I want to start off by saying I loved this anime as a music junkie myself this was a treat. Very few anime I've seen have capture the feeling of music like Beck. This series is filled with TONS of music lore easter eggs and gags so it's a must watch for fans of music especially indie rock fans and struggling musicians.

Now onto my review. Story: 8/10 The story is about a young boy struggling to find his way. He meets an old childhood friend and is introduce to Japan's indie rock scene and his life is forever changed. He becomes part of a ... band and experiences the joy and agonizing pain of being in a band.

Art: 7/10 The series is fairly decently animated but I feel like it was mindblowing.

Sound: This is a series about music so the sound has to be on par with the subject matter and man did this show delivered. Hearing the characters jam out was great to listen to and it reminded me of the concerts I've been to.

Character: 5/10 Here's where the series really dropped the ball. Mostly regarding the MC and his two primary love interests. Yukio(MC) is to put it bluntly a pushover and insecure. Also we rarely see either of them one being the childhood friend disappears a couple of episodes in and only makes cameo appearances besides one episode where she and the mc finally go on a date only to be ended when the 2nd and main LI sees them and starts crying. The 2nd LI is quite frankly a bitch who is very hot and cold with the MC. In the beginning she's very supportive of Yukio, but things only go downhill with them from there. The end up on a date and kiss but following this she meets a new guy and brings him to one of Yukio's shows and clings to this guy not realizing or not caring how the MC feels about her but she doesn't main teasing and leading Yukio on but she can't stand it in when he's with someone. The show sadly suffers from this romance arc as Maho(2nd LI) is use as a plot device to create drama. Which is sad cause Maho is awesome otherwise.
