What do you do in the olympiad challenge? I kinda know what it is, but not much apart from the competitive exam part.
Likewise, I’m amazed at your ability to infinitely prolong the conversation. I wouldn’t be able to do it on my own. All I can do is go with the flow. Actually, looking at the three messages that I have to reply to, I think I can condense my replies to all three within a single message, and I’m going to send that to you privately. I told you before about certain people spying on my WiFi connection, so it’s best if we have any deeper conversations (deeper than just a music video or funny meme), through private messages (MAL’s super weeb encryption technology). There’s no way for anyone to view those unless they’re logged onto your account, and I just recently changed my password to a difficult one, after leaving the aforementioned dubious WiFi connection.
Just one more level to go, and you’ll be up against Geshi, the final boss of the isekai themed game, The Advocacy For SAO Club I Accidentally Became An Admin For: All Roads Lead To Doom.
‼️ What do you think about it? I see the catchphrase is catching on.
I started watching Minky Momo as well. Not much yet just an ep or 2. I like it so far. It kind of reminds me of Hana no Ko Lunlun, which I watched when I was young. It’s similar in that transform into adults, but in LunLun, she specifically transforms into professions, like magician or police officer. I think there were enemies trying to get in her way, which idt Minky Momo has so far, but it’s also refreshing if there aren’t. Idt there’s always needs to be enemies. She also is accompanied by talking animal companions — the dynamic duo of a dog and cat.
Having a rival for anime watching is an amusing concept. Normally ppl have friends that inspire anime watching. No one in my family watches anime either. Actually my cousin started to recently. I’m using his Crunchyroll acc rn 👀
I’ve been kind of tired. And anxious of the future. But not that bad. I’ve been playing a lot of Animal Crossing recently.
Wbu? Are you well?
Arigatouuu ><
Comparing Santa to a ‘reverse isekai devil part-timer’ is a funny metaphor that could only come out of weeb-land. All I can say is, don’t be surprised if a bearded potbellied old dude gets grouchy if he can’t sup his fill of mulled wine. There’s a reason his chubby cheeks are always rosy red ;)
I’ve read (maybe it was on listverse) that it’s a popular Japanese tradition to buy KFC for Christmas, so maybe there’s some connection they make between Colonel Sanders and Santa. Maybe, they think they’re going to see Santa when they step into a KFC. Lol.
You’ve adjusted your score for SxF from a 6 to a 7, while I’ve done the opposite. I’ve changed it from an 8 to a 6. Maybe, the humor wore itself out on the third viewing (of Season 1). I’ve only seen (the shorter) Season 2 once, though. Maybe, there are certain series that aren’t so well suited to more than one or two viewings. What are some of your faves to rewatch? I’d say some of mine were Girls’ Last Tour and Yuru Camp (for when you’re in a tranquil/relaxed mood), and AoT, Kaiji, and Golden Kamuy (for suspense/tension and action/adventure).
I can understand your philosophy regarding feeling weightless and free when you’re swimming. There is something therapeutic about that weightless floating feeling, and letting the waves wash over you. All life evolved from the oceans originally, so it’s like going back many millions of years to our primordial point of origin.
It’s true that in social media, most of us (me, you, and others) hide a lot of our private lives and only talk about media (like anime, music etc), but maybe it’s safer like that. Talking about religion or politics might bring about discord/conflict, and when you look at some of the MAL forums, there’s enough argument about anime, let alone topics more weighty or divisive. And with regards to social status and income, there might be an uneven playing field, where social media mirrors some of the inequalities in real life, where some people are above others or get preferential treatment or opportunities. An analogue for it would be: if you earned over a certain (considerably high) amount of money, you could have 20 MAL favourites (fave anime and characters), but if you had the very lowest income, you could only have 1. Maybe, social media (like MAL) is a good escape from the income based or related, class system or social hierarchy. It’s like we’re all citizens on the same level as each other - except for the moderators (who are like weeb gods). Maybe, if there was more personal talk there would be more judgements or anxieties. People looking down their noses at some, and others feeling ashamed or inferior. We have started to talk about more things in our private messages though, and as time goes on, maybe even more will be revealed. Don’t worry, I’m not going to reveal that I’m really reverse isekai devil part-timer Santa ;)
I struggled with Vivi and found it hard to get into on the first viewing (gave it a 5), but I bumped that up to a 7 on the rewatch. And 7 is a decent/quite good score for me. A 7/10 would be something that I might not like passionately, have a particular fondness for, or want to rewatch again, but it doesn’t feel like it was a wasted effort in watching it/concentrating for it, either. Vivi reminded me of what Violet Evergarden crossed with an animated version of the Terminator movies might look like.
