I took 3 days finishing this anime, which is super rare. It usually took me about a month, now that I am in anime series slump.
This anime felt warm.
NOW let's get to know me first, so that if you think we are similar, this review could be a great guide to you. But you can just skip to the paragraph below!
1) I am not into medieval fantasy anime.
- I gave several popular one a chance. I want to enjoy them too
- end up hating SAO
- re:zero kept me entertained for a season but i am not continuing season 2
- the only one i truly enjoyed
...
was That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. but i do not have the motivation for season 2
2) I am picky about humour too.
- humour i enjoy: saiki k, opm, dandadan
- humour i do not enjoy: the devil is a part-timer, mashle, sakamaoto desu ga
Regarding dungeon meshi,
I started this solely for the cooking bits. I love seeing detailed food animation in anime. the only gourmet anime i've ever watched was shokugeki no soma. the food was good but characters and plot were horrible.
Now I think the main reason Dungeon Meshi appealed so much to me was because I started it thinking it was about a dwarf chef opening a dungeon-themed restaurant set in medieval fantasy setting. I've never heard about the anime beside its title so I was literally diving in blind.
The character not having a sense of urgency? I don't care! I watched it for the food not the plot. But hey gradually the plot appeals to me. and so were the characters. I especially love the main character Laios and Falin. And the anime got a lot of interesting scenes like the painting episode. It was fun and enjoyable to me. Most importantly, I love the humour. It landed, most of the time. The way it was delivered felt unique too. And if it missed, I did not cringe.
Overall, I think you should know what you are diving into. If you are looking for an entertaining, not so heavy watch, by all means please give dungeon meshi a chance! But if you are looking for critically acclaimed or mind blowing plot (AOT/Death Note level), this anime isn't for you.
And hey this is a heavy bias take but if you dismiss the recommended:not recommended ratio of this listing, the loss is yours :p

I did try to watch a donghua before (seven scissors i think) but can't get past the first episode. Xian Wang de Richang Shenghuo is the first donghua i was attached to. Honestly, this donghua felt like a combination of One Punch Man and Saiki-K to me. The humour is comical, and the story is pretty light. Perfect watch while enjoying my biscuits in between study breaks.
[SPOILER]
On the downside, I am not really attached to the characters. Personally, I don't like how Wang-Ling and Sun Rong's relationship was built. I can't feel their chemistry thus the whole love story kinda ruins my enjoyment.
...
I cringed a little when Wang Ling went berserk for deceased Sun-Rong because I can't feel the depth of their relationship. yea....

gah! enen no shouboutai has officially marked the 100th anime i've watched. thruthfully, i have watched the first episode of this anime when it was still airing and dropped this shit right there and them. it has that 'interesting' quality but somehow i am not interested.
but yea. decided to give this anime another chance because my irls love it so much.
and here is my take. (note: i am a really simple person. i view stuffs on one point of view)
story: 6/10
i don't know why i can't get into this fire, human combustion, infernals concept. it really is a whole new world but somehow it was
...
missing something that i can't really pinpoint. or maybe if the story is told in another pov, or another setting, idk? something about the story isn't really satisfying when in fact the story has that 'excellent shounen' quality. i think, it could have been written better.
art: 9/10
the art is really clean and clear. the fire was animated really well too as it gives off the impact it should.
sound: 10/10
HOLYSHIT beside my irl friends telling me fire force is amazing, the other reason i chose to pick up this show was bcs of the rumour that it has the best sound effect and oh lord nobody is lying! it was an amazing experience. the sound team need a pay raise ffs!
character: 7/10
well... they have a good characters and a whole 'why would you even exist' character. ah and not to mention the fan-service that's so loud it makes uncomfortable. i thought we left fan-service on 2016? but anyway arthur was the one who keeps me going. if it's not for this dumb cocky dude, i would have drop the show at episode 2! oh and benimaru. the blueprint of overpowered relief character. love him.
enjoyment: 6/10
i would say the entire show's enjoyment is 6 but somehow i started paying attention on episode 12-14. and i fully believe it is NOT and understatement to say that EPISODE 14 CARRIED THE WHOLE SHOW. i will rate this show a 6/10 but will drop a 10/10 for episode 14 anyday.
i believe in episode 14 supremacy.

i am not a fans of isekai/fantasy genre. i in fact only start re:zero because of this unsettling memory of that "one episode of anime you watch on tv". i was searching for the anime after a long time and finally realized it was re:zero. apparently i have watched the entire episode 23 on tv back in 2016.
anyway. it is pretty amusing seeing how a loser managed to execute a role of main character. the story? it was pretty... out of place. some parts i have to force myself watching it. some parts, i was totally engulfed, binge watch a whole 5 episodes on row.
...
some parts feels like it would take to this kind of plot but then when it moves to another part it drifts off 90 degree. objectively i had rate this anime as 6 but it feels wrong to not acknowledge the good parts so there you go. a whole 7. the interesting part was that i finished this anime in 3 days. it's not the best show but somehow i want to know how the rest of the stories go.
will i continue season 2? probably in 8 to 12 months.

