Heavenly Inquisition Sword
Plot
I won't mince words-this manhwa has an interesting premise, but a fairly slow plot. The story follows Seolhwi, a soldier of the Demonic Cult who dies tragically and gets a chance to live again. With memories from her previous life, she attempts to change her fate and become stronger. The pacing of the story is steady, but there are some parts that feel drawn out due to too much dialog. Personally, I felt some parts were too slow, especially when the characters were trying to understand the situation.
Art
In terms of art, this is the part that initially made me uncomfortable. For some reason,
...
some of the character designs in the beginning felt disproportionate, especially the female characters who were made too exaggerated. However, as the story progressed, the art improved significantly. The battles are drawn quite detailed, with visual effects that make each duel feel intense. So, although I didn't like it at first, it's much better now.
Characters
The MC here is not the overpowered type from the start, but the development is quite realistic. Seolhwi has to use strategy and intelligence to survive and thrive, not just rely on pure strength. However, one of the big problems I found is that there are some characters that are actually important, but not really explored. They're given a lot of screen time, but their development feels underdeveloped. This makes them feel less influential in the storyline, even though they appear frequently. On the other hand, some characters that should be more focused on sometimes get too little screen time.
Story & Pacing
I felt that some scenes took too long because of the amount of dialog, especially when interacting with characters that aren't that important. But, on the other hand, the combat is quite satisfying, especially since the MC is often faced with difficult situations that require intelligence and careful calculation.
Conclusion
Heavenly Inquisition Sword is a solid action-murim manhwa with an interesting plot, intense battles, and gradually developing main characters. However, there are some characters who are given a lot of screen time but not explored well, which makes the story feel less in-depth. So, if you're the type who can't wait for a slow story with lots of dialog, this might not be the best choice.
Rating: 6.8/10 - It was slow at first, but it got more exciting as it went on.
