Of all the strong-powered-up MC protagonists we love to see in fantasy anime, I'll have to say that "Saikyou no Shienshoku "Wajutsushi" de Aru Ore wa Sekai Saikyou Clan wo Shitagaeru" (here on referred to as "The Most Notorious Talker class") MC is different.
While he is someone who has the weakest 'Job' , he's not someone wanting to reach the absolute top out of spite for the world. From the very 1st ep, we are shown that he is someone who admired his gradpa 'Overdeath' and trained under him on how to survive as a Seeker who's Job is a Talker. Noel basks under
...
the admiration he has for his grandfather and the legacy he has left, while also trying to make a name for himself. He wants to be knows as Noel, the grandson of Overdeath AND the strongest Seeker with the strongest clan.
It's actually a little insane watching him draw tactics and strategies to attain his lofty dreams, breaking conventional rules by being resilient, using the murky priviledges that the world he lives in as stepping stones, throwing no caution to morlas, and is on a quest to gather the strongest members for his clan, and exponentially make his name infamous. In his own words, "Bad publicity is still publicity".
His character design reminds me a lot of Richard Plantagenet from "Requiem of the Rose King" (I've read the manga, not watched the anime) – Noel's very femme face, beautiful eyelashes, short black hair, stylish fluffy black over coat under his short-sleeved crimson turtle-neck top, wearing grey trousers with long high-heeled boots, kept reminding me of how stylish Richard looked in the initial volumes of the manga (he too had a similar tight-fit style, but all black). Not to mention how they both are extremly cold, almost-heartless, supremely cunning strategist, always being denoted as 'snakes' slithering their way to the top against every and all odds. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if somehow Noel's character was inspired by Richard's, but that's probably just me.
Besides, it's actually great to see a protaginist who might look femme but has a muscular build (with no character design inconsistencies thoughout) and is oozing male-ness, albeit in a villain-like manner. While I was also reminded of Naofumi from "The Rise of the Shield Hero", who also strives to become powerful and strong using unconventional means, Noel is a little more unique in the fact that, he doesn't 'become' villain-like, he IS. That's his personality through and through solely because he understood that to be a Seeker and not be looked down upon by the powerful, he must BE powerful; and for that he must always be 2 steps ahead (if not further) at all times - it truly is a play of how guts-y can you continue to be. Besides, Noel isn't portrayed to be a villain, in my opinion at least, you cannot label him as "good" or "evil" - it's just the way it is with him and while sure, your morals are hurt watching him, but you know stopping is not an option and Noel's not looking to either.
And that's really why I stuck with the anime - Noel is the reason you'd want to watch "The Most Notorious Talker class". In Season 1, I felt like that the story is still being built. It introduces you to what the Abyss is, the rating of said Abyss, the various levels of beasts, what Jobs are, the mafias, who are the Seekers and the entire process of how they work, how they can build parties and move to making clans, and finally the Regalias. And the way its presented like you're hearing it from Noel directly.
The story or setting isn't anything new per say, having RPG gaming-like language & terms involved makes it a lot easier to follow, but I still felt like you can get a little lost with the story. I think the important aspect really is to see how Noel overcomes all the challenges thrown at him while he continues to rise.
It gets better as it progresses but story is still a sold 6.3/10 to me.
Music is good. KOHTA YAMAMOTO usually does a very attarctive job with sound - that's the only way I can put it.
The casting is also pretty great. I genuinely think that every important character had a unique voice to listen to which was interesting.
The season ended at a good cliffhanger and Idk if there's gonna be a season 2- i can only hope.
Tl;dr? - Watch this anime for Noel. If you reading this is someone who loved Richard in "Requiem of the Rose King" and maybe Naofumi in "Legend of the Shield Hero" / someone who enjoyes powered-up super undefeatable strong MCs kicking ass, this is for you. Be patiet with the story & have fun watching Noel!

