While the fights in both are violent due to the unrealistic power of their martial arts they practice, everything else in both series is grounded in reality. The setting of both are around high school and the dirty seedy side of the criminal underground.

Both manga are original, deal with perverted high schoolers, and last but not least... MASTURBATION!!!! Fapping play a key role in both these manga. Onani Master is like Death Note with fapping. Sundome is somewhat more perverted dealing with many different fetishes and the main character going from fapping all the time to being punished by not being allowed to relieve some stress for days or weeks at a time.

These two series are hidden gems of anime. Souten Kouro 9 episodes in is starting to have a LOGH: Ancient China vibe. You have various charismatic men leading factions with the goal of supreme conquest. Most of them using strategy and outwitting opponents rather then beating them with sheer power, not to say they couldn't. Loyalty, comradeship, and brotherhood play big parts; as do rivalry, jealously, and betrayal as Cao Cao, Reinhard, and Wenli must not only survive the battlefield but their respective political brass at home conspiring against them.

Both deal with the tragedies of natural disasters. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 from the perspectives of a group of victims, while Rescue Wings shows a rescue helicopter pilot.

In short Taisho Yakyuu Musume is Saki set in the 1800s with baseball instead of mahjong. The two series share lots of similarities from a wonderful and diverse cast of girls (a girl for everyones particular fetish lol) to a slice-of-life school club setting with some srsbiz competition going down. Thats only my impression after seeing the first episode of Taisho + some promos and following Saki anime/manga since it started in April.

Both of these series are heavily smutty but have really lovable characters with lots of drama, romance, relationships and sex. Girlfriend deals with many couples each with their own chapters in separate vignettes. Some even get additional follow up stories in later volumes. Haru yo, Koi has follows a number of young adults and the relationships that form between them with the interaction between two specific individuals at its nucleus.

Both shows are set in bubble cities in the near future and have some dark vibes. While Ergo Proxy doesn't have mechs, its does still have some action packed combat. More importantly the characters in both stories delve deeper in the history and dark past of the bubbles cites to reveal some big secrets.

Xam'd feels like a re-envisioning of Eureka Seven. Just like Eureka Seven, it has a motley crew aboard aircraft/airship zipping around here and there with some awesome mecha action thrown in. So if your ever looking for something similar, give Xam'd a shot.
