I was expecting this manga to be a bit more of a serious version of Call of the Night. While there are some more intense scenes between the two main leads, I actually found it to be more comedic than Call of the Night. The artstyle is simple but detailed where it needs to be (i.e. not as much background work but a lot of detail in facial expressions). For some reason the art was giving off Uzumaki vibes even though this manga is far from a horror genre. I did feel a bit uncomfortable about the intimate scenes given the age range but that

Ichido dake demo, Koukai Shitemasu (sorry, i am not going to use the cringe english title) is a short and sweet story between a landlord and bummy unemployed tenant. It's a bit similar to Monthly in the Garden with My Landlord but it's a bit spicier. The intimate scenes aren't too graphic though and are actually quite sweet. I really like how the relationship between the characters developed even though the premise is a bit silly (returning "favors" to pay for rent). I really like the more simplistic artsyle as well. It also is clear that the author was intending to do more with the

Emma stands out through its meticulously researched Victorian London setting and authentic portrayal of period romance. While the story of a maid falling in love with a member of the upper class isn't new, the manga elevates this familiar premise through careful attention to historical detail, beautiful artwork, and remarkably believable character reactions to class differences. The series particularly shines in its depiction of Victorian society's rigid class structure and how it affects relationships, all rendered in expressive, detail-rich art that brings 19th century London vividly to life.
PROS: Exceptionally well-researched Victorian setting Beautiful, detailed art style Realistic handling of family conflict Convincing period-appropriate character behaviors Strong side stories after main ... Jan 2, 2025
"Citrus+" is a direct sequel that requires reading the original Citrus series first, but rewards readers with a markedly different tone. Trading the original's toxic dynamics for healthier relationships, this continuation focuses on Mei's emotional growth and her deepening bond with Yuzu, while expanding the story's scope to develop its supporting cast. The refined art style and softer approach create a more wholesome experience.
PROS: Healthier relationship dynamics Strong character development, especially for Mei Better integration of side characters Polished art style More balanced drama CONS: ... Jan 2, 2025
Citrus brings a unique angle to the yuri genre by deeply exploring familial pressure and generational trauma, even though it starts with some common tropes. The art style effectively complements the narrative, particularly excelling at emotional expression and maintaining a good balance between serious and lighter moments. The main characters, especially Mei and Yuzu, show considerable depth and development, though their initial interactions can feel unrealistic. While character reactions become more authentic as the story progresses, early relationship dynamics often stretch credibility. The series will particularly appeal to readers who enjoy dramatic romance and character psychology, and who can look past the problematic early content

"The Quintessential Quintuplets" begins deceptively, presenting itself as a standard harem manga complete with all the expected tropes from the initial hostile relationship between the tutor and students to the classic misunderstandings and comedic situations. However, the series proves to be far more nuanced than its familiar opening suggests.
What starts as a straightforward comedic series about a stern tutor attempting to educate five identical sisters gradually transforms into a thoughtful exploration of relationships and personal growth. The early chapters excel at establishing the dynamics between Fuutaro and the quintuplets through genuinely funny situations that arise from their clashing personalities. The series shines in how it develops ... Jan 2, 2025
[Oshi no Ko]

Oshi no Ko stands as a striking exploration of the entertainment industry's dark underbelly, masterfully weaving together elements of psychological drama, mystery, and social commentary. The series immediately captivates with its shocking opening arc, setting a tone that perfectly balances intrigue with emotional depth.
The series' greatest strength lies in its character writing, particularly with Akane and Kana. Akane's struggles with mental health and the pressures of stardom create some of the most compelling character development in recent manga. Her arc demonstrates how the entertainment industry can simultaneously build and break a person. Kana, meanwhile, serves as a fascinating counterpoint, representing the resilience and determination required ... |