Gonna take a huge controversial opinion on this big platform for "The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor" anime — if one can just look past the (justified) problematics of a minor betrothed to a teenage-adult, the series is a treat.
And I mean what I said. Cautionary disclaimer follows: it's *okay* to not take fiction as fact or reality. This is quite literally a safe space where no real-life actors on screen are being paid for acting out characters. It's creative - it's as fictional as it can get so let's not dwell too much into it.
So, should you pass this up even if
...
it's absolutely not up to your palate? - well....yea, please watch what you really want lol.
For those who can conform, here's my review.
The story this anime has BY FAR makes up for the romance issue. I definitely agree that, although setting & plot-motivated, it could have still been remedied. Okay let's get past this already. Moving on–from the time you meet Jill on screen, you're in love with her, and hooked. There is no return until you click on next, next, next episode, and it's over and you're feeling left with "wait! what?? How is this over?? They have had to greenlit this for S2 right? right??"
It's such a rollercoaster of a ride - the myth-and-magic infused dark political upheavals and dynamics of this show just has you by the throat. I'm not gonna lie but Jill kept giving me flashbacks of "Youjo Senki" - she is just that powerful! scary? no not really, but truly a great soldier character. Her character is also well-complimented with Shuu Uchida's voice acting (my 1st time hearing her) & it's a great combo - the talent really shines and you just cannot help but love Jill! (My only wish was to see more of her 16-yo self because that's badass too)
Next, we have our love interest the Dragon Emperor voiced by Kikunosuke Toya (can you believe that this VA had voiced Chouji in "Windbreaker"? the difference is contrasting, but an easy fan fav VA for sure) - feared by all, definitely has unresolved abandonment and abuse issues (with a lolicon complex maybe), but to Jill, he is the one looking after the house, waiting for her to return from the battlefield with the dining table set with sweet bakeries and pastries, meat, veggies, and a whole heart of love and bashfulness. He still has hope for a happy ending because of her. Can you tell I enjoyed his character? (of course you can) - I also liked his 'dark moody' character whenever he's pressed and angry too. I think the spectrum of his emotions are well-done in his character that it doesn't feel 'cringy' or too 'try-hard' and that is definitely a praise.
Jill and the Emperor's relationship grows, albeit a little strenuously and somewhat at a disapproving pace for Jill. But the latter is just trying to survive and marrying the emperor is her trump card. So what can be done, the least is to fall in love and make sure that the dark future of the kingdom does not repeat itself and she, once again, doesn't end up dying.
So far, it all should sound a little like "7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!" And you'll not be wrong. "The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor" would be if "7thTime Loop" and "Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke's Mansion" had an adopted daughter and "Youjo Senki" was an influential aunt (minus the isekai)— it makes a lot of sense to me so that's why I wrote it. It's a very good senin-jousei rom-com that has you seated throughout. And speaking of the 'comedy' in the romance - it's alright. it's at times pretty funny and other times I was neutral about it (the only 'comedy' that i nodded my head to was probably when the adults in the anime also wanted to punch the Emperor for pushing himself onto a minor)
Okay (this is already pretty long so) a few quick good points:
- animation - JC Staff is cooking in their kitchen when the cooks are good. 10/10 no notes
- overall voice acting - good stuff 8.5/10
- music/song - OST is pretty good; Shuhei Mutsuki is the composer and there are some pretty solid A+ in the album
so, TL;DR - should you watch it? - Yes. Absolutely. You should. If you're one who understands that fiction is not real-world, this can easily be a higher-mid story series for you
Overall rating - 7.85 out of 10 (someone please fix the Review radar for this anime)

