A solid manga. Not without it's issues though. Biggest issue for me is the art. It can be pretty good at times but, also very rough at others. In the beginning I really couldn't stand it. I'm not sure if it got better or I just got used to it. The story is pretty neat, I think. It kind of reminds me of hunger games in the basic premise. Bunch of people having to fight to survive. It's interesting how so many characters die relatively quickly and then very few for the remainder of the series. I guess it's a decent balance, although it did
...
feel a bit lackluster and off kilter there. All in all though, I'd say it's a pretty good series, much more mature for a shonen manga, with interesting characters and concepts. Could bump it to an 8 or 9 in rereads, who knows, maybe even a 10. It has potential, but I read it very quickly and didn't analyze it too closely so, I'm going with a solid 7 for now.

Pretty good. I wasn't sold on it at first but, it really surprised me pretty quick. Granted, it's still technically a shonen, though with a bit more mature vibe. The first season isn't super long but, a good amount of ground is covered pretty quick. That being said, it's still too early to tell where the rest of the series will go. The animation was great though and I kept wanting to see the next episode so, I'd definitely recommend it. I'm surprised it's not more highly rated. It's better than any of the other battle shonen animes out there.
Great cast of characters too. That
...
probably stands out the most to me, that each one is written pretty well, which is refreshing.

Nothing really special. I'm surprised it was so popular. The art's good (not really my style) and the idea's not bad but, idk, it just doesn't really do anything for me. It felt like a waste of my time. It was supposed to be somewhat funny, and I could see it doing well as an anime but, as a manga, I'd never read any more chapters. I don't see anything interesting coming from it. It would just be some weird gag manga. It could certainly have plot development but, I don't see anything in it that would lead me to believe it's something I'd have
...
to see.

So, as usual, recommending this series or not, really depends on the person, mostly their experience and age. It would be much easier to recommend something of this caliber to someone less experienced in reading manga and younger, as it's not a great series, though it's not terrible either.
First off, the art, to me, is not great. It isn't terrible either but, it seems like it's probably digitally drawn. The lines are very clean, and there's pretty much no shading using the pen, it's all black and white with screen tone. This gives it a webtoon or manwha look which, I'm not very fond of.
...
However, if that's you're thing then, I guess you won't mind. I think the art has improved as of late. I read the series sort of fast so, I'm not really sure why but, it seemed to me like it wasn't as obvious that it was digitally drawn; there wasn't as much empty space filled up by screen tone or just plain black and white. But definitely early on it was very noticeable. Maybe I just got used to it.
I really love the idea but, the execution is a bit lacking for me. The general plot idea reminds me of Attack on Titan, except, the series doesn't really go there in terms of darkness and I think that sort of cheapens the idea. As the story progresses, it does get darker but, it takes a little while to get to that point and even then, it doesn't do a whole lot. This can be good and bad as, series like AOT, sometimes go overboard. This series does find a nice middle ground I'd say, especially since it gradually eases it's way into upping the stakes and getting more serious.
The series is also a bit too fast paced for my liking. I feel as though the series is already getting to end and we've seen the type of powerups found in other much longer series in half the time. This could work better if time skips were used but, they are not.
I almost feel like the story thus far, would serve as a decent prequel to an even better story. A quick sort of, here's the land before the modern era type of thing. Maybe the series would just be better in another author's hands? The humor in the story is really well done, as is the minor attention to details, I think the author is unusually good in these areas but, as a whole, I think the series is lacking some of the star power that makes a series really stand out.
So, all in all, not bad, not great, a good in between. It impressed me enough to finish it so, it's certainly worth a read. It has really got more interesting closer to the hundred chapter mark, with interesting backstories coming to light. The writing lately is more worthy of an 8 or 9, but, it can't make up for such a long drought earlier on in the manga. Before that it sort felt like your average battle shonen, done relatively well but, also with nothing to really write home about.

I guess I'd recommend it, not adamantly, and probably not to anyone who has seen a lot of anime and has a more complex taste. There's nothing really bad about it. It's a solid show but, it does feel a little bland for some reason. I'm really not sure why. It seems like a lot happens relatively quickly, stuff that could've been fleshed out but, I'm sort of glad they didn't, as I feel a lot of shows do too much stuff and it can really drag. My one wish is that the series was a little bit darker. It reminds me of Attack on
...
Titan, except it doesn't go there. AOT sometimes goes overboard, but there's a happy medium waiting to be found. I don't feel this anime has done more than maybe dip it's toe in the water, and I have a feeling it's not going to go much deeper. Still, it's entertaining enough to give it a watch and see where things go.

I guess my rating is someone based on a more shonen scale, meaning it wouldn't really hold up to seinen titles with the same rating.
I was pretty shocked with how much I enjoyed this manga. I was not a big fan of the anime, but for whatever reason, the humor actually landed for me in the manga. The story is pretty damn good too, especially after the first twenty chapters or so. I was really surprised to see what happens after season one. Season two should be amazing. That being said, it's not perfect, it still falls into those shonen pitfalls of not going
...
far enough or not being able to commit to some of the darker themes and just being cliche at times with the dialogue. But, these instances are few and far in between and are kind of just a nitpick, as it also does getting pretty dark at times, and the dialogue is pretty good for the most part.
The art is spectacular. I was really surprised by how good it was, and it helps a ton in making this an enjoyable read. My only criticism is that it's sometimes hard to read during the action scenes and tell what's going on but, that's very common in manga so, I can't be too upset about it.
I think new and old manga readers alike will enjoy this one so check it out.

