Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica

The similarity is apparent—you do not need to go past the first episode. The moment you begin watching Madoka, you receive a chill revealed through an apparent chaos in the anime. Concepts that you are previously unaware of now present themselves with the most convoluted of thought. On one hand, you have the chaos of plot, in which foreshadowing and motifs pile themselves one after another, forcing you to think hard on what is really happening, what are the intentions of each character, and maybe wonder who, really, is the antagonist; On the other hand, you have a world that may seem normal at first—at the insistence of the protagonist—though everything is torn apart when the main character meets a girl or unknown origin. In which order do these characteristics describe the respective shows? It's up to you to decide; for me, the characteristic describes both of the shows perfectly~

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai.

Purgatory is a poor word for describing the place between heaven and hell since we strictly limit the definition of good or bad to our limited vocabulary perception. Ano Hi Mita Hana is the epitome of a continuation for Angel Beats. For those who are familiar with Angel Beats, Ano Hi Mita Hana embraces the same concept of leaving a place instead for a better place; it embraces the same emptiness; it embraces the same welling of tears moment at the extraordinary climatic end; it embraces the same aloofness between the two protagonist that are the most important in our eyes. Finally, don't discriminate against Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai for its long name. A certain person committed the mistake. It was his biggest mistake this year. If you cried watching Angel Beats, this is definitely the anime for you.

Bakemonogatari is the most classical representation of the last 5 episodes of Angel Beats. There is no visible difference between the two since they are both about helping others advance through their mental troubles.