The synopsis of Nina the Starry bride really piqued my interest. I love jousei anime with strong female leads, a diversity of characters, politcal upheavels, the cunningness, the love, the romance, the drama, the power dynamics - everything that the historical fantasy setting has to offer. But after completing the 1st season, something still felt a little...fumbled, in my opinion.
(I'm gonna try to keep this as spoiler free as possible)
I'll start with what I liked:
The story & setting - 10/10 couldn't really get any better. It doesn't shy away from showing things the people in power do with a shrug. Fortna's King has to
...
be a prime example of that. The setting really captures the prime of its time ruled by monarchs and the confusing cunning strategies they come up with to keep their power and domination.
The pacing of the anime, at first I felt was really going a tad too fast, but now, I think it's fine. It cuts to the chase as really so much is happening in the 2nd part.
The characters - But a lot of the setting and story is character dependent, as far as my understanding. They move the story. You have beautiful beautiful Azure, and gorgeous gorgeous Sett as the two 'princes' opposite each other. Both very much the love interest for our beautiful, child-like, tomboyish "priestess princess" Nina - I mean Alisha. Yes, Sett comes into the story a lot later, but I just cannot with these two male characters okay? They are gorgeous and I honestly stayed more to admire them than actually watch the anime (I'm digressing but we're gonna circle back to this point)
The supporting characters move the plot forward by a lot. They truly are 'supporting characters' doing their job right. I think it's the second part of the anime where they truly shine - Anne & Hikami, and the King of Galgada.
The animation - It's actually very pretty. Apart from the charming main character design, the clothes they wear are beautifully elaborate and filled with details, but keeping it simple. Apart from the names of our characters, its the clothes that really give "Asian-inspired fictional setting." It also reminded me a lot of "7th Time Loop" anime animation because of the similarity but of course, "Nina the Starry Bride" is not produced by the same studio as that. However, I think I really love this kind of animation - the characters just look so beautiful it's a treat to my eyes. ESPECIALLY Sett and Azure - like my god did the animators go all out in creating these stunning two men! (see? we circled back to the point) Now, I like myself some nice, overall, great animation - who doesn't really? It's all the audience want. But, to be headover heels for the animation of certain characters? That's different. And they have me with these two. Honest.
The cast - 11/10 bless the casting team that chooses Umehara and Uchiyama as the main male voice actors - music to my ears~ 11/10 no notes.
The OST/music - OP & ED of the anime are pretty and relevant. They have a charming vibe that fits the story over all. But to me, it's the OST that truly shines in this anime. Composed by Natsumi Tabuchi, the soundtrack is just beautiful! I've listened to the album twice while completeing the series (took me 2 days) - and I honestly don't have words to express how lovely the soundtrack is! Anyone reading my review, please give it a listen if you haven't!
And that's all the good points I had about Nina the Starry Bride.
And now the fumbling parts...
Our main female protaginist Nina, is probably my main point of fumbling. As someone who is a stand-in for an actual princess, her character shows that lack of upbringing a princess should be having (you know, because class distinction and all). Nina's real identity is that she's an orphan who is to play the Princess and of course, as the story progresses, she falls in love with (I'm gonna say both) the prince(s) - with difference in affinity of course.
She feigns grace and tries her best to make-believe the role she is filling in. Where she continuously fails though is to grow - while being straightforward in her approach on everything and being 'different' than the norm, she never learns to actually use the very real position of power given to her as 'the priestess who holds Fate' - everytime there is monologoues of how she's gonna do it, she'll change fate and protect the people she love, and I'm left constantly waiting for her to take that action - unless praying a 100 times for things to go her way counts as 'actions'. She is also gullible - which is fair because given her real background, she'd be - and she remains that way throughout believing everything that people say to her - because she trusts eveyone. Again, fair to her character as she has no allies in a monarchial world, so of course she throws herself head first with acts of kindness.
But when does the action part happen? Throughout the anime, she's the damsel that needs saving all the time, regardless of whether she's the one taking the first step to change things. She is powerless in her position when things go out of her comprehensive control and when it does, she is in anxiety mode spiralling out of control (absolutely relatable behaviour).
So what gives really? That's what I'm left with. The way I see it, she is a tragedy princess (so far) and the ending of this anime (should it get a S2/S3) won't be a happy one. No matter what she tries to do, as a woman who's path is literally to be a trophy wife - a key pawn for political reasosn, her tries are futile - whether she be Alisha or Nina - she is always shown that there's only so much she can do until she's shut down. At the end of it all, her importance lies in being a beautiful pawn. The only interpersonal relationships she has formed that go beyond this are with Azure, Sett (but it unclear what his intentions are completely), Anne and Hikami.
So what is my conclusion really? I think S1 ended abrubptly and I really hope there is a season 2. What kept me watching was the casting and the characterizations. What left me puzzled was Nina herself. There is plot and it's going somehwere but a 12 episode season felt more like a trailer than a complete seasonal arc. The end credit left me on an aticipating note though, so while overall my score is a 6/10, i think that it has room to score higher.

**This review comes after watching the anime series & the Spain-hen movie**
I am someone who enjoys my anime without really caring to leave a review but the review meter for this one is completely cooked on MAL so i wanna make a contribution if anyone wants to watch "Dakaichi" in this day and age, i.e., The BL space of 2024-going-into-2025.
To watch Dakaichi, you have to acknowledge the existence of anime that are "Junjou Romantica", "Sekaichi Hatsukoi", "Hitorijime My Hero", "Tasogare out of Focus" (and the likes) where the 'top' absolutely devours (pun intended) the 'bottom'. As someone who isn't a fan, personally, of the above
...
mentioned anime, and leans more towards the types of "Sasaki to Miyano", "Given", & even "Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard" - I have to admit, I ate Dakaichi up (and it ate me up too).
Basically, there is an audience for this kind of BL/yaoi content and, for them, this anime is a breath of fresh air with its concept, spice & steaminess, story, & characters. The anime is also well-made enough to be palatable to audience who aren't all that into the source's uncensored material (imo). I, personally, love seeing adult men put into the fiasco of love and relationships bcs truly there is a dearth of it all in mainstream media. As an adult myself, I am looking out for queerness—even 'bait' ones—in the anime space that isn't all high-school set.
Now that I've set the grounds for who this is recommended for, let me outline a few points re:Dakaichi - good and bad –
the good:
• characters
• story (to an extent)
• aesthetic backgrounds
• animation (facial expressions and such)
• the spicy and steamy actions - truly will have your toes curling
• the voice actors - standing ovation
• the troupe of desire as consumption - i LOVED it, I LIVE for this, I LOVE how well it's done here! - it's literally introduced in the v 1st ep - "eat or be eaten"
• venturing 'difficult-to-portray-on-screen' grounds & executing them with a well-enough balance of tact, tenderness, passion & lust
• soundtrack - this was far more distinctive to appreciate in Spain-hen. I really liked the music/OST for the movie!
the bad:
• story - i didn't really care all that much since my eyes were hooked on all the characters, especially our MCs. besides, i think there is no story per say, just all episodic in nature. the story are the characters honestly.
• animation - given that this was taken up by studio CloverWorks, my expectations were higher. Mind you, i didn't full-on dislike the animation as it was overall acceptable and well-done but it also wasn't anything exceptional to gawk at—something that CloverWorks nails at doing. For me, I'd say two things stood out to me most: the weird shading effect b/w characters' chin & neck area. Made me think they all had weird beards lol. 2nd would be Takato's character design—it was inconsistent as the story moved forward after ep 1. His figure started to become thinner than he was introduced & also more feminine looking. Of course, Takato is supposed to be the 'bottom'/more fem-like, but I wish that his character design was taken care of more.
• subtitles - why do we have typos on a final official product like what?
Overall rating for me - 8.5/10 — I really really enjoyed this show. It had me feeling all sorts of things. The impact was exceptional & different from the usual 'moe'!
I do want to close out with saying just one thing—even though its common sense—while i know & agree & understand that representation in fiction is important. Let's not take *every* fiction so seriously. yaoi/BL comes in varying different flavors for everyone to enjoy. that's the beauty of it. that's the fun & excitement of it. and we should encourage that to help make this genre more accessible, creating demand so that studios & creators take more stories up for screen adaptations!