This is a pretty enjoyable show. I did tire of it a little bit for a few episodes but, it bounced right back for me. It's nothing serious but it's very well produced: great animation, great voice acting, great soundtrack and great pacing. Even though it's a silly show, the story is actually not bad, though it is somewhat predicable as far as romance stuff goes, but, that's just kind of par for the course in romance stuff and since the show is so quirky with it's humor, it's not bland at all. It is one of the few shows I can watch in a
...
different language and still laugh out loud at. Humor is very personal but, I think this show is hilarious. I'm really looking forward to season two and to see how the characters develop as time goes on, and what other stupid characters and gags they're going to introduce to keep me laughing.

The bad ultimately outweighs the good for this anime, hence the score, however, it does have some highlights and, I will be checking out the second season. I don't see me ever rewatching the first season though. It seems like it just wouldn't be very enjoyable and a slog to get through. There were really only a handful of episodes and scenes I really enjoyed. The other stuff annoyed me and was hard to sit through.
The first episode is strange and fast paced, not terrible but, a bit of a disappointment. The season really didn't brighten up until Aira got more involved, but that was
...
also short lived. She quickly became overshadowed by the stupid antics of Momo and Okarun again. Then Jiji shows up but, there's nothing really interesting about him until the last episode.
The animation is really not all that stellar to me. I really don't like this style of fluid motion they got going on, it looks shoddy to me. Other people do seem to love it though. I really like some of the creepy stills they do, but, other than looking pretty cool, they don't add much else to the story.
I think the anime struggles with keeping itself on track. I haven't read the source material so, perhaps the manga is just as bad but, it seems like the story struggles with balancing out a comedic and serious tone. I guess that wouldn't bother me if the comedy actually landed for me, but I can't get over Momo's annoying masculine voice. It's grating for me. Okarun's voice isn't the greatest either but, I've sort of gotten used to it. When Momo isn't being a spaz, her voice is fine, but when she gets excited, I get no enjoyment from her shenanigans. It's a very personal thing though so, some people may really enjoy it.
All in all, I personally didn't find anything to write home about. I don't think the series is without potential but, the first season was not very enjoyable for me. It's quirky though so, I guess to each their own. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody though since I personally didn't enjoy it.

Eh, just saw this today and thought I'd try it out since it's just one chapter and all and sometimes one shots can turn into new series. Not sure if that will happen with this one. It does have the potential to, given the ending so, we'll see, but I was not impressed by it at all. I'm not a huge fan of claymore either. The art is really good in everything except for the character's faces, it seems the artist has not changed too much on that note. It doesn't bother me too much though, I think a good story could pull you through
...
it. But this story just seemed bland and generic to me. It felt like I was reading something that was made by an older teenager or young adult. It's a bit rushed for a one shot to me and nothing really makes me feel anything. The fighting, while interesting, is not something I'd recommend for a one shot. Even in a series, I wouldn't introduce such a complicated fighting style until later in the series. It's too much for a reader to be thrown into in this format. Might work better on a screen as you can really get carried away by the atmosphere. In manga it's a bit more difficult to pull that off. But, it was necessary for the plot so, nothing you can do there. Again, just seems kind of cliche and something a young fantasy lover would really like. I really like the fantasy genre but, it still has to be well thought out and immersive. This did not make me feel much of anything.
I wouldn't recommend this anybody other than younger readers, and even then mostly because of the art. I wouldn't be surprised if people gush at it, but i don't see anything special. It could blossom into something better though, but the first chapter will not be a highlight of the series for me if it does go on to become a series.

So, I'm going to cut this one a little bit of slack since I really did like most of it. I'm actually surprised it's not more popular and I believe when it gets an anime adaptation, it will probably blow up. It already reads like it's perfect for adaptation. It's very streamlined without much filler and moves at a good pace, not too fast, but not too slow either. It really works well for it's tone, which is more comedic than serious.
The first chapter was not great, and this may be a big reason why it's not too popular. It of course suffers from being
...
too formulaic and to the point, trying to establish so much in one chapter, instead of just easing you into an interesting story. This is pretty much all of shonen jump at this point. Everything is info dump on the first chapter so, nothing new there. But it bounced right back in chapter two.
Interestingly, it has a lot comedy, almost as if it's a gag manga and not a battle manga, and that's probably what I appreciate about it the most: it's genuinely funny. But, it does have some more wholesome moments that are really not too bad. I think the main character is a nice change of pace; he actually feels original, which isn't something I encounter very often in a battle shonen manga.
The art might be the best thing about this manga. Not only is the style super sharp and everything looks really clean, but I find that the paneling, and the expressions are really well done too. Everything is fluid and easy to follow and gives you a feeling, little to nothing is bland or wasted.
Of course, this manga is not perfect, hence why I said I am cutting it a bit of slack, as there are some points that come off a bit cliche to me but, they really were few and far in between. I actually haven't read a manga as quickly as I read this one in some time. Not that there's a lot of chapters but, it was pretty enjoyable. The latest chapters are getting a bit too formulaic for me, getting into generic plot lines seen in these kinds of series so, I'm not too thrilled about that as I don't see a ton of potential for this series to go too far with that but, we'll see.
So yeah, so far, I would absolutely recommend this to anyone getting into manga, or who likes battle shonens. I think even older people like myself might find this a bit refreshing in terms of a new manga that's in the battle shonen genre.