Hibike is definitely something I’d like to try. I’ve been curious about it for a while. Do you think it would be a good candidate for us to simul-watch together? I think Violet is the prettiest KyoAni production, so far. The Violet movie was very beautifully done, and irrespective of one’s feelings regarding content, it can be enjoyed for its aesthetic merits alone.
I don’t know Jujutsu Kaisen yet (and maybe I never will), but it sounds to me like you’re saying that there’s a confusion as to who the main character of the story is, and this detracts from it in some way. Well, I’m easy going regarding if there’s a clear main charachter, or if there are contenders for that title. What about HxH, could Gon and Killua be seen as equal main characters? Does this detract from it in any way?
I’ve seen the first 25 episodes of Black Clover, and I would say there are some clear similarities between Asta (the MC) and Naruto. Their main power is the power to never give up or give in, and they can be a bit dense/a knucklehead at times, but the Black Clover world building does remind me more of Fairy Tail. The designs remind me most of Fairy Tail, as well. I’ve heard the series might be worth sticking with, as it supposedly gets better as it goes on. There a lot if episodes, though. Kimetsu is a series I have some difficulties with. I think I made a mistake by embarking on a rewatch. I think it’s better that I put it to rest. I just can’t get the peak experience that the fans get from it. What has been your peak anime experience, lately?
I saw Pulp Fiction a couple of times as a teenager, and maybe I thought it was cool back then. I might have seen Reservoir Dogs on TV, but can’t remember much of it. I’ve seen the first five episodes of JoJo’s dubbed, and rather than a cool movie, it seemed more comical (either intentionally or unintentionally) because of the English accents the VA’s assume. You should try the first few episodes dubbed just to have a laugh at the accents. That’s exactly how I might sound to an American. Lol.
I’ve heard that underneath the neon lights and technology, Japanese society is quite traditional and closed to outsiders. Maybe, you could integrate more (and be accepted) if you married one. Of course, I’m sure there’s hospitality and a warm welcome to tourists. There’s a channel tunnel (underneath the sea) linking England to mainland France, by rail. So, anywhere in mainland Europe is reachable by train. There are lots of nice locations in the British Isles though, so if I had to choose somewhere to vacation/visit, it would be a natural beauty location in Britain. I like to stick to what I know and trust. How about you, have you ventured much from your island home? Have you been to Japan/would you like to go?
From what I remember, there is a final and conclusive ending to the Sugar Apple story, in Season 2. I can’t imagine there being a continuation. Keep in touch with me in private message regarding ideas or plans for simul-watches, if you feel you might be ready for more ;)
definitely have people I hate, I always try to understand things from various points of view so my mind actually understands why/how to overcome hatred but my heart still says something else. trying to stay away. keep quiet, and last forgot their existence, so I don't know if they hate me back or not, don't have any interest in knowing. what is certain is that they exist IRL , hatred is a feeling that comes from ongoing experiences and cannot be avoided. if it's online just leave straight away before it becomes big hateful things.
fluffy/cuddly is that what you think of me? or you just respond to a photo of a cute cat, you could say I act the same way don't have the desire to make a persona or mask, it gets more tiring day by day, but if there was a difference, I might be more careful in choosing because relationships in irl are very difficult to leave behind and we have to hold it in. So first I had to stay quiet/observe a lot/pay attention to my surroundings.
As for me having a dark personality, obviously don't know, what do you think? only people can judge someone and that also occurs because of their reflection and experience in life, for me I always try to be good as I can be..but I am a person who has high curiosity and realize that sometimes causes trouble for other people... for example, when I go to the supermarket suddenly ask “how batteries are created?” because saw it in front of the cashier's desk.
