What a fantastic way to end the culmination of all these seasons!
The final season of, the Duke of Death and His Maid, centered around finally trying to break the witch’s curse, which we were introduced to in season one. And thankfully, the way the conflict was resolved, was handled very well! I couldn’t be happier with how this ended, and especially couldn’t be happier for Victor and Alice!
Further, the revelations that come to fruition in this season were done really well… Often times endings are rushed, or plot-twists and/or plot revelations don’t make sense for the things that lead up to those points,
...
and/or are just convoluted. However, this show didn’t fall to any of those obstacles and truly was managed with care.
Another positive was how the characters were represented, they remained true to themselves till the very end. And even more, much of the character development in this season was nicely portrayed. I was crying right along with the characters when certain things happened… and I wish I could tell them how proud I am of them!
This show is really so special, and I definitely recommend giving it a watch now that it’s complete!!

A show with a lot of potential dismantled by a perplexing romance pairing.
This story centers around the protagonist - Jill - who starts off as sixteen, as her "beloved" crown prince sets out to kill her...and succeeds. Thus, she is reborn into her own life - brought back to when she was ten years old. I do really love these types of stories! In particular, 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!
Watching a protagonist get to re-do their mistakes and make better choices is very appealing to watch - I mean who wouldn't love to get to
...
do that with their own life?
However, despite this being a beloved trope of mine - this story didn't meet the potential it so very well could have. For me, at least.
Here's for the: WHY?
The biggest letdown for me was the age gap of the love pairing. While both characters, in their own right, were interesting, charming, and endearing - having Jiil (a ten-year-old) partnered romantically with Rave (a nineteen-year-old) made for uncomfortable story telling. Being perfectly candid.
Recently, there have been quite a few age-gap romance animes to come out, but this one is the most startling of all. For example - A Girl and her Guard Dog and I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History - to name a few. However, to give those shows credit, the female protagonists were at least teenagers.
Jill being ten for the remainder of the show as the love story progresses - for me - becomes increasingly more uncomfortable. Which, again, was disappointing as the story itself was truly an entertaining watch despite that element.
I know the summary of this story talks of their ages, so people should go into this expecting to get just that - but I truly thought that the writers were going to handle it differently.
How I envisioned it going was that when she was killed at sixteen, and thus reborn to being ten, she would propose to the Dragon King to avoid her perilous fate with the Crown Prince. But...then, after the proposal, they would progress the story back to her being sixteen and showing how different her life is her second time around.
She being sixteen also would have made a lot more sense regarding many of the plot points - aside from the romance. For instance, Jill is portrayed as being incredibly strong, but it's hard to imagine that a ten-year-old is as strong and powerful as she is. It would have been more believable to see her at sixteen with such immense powers. Also, she takes on a leadership role with military men that again - being a ten-year-old is hard to fathom...Would adult men really surrender to a ten-year-old's orders even with their capabilities? Unlikely.
Despite all that, as I said, the story was pretty fun even with the critiques.
As for a quick synopsis on the remainder of the show's elements - the art wasn't bad, but some of the recent romance animes have really been coming up with great stuff and this definitely doesn't uphold the standards they have set. Sound was fine, again, nothing overwhelming bad nor good.
As for whether I recommend this? I think it depends on what your comfort level is. If you can handle age gap stories, then by all means give it a try. But if you're similar to me, and it's not necessarily your cup of tea, then I would steer clear.

My true rating is 7.5
This show overall was good, but the end was very questionable.
Jugyeong is the protagonist and I enjoyed her strive to better herself both mentally and physically. She was a fun and endearing character, as were the love interests she was partnered with.
However, after confessing to the love interest she cared for, and after he reciprocated it, the fact the writers literally wrote him out of the plot was perplexing. They had him leave to take care of his dad in Japan, but I don’t understand why once he was there, he didn’t respond to her calls or texts.
...
Further… if he’s not responding, why didn’t she then get on a plan to Japan to talk with him in person and be there with him in his time of need?
Like, that made NO SENSE whatsoever… and what was even more diabolical was that after being ignored for a few weeks by him, she ends up suddenly dating the other love interest… WHAT?!? How is that logical? Especially when the love interest she confessed to said he was coming back for her! Like if she’s not going to go to Japan to see him, then the least she could have done was wait for him!
Other things that were confusing include the villain of the story and the fact that the people involved in her plans just gave in so easily… or how after being uncovered for being bad she literally never gets brought up again or seen in the show. Further, what was the point in mentioning her drunk mother to never see resolution or an update regarding it?
That all said, the lead up to the end was very enjoyable! It really was, and I still would recommend this to others! But, sadly the end was mismanaged and it puts a damper on the overall experience.

