I think Another was originally a rather odd choice for someone who can't stand anything related to horror. And had it actually been pure horror anime I would have never finished it in the first place.
Another was nicely animated. Especially the "main scenes" (aka somebody-dies-scene) showed that some real effort had been put into them. Even the background aesthetics, that are often overlooked, were eye candy.
The story itself wasn't the show's strongest points. Now, don't get me wrong, it wasn't half bad, but don't expect it to be the greatest things since sliced bread or something. I understand that it's hard to come up with

proper character developement when an asteroid might fall on their head behind the next corner, but when the ending is predictable halfway the anime, I find it a bit disheartening. As for the soundtrack, nothing particularly epic emerged from it. Everything seemed to fit the atmosphere pretty well. Although if I have to mention something, I'd like to point out how badly the opening theme fit the actual anime. Rarely do I have to skip the opening just because it irritates me so much.
Overall, I did enjoy watching Another. I always had that urge to watch the next episode, even with its faults. And I recommend it for everyone who might like a sunday-edition of bloodfest ala Higurashi.