What pushes your anger buttons, the most? Deaf-egoist/ self-absorbed/ Egoists have no problem if they can hear and understand boundaries, but if they are deaf... I will give up.
I don't know too much and only touched on it a little in world history because it influences nationalism, democracy and liberalism in the country. We were colonized by the Netherlands for legally 50 years (actually the history is more like on and off) the true is that the Netherlands has history for 350 years... but this can be like The boiling frog story is generally offered as a metaphor cautioning people to be aware of even gradual change lest they suffer eventual undesirable consequences. where they started trading and slowly took control but that already illustrates how this country really likes peace and tries to solve all problems with various agreements and negotiations, conferences... etc. and many events in the world made us start taking up arms/war like French Revolution
wow what topic did we start talking about until it ended this far? I even brought up history... remember Hetalia ( anime-humanized country) , everyone said bnha toxic fandom. they have not fallen into a deeper hole, still confused about why I'm still safe/enjoying after experiencing the full circle of weeb. For yourself, when is your peak?
well actually I know the reason yesterday just watched 'Daigo of Fire Company' and amazed only anime could make a 40 minute fire rescue story so great and very eye catching. For yourself, what is it that still makes you like anime with its various bad stigmas,? what's more, if you think you're older it's not like the current era where anime is becoming mainstream.
are you telling me to look for “renn” among your 600+ friends?
I’m surprised when you say, there are people you hate. Are those IRL or online people? Do they hate you in return? Are you as fluffy/cuddly IRL as your MAL avatar, or is there a more menacing/darker side to your personality? What pushes your anger buttons, the most?
The French Revolution? I’m surprised to hear you mention that. Is French history something you’re taught in schools where you live, or is it something you’ve read/researched yourself? I remember studying the French Wars of Religion in high-school, but I know/have read more French 19th Century literature than history. Coincidently, when reading a book on the occult just recently, I came across a reference to the revolution. On the eve of The French Revolution, the Marquis de Sade declared that God was abolished. I think the overturning of the old order of society (monarchy and nobility) in France, perhaps coincided with a rise in atheism/agnosticism across Europe. In comparison, in previous centuries, the Pope was perhaps as powerful as a King, if not the most powerful or influential person in Europe.
There are lots of timelines and orders for watching the Fate franchise on MAL. I have a good/longtime MAL friend called Renn, who’s a bit of a Type-Moon and Fate expert. If you’re ever confused or need help with anything, just ask him (and maybe say that I sent you) and I’m sure he’ll be happy to oblige. Fate/strange fake was an hour long TV Special and is supposed to be the prelude for a forthcoming Fate/strange fake series. No dates have been confirmed, though. I thought the Special was prime quality Fate. Like, an American-style spin on the Fate/Zero atmosphere/vibe (but still different to Fate/Zero, obviously). And there were some cool extended scenes featuring Gilgamesh and Enkidu. The artwork/visuals were out of the ballpark.
I can understand what you’re alluding to with referencing AoT as a series where there’s excessive action (to put it politely). It might not suit someone with a sensitive disposition, and I’m not someone who purposely seeks out that type of thing, either. I think I gave it a special licence/dispensation because there were other key elements that impressed me - like, phenomenal Sawano OST, stellar artwork from WIT and MAPPA, and engaging dialogue and drama. I’ve only seen the very final, extended length special episode once (so far) and it was quite strange/unexpected, and probably went over my head (because there was so much to take in, as well as the conclusion). Up until that point though, I had been impressed by nearly all aspects of the show - bearing in mind, that it is clearly an action orientated story. I would say, try the first episode, and if that’s too much for you/definitely not what you’re looking for, then leave it there. It’s one of those, where you’ll be able to tell from the first episode if it’s right for you, or not.
That Milet song I sent you does have a unique melody. It puts me in mind of a blend of modern song-craft and instrumentation, mixed together with traditional Japanese music/scales/songs (or what I'd imagine them to sound like).
Milet and Aimer are two of my fave Japanese singers, but I'm not sure who you mean, when you say Yama. The only time I remember hearing mention of a Yama, was in reference to the (old man) Head Captain in Bleach.
I came here because I found out about this website from my friend.
