Well, where should I start with this one... We basically have two options here: If you are looking for a simple, yet full of emotions and conceptions of love story, then I can say this is definitely worth your 45 minutes. On the other hand, if the current circumstances that revolve you aren't really that favorable for you to be able to dive in this work , I need to warn you this might turn out to be a big disappointment in the end.
Story: 7/10
A childhood adventure setting where a girl spend every single summer vacation time with a spirit, who is faded to disappear
...
once a human touches him. Along the way, they both develop a beautiful relationship that can't be quite fit in a limited shape of "love", given this emotion blooms into different forms and, ultimately, comes to an end.
Taking in consideration how meaningful those kind of childhood memories are for most of us, the story itself got the job done in terms of passing on the feeling that , despite being alive just in our memory, certain experiences still have the power to bring a huge smile on our gloomy faces whenever we recall them. Considering how the author was inspired by a friend who died from cancer when making this story, there's no doubt the nostalgia carried on this movie's message attempted to remind us of this special past we carry with ourselves.
Unfortunately, when it comes down to the storytelling, this movie does not offer too much other than its simple premise. Predictable from the very start, there isn't much else to say about the tear-jerking features added in the way.
Art: 7/10
G-O-O-D. Nothing got my attention in particular and, if you have god-like standards for animation, than this might not be quite a sight for sore eyes to you.
Sound: 8/10
Spectacular! Sound effects contributed a lot to the immersion and the musics fit perfectly with both the pacing and the emotional scenes. On top of that, the lyrics do really hit hard once you take a closer look at them.
Chracters: 7/10
Could've been better developed, despite being good enough for a 45 minute ride. In fact, due to its lack of uniqueness, the charaters are perfect for a self-inserting experience, given how this story could've taken shape according to anyone in the audience.
Enjoyment: 8/10
Well, despite having its problems , which I can't really tell whether they are a result of the short screen-time or the very opposite of this coin, this movie was able to hit my feelings at the end of the day so, in other words, it managed to meet up my expectations when I picked it amidst my Plan to watch list.
Overall: 8/10
That's what we have for today hehe >_<. I guess I made myself clear on the first line of this review already and I've just written everything that came to my mind in the meantime. If you have any suggestions on how I should improve not only the text, but also some typos and grammar mistakes, I'd be glad to hear you out! Have a great day :D
