I wasn't just ... having fond memories due to nostalgia, this however, was not the case and the film still holds up to this day.

Because it was so instrumental in my discovery and subsequent enjoyment of anime as a whole and all the other points discussed, I can rate this film a 10/10 in confidence.