This show is really just romance perfection!
Adachi, the protagonist, turns thirty and comes to find he has the power to read minds. While initially it’s not ideal for him to have this capability, he gets the chance to read a particular person’s mind and everything changes. This person is Kurosawa.
Let me say that Adachi as a protagonist is complex, entertaining, and wholesome… and seeing his character development made me feel so proud for him. On the flip side, Kurosawa as the love interest is equally as multi-faceted and endearing. Their chemistry and love was utterly perfect.
Because these characters are older, their relationship
...
from start to finish was refreshingly mature. I thoroughly loved that this wasn’t another teen romance, and not only that, but that the writers took great care in making their story feel real and believable for their ages. Even more so, the pacing was also perfect, which added to the genuineness of their romance.
The only reason it doesn’t get a 10/10 rating from me is because of the other side characters’ romance. Their storyline wasn’t necessarily bad, but their relationship felt forced, and they inevitably offered nothing to the plot. I honestly would have preferred them removed altogether to get more of Adachi and Kurosawa.
Despite the minor critique, this was truly wonderful and I HIGHLY recommend watching!!!!

It’s funny because when AOT first started airing, I was actively watching it… but I stopped because I wanted to get through it with a certain friend, which never happened. Recently, I decided to finally get around to watching it again… and so here are my final thoughts regarding season 1!
Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are fantastic protagonists for the show. They are well thought-out, strong, and likable characters… And that’s how many of the characters in this show are, they’re all complex and well written and captivating! In addition, the plot does a good job of showing how much these characters struggle, making the moments
...
of their success feel incredibly satisfying… I was so proud of them every time they had a little win!
However, the biggest problem I had with the show, was having to believe that society remained stagnant for 100 years, while they had looming titans ready to take them at any moment.
Think about how much our society has changed in 100 years? Fashion has changed, weapons have changed, tech has changed… We have evolved so much in that span…and to think that their society didn’t, especially considering how at risk their survival was, just perplexes me.
They should have created better weapons in that time to protect and fight them against the Titans, ways to get information on the titans, setting up booby traps to keep the titans from getting close to them… like pits, land mines, a moat, or even a ring of fire! Their necks were their weakness, they could have set a trap that if a Titan steps on a certain spot then arrows get shot at their necks…
What about fighting them by using gas or poisons … Grenades…. Bombs… they could have developed specialized arrows like with bombs so they wouldn’t even have to fight them up close to get their necks.
They should have reformed their fighting styles and/or plans… they could have cut off their appendages first then gotten their neck before their bodies regenerated…The fact that they continue to use methods that aren’t working and literally sending people to their graves instead of trying to find a better alternative to fight these things is preposterous!
They should have also gone underground or potentially set themselves up in a dome, which would’ve protected them way better than that measly wall system!
Lastly, they should have also discovered more about the Titans than their necks were fatal… I can’t believe that in 100 years, they only RECENTLY caught some titans to do experiments on them… like? It makes the people seem so lazy and weak… and that to me is so horribly frustrating.
You’re telling me that in 100 years, only Eren is the only one that doesn’t want to resign to their fate?
Needless to say, I have very polarizing thoughts…. There is a lot of good story-telling, a lot of amazing characters, and I still enjoyed watching it despite my critiques, but it does have major plot holes….
That aside, I still definitely recommend watching it!

YES!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS SO SO GOOD!!!!!!!
I have to say, I love shows where a “without power” character suddenly gains an ability that makes them stronger than nearly everyone! Black Clover and My Hero Academia being perfect examples!
However, one of the commonalities that has been hard for me, as an adult viewer, is that most of these shows center around teens - or younger. I have been BEGGING for more shows… GOOD SHOWS… for us older fans, and KAIJU NO 8 DELIVERS TENFOLD!!!
Kafka, the protagonist was a wonderful representation for us! He’s motivated and hardworking despite all that he lacks, but most of all,
...
he’s still mentally youthful! He and Reno’s friendship brought out how, us adults, are still fun! Which was so great to watch! I loved their dynamic!
The other characters were equally as captivating, truly badass!! They were all so cool, especially the females!! I was so envious of how epic they were in battle! I can’t wait to see how things pan out for them all as the story unfolds.
Speaking of, the story was just straight up fabulous. Engaging, funny, visually pleasing…overall this was such a delight!!! I want to watch it all over again!
Highly recommend!