Head up; I loveee cliche shoujo manga. (as long as the author execute the cliche well)
I write this review after finishing reading the second time. it was an unintended reread though. because i thought i have never read it before but anyway!
[ the ups ]
i love the ship dynamic. it's those "wild aggressive cat x cool but
...
so whipped for the cat". [+1]
i love how the reason the guy likes the girl is because he looks up to her. he loves how the girl never looks back on her dream and he wished he had done the same thing before. [+1]
i love how the girl is actually serious in playing basketball, and never try to gain any attention from her beloved senior though he is the reason she get into the club. [+1]
character development! the guy used to always tell the girl to stop playing basketball as a guy but at the end he realized he should do what she want [+1]
reversed harem. i'm shamelessly so whipped for reversed harem. [+1]
upon reading the first chapter, i was so ready to drop this manga because of the "i am a girl dressed up as a guy but this short hair? oh it's only a wig" trope but then girlie really go out and cut her hair raw to prove her determination. short hair girl >>>>>>>> [+1]
[ the down ]
ight.. everytime the guys took her out, they dressed her up with long hair wig and girly clothes eventhough she's clearly uncomfortable in it. [-1]
the quote "i'm going to make a girl out of you". like dude if she's comfortable like that, let her be! (and tbh the girl acting the way she is is so attractive to me so) [------1]
when the cliche got a ltitle too much. you know? those scene that's only there so the author could draw their desired imagination. it seems kind of.. forced. [-1]
homophobic. [-1]
------
but again, for a cliche shoujo manga, i do enjoyed it pretty well.

Free! is my 90th anime i have completed and this is my second review throughout 3 years joining myanimelist. meaning, this review solely came from my opinion, an unexperienced anime watcher)
i actually watched free on 2017, after finishing haikyuu and yuri on ice. i only watched the first episode and proceeded on dropping it on my 'dropped' list. i abandoned free for a whole 3 years. but anyhooo, i eventually picked up again and try to finish it.
the very first mistake that i did upon watching free was thinking it is a sport anime. yes, this anime is about sport, but the main story is
...
about the characters' inner fight and their friendship. i honestly thinks free could even qualify as slice of life anime as there are a lot of fillers scenes. scenes that doesn't move the plot but only there as entertainment. not that it's bad but i am just not a fan of it.
as of the whole story, i'd say it is mediocre. there are not a lot of things going on. if you love light-hearted anime, then free is for you. like i said, my mistake was thinking that free is a sport anime. i am looking for a nerves wrecking roller coaster ride. i keeps on time seeking 10 seconds forward. however i enjoyed episode 3-5 a lot (the one where rei joined the club but can't even swim). and the last episode is the most enjoyable for me.
as of the fan-service people keeps on talking about, as a healthy, hetero, 20 years old woman, it doesn't bother me nor do i enjoy it. because all the abs and muscles shown doesn't appeal me even a bit. so i don't have any praise or complain.
for the character part, they, just doesn't leave an impact to me. i think all characters are pretty bland and cliche. well maybe i'd make an exception for makoto since he screams 'comfort'.
in terms of character visual, it's very clean cut. vibrant color, clear animation. yet again, i am somehow not a fan of this kind of 'perfect' visual. kind of a little vanilla to me. it's realllyy perfect but may need a little... spice?
rated free! 5/10 but i will rate the final episode as 8/10. will i continue the season 2? no.

my circle of friends keep on praising this anime so i put a really high expectation and i guess that's where i made my mistake. because i am honestly disappointed after watching it.
disclaimer: this come from someone who love watching anime but yet to be experienced in this anime sht.
1) story (4/10)
i think the story is normal. cliche. there's no element that makes this movie stands out from other. it doesn't excite me any bit and i could see what was coming from the beginning til the end.
...
2) art (54/10)
again, the art doesn't stands out. I don't feel like taking any screenshot. yeap.
3) sound (7/10)
i guess the sound is good and detailed.
4) character (2/10)
i'm sorry. but the overly-cheerful high-pitched popular girl is overdone so does the nerd that have no friends and got his nose stuck in book all the time. its just... cliche. i can't feel the warmth of the characters at all.
5) enjoyement (2/10)
i don't enjoy it at all.
6) overall (3/10)
doesn't meet the hype at all. bye i'm jumping back on my kpop sht. try to check out the boyz reveal.
