Both prove you can have plot and "plot" at the same time with an edgy, yet likeable female protagonist with many other great women in varying degrees of undress, lots of yuri for those looking for them, and a crazy, yet engaging story about stopping a maniacal villain from causing the apocalypse with supernatural technology.

Both are Sunrise mecha series with arguably excessive fanservice and a bonkers story but remains engaging with likable, relatable protagonists and the right mix of "plot" and actual plot with legitimate stakes.

Maria no Danzai
add

The hero and their loved ones are subjected to brutal, prolonged physical and psychological abuse until they transform themselves to settle the score with their former abusers. Both these series are not for the faint of heart and depict graphic physical and sexual violence, and the abusers are cartoonishly evil, making you root for the hero no matter how far they need to go to get revenge. While Redo of Healer leans more into "revenge porn" with the sexual aspect and Maria no Danzai is more of a psychological thriller, if you seek the catharsis of abusers getting their just deserts, both of these series may be right up your alley.

Both are dark yet tongue-in-cheek fantasy stories based off late 80s shonen manga with a cast full of manly men and a surprising amount of women who can hold their own as well. They are also packed to the gills full of western music and pop culture references and influences.

Both are dark and often violent series with a heavy influence of western film noir. They follow a ragtag team that takes episodic cases that often involve the occult, technology, and/or immortality. The central plot, however, deals with the protagonist confronting their past and the antagonist who has hounded it.

Both shows play their genre's tropes straight and then some into delicious ridiculousness. They also have many genuinely heartwarming and sad moments despite its otherwise silly tone. They also share many elements like similar finishers (Especially Fortissimo and Giga Drill), an intense space climax in enormous scale, boiling hot blood, and a main protagonist that breaks out of his/her shell to become one of the coolest characters in the show.

They're significantly different in tone, but are very similar in many ways. The plot revolves around the life forces of everyday people, which is the source of the magical girls' power. But when the life force is corrupted by stress and grief, it turns people into monsters. The pink girl is insufferably naive and shy, but underneath hides boundless potential The blue girl seems energetic, but is deeply troubled by what she can't achieve The yellow girl seems like a tough and flawless role model, but hides a softer side. The purple girl feels guilt over a tragic event, and seems cold and heartless because of it, but she warms up to the others. The endings are very similar