At first I thought, Ouran Host Club meets Vampire Knight (minus the incest) … what more could you ask for?! Surely it was going to be great!
And then I watched it…
Now, it was watchable. It was even enjoyable. But, it was also horribly frustrating.
First, Mito as a protagonist was really annoying. She self-sabotages herself all the time, in ways that are HUGELY perplexing. If there is a clear path to getting her happily ever after, she will run the other way. Literally! It makes no sense!!!! There were countless times she easily could have said something, and ended all this unnecessary
...
drama, and she didn’t. Why? Who knows!
Ruka, one of the love interests is pretty lackluster. I mean, I’ll give the show credit that both the love interests love Mito no matter their gender. And I like that, I really do. But, what does Mito like about him? I don’t know! We don’t know anything about him other than he’s a vampire.
Ren on the other hand has slightly more personality. But even he doesn’t offer enough to show me why he’s a worthy potential boyfriend.
It’s one thing in reverse harems when there are a bunch of characters vying for the MC’s love. It makes sense in that instance why we don’t get more than surface level because there’s simply not enough time. But this had only two boys, and so there should have been plenty to show us the type of people they really are.
Honestly, despite the major issues, I’d still recommend it. I’m desperate for new romance animes so I’ll take what I can get. And this does at least offer a good amount of romance! But this could have been amazing, and it just didn’t get there.

I have to say I’ve been thoroughly enjoying some of the latest villainess stories to come to us. And this one is no exception.
As with most isekai, someone passes on and thus becomes princess pride from their favorite video game. What I really liked about this one as opposed to other stories with similar plots, is that the main protagonist, princess pride, doesn’t win over her people by being just kind and pretty. Her intellect was much more valued in this show, and was the reason people began to devote themselves to protecting her or supporting her on her endeavors to become queen.
This one really
...
reminded me of the one I just watched, 7th Time Loop, where the MC also uses her intelligence to succeed - not only in her personal life, but in her relationships. Her intellect was something that was admired, more than anything else about her. but what I really liked about both of these shows, is that even though they had the girl boss mentality, they still allowed for romance. 7th Time Loop has a lot more romance than this one, but I don’t mind that this one’s lacking in that because there’s a lot more love interests to be had.
I really hope they do a second season and she spends more time with each of the love interests and thus having more romance between them. But, even without that the show was still very fun to watch. I highly highly recommend!

I would rate this a 7.5, but because I did thoroughly enjoy watching this, I rounded up.
SUZUME surrounds two protagonist, Suzume and Souta, as they discover doors that when opened, unleash a monster. And if the doors are not then shut, the monster will engulf their world and end it.
Why the monster does this? We are not informed. Why the monster exists? We are not informed.
In fact, there is a lot about the plot that is questionable. For instance, they say a human cannot enter a door because it is technically the afterlife, so only people who have passed on, can reside in
...
the land beyond the doors. However Suzume, as a child - unknowingly - entered a door. And was able to enter the door again as an adult, without dying. Which is very contradictory.
Despite the potholes, I will say that I enjoyed the world that was built here. Aesthetically, it was beautiful to watch. And the story itself was still very much entertaining.
To add to what was charming, the characters were fun and likable. First, Suzume and Souta had nice chemistry! I think the only thing I would’ve liked more is if Souta wasn’t so much older. Rather, have him also as a teenager because then they could have pushed a romantic relationship. I think having more romance in this movie between those two characters would have been really nice. Also, the side characters in this movie were similarly very enjoyable! They felt purposeful and not wasted, which I appreciate because many shows/movies have characters that don’t meet up to their potential!
Truly, the pros outweigh the cons!
With all that said, definitely recommend watching!

Honestly, would give this a 6.5 if I could!
The demon prince of Momochi house centers around Himari finding out that her late parents left her a house. Upon arriving to this house, she discovers however that she’s not the only one residing there… enters Aoi and friends.
If you have seen Kamisama kiss, this is incredibly similar. The same can be said regarding fruits basket. They all have: a down-on-her-luck girl ending up at a home full of boys. Then decides to reside with them and help them with their troubles. Even though I actually love stories like that, this one couldn’t stand up to
...
the other better written plots, and better chemistry between the love interests.
Also, I think a big hardship for this show is that the manga came out in 2013, during a time where stories were written differently. Because of this, it doesn’t compete with the new romance animes being released today. It already feels nostalgic and outdated even though it’s technically new. If this had been released as an anime back in 2013, when it was originally written, I think that this would’ve done a much better job with audiences.
That all said, I still found it entertaining for what it is. I still think the show is worth watching. Just set different expectations, and you’ll have a good time!