high card = the good looking sad boys' club
haha
not a bad series actually - i'm glad i didn't trust the ratings & went in pretty blind. the animation was pretty good & the story was ok i guess. the entire package was pretty entertaining i'll say. i definitely like the borrowed aesthetics of Kingsmen - i enjoy the movies a lot so probably that bias plays in High Card too.
the anime tries to move the story both character and plot wise which is probably what makes it quite lackluster, but honestly if one doesn't think too hard about the series (or if you're
...
here w masterpiece expectations), High Card has the attraction to keep you curious enough for you to click on the next episode, and the next, and the next, until you've reach ep24 & it's over.
6.8 out of 10 overall :)

If you take certain aspects of Zootopia and paste it with certain aspects of Owari no Seraph, you will kind of get the main story of BNA.
But thats a good thing, because Zootopia and Owari no Seraph are one of my favs & have rewatched each multiple times.
Its probaby why i liked BNA as well, other than the fantastic animation and art and colours. Its an enjoyable anime overall but doesnt go in too deep. Rather straight forward.
My fav has to be Oogami. He is what gives BNA the "hot" aspect :3
Also i think they should have been a throuple. I

the saving grace of this anime was Umehara Yuuichirou (voices Kamitani Hayato, which was such a blessed surprise for me) and the cuteness of Kotarou really. the kids were also adorable in their absolutely cheery, indescribable kiddy way.
story - umm, there really isn't any but at least it's wholesome ig?
characters - my umehara biased-ass likes Hayato best
art - looked straight out of 2008/2010 really than 2018 -standard
that's all there is really - this is a pretty laid back anime - a bit 'too' laid back maybe cause this anime doesn't really accomplish much - in all honesty idk what that premise was other
...
than to show a bunch of cute kid characters and they shenanigans which i'm sure there is a (RIGHT) audience for - i know i did find some episodes cute and fluffy but that's kind of it.
infact, this actually reminded me of this other anime - which i actually recommend if anyone wants to watch something cute and laid back - "Mira no Kaikata" / How to keep a Mummy - Mii-kun is ADORABLE and u can never get enough of its cuteness really.
overall verdict - could have been better in some ways i think. story isn't very engaging.

"The Way of the Househusband" was actually very entertaining and I liked it very much!
I thought the art style was pretty great! - the manga panel-like adaptation from page-to-screen was kinda neat! it did not bother me at all - heck, i sometimes forgot that that what's happening cause my brain kinda 'filled in' the parts that needed animation? (if that makes sense?)
i love this kinda anime where ur extremely eccentric characters gets pulled into the mundane normie-ness of life haha.
also the MCs love for his wife sometimes really spills out & i find it adorable >///<
there's not much of a story
...
as everything is pretty episodic & the characters are all 'developed' enough for viewers to enjoy them as-is.

"Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting" imo, is a misleading title 😂I was expecting something similar to how "The Way of the Househusband" did it however, this one had a story and more than just babysitting.
plainly, this anime is more about Kirishima Tooru's life has a feisty yakuza and his soft-spot for their boss's daughter Yaeka - who is super cute I liked her a lot actually. there was no guide on how Tooru babysits Yaeka so yes, i'm right in my opinion.
story - good except that one "streaming" episode
characters - good too
animation - good
soundtrack/songs - decent i guess cause nothing stuck to me as noteworthy
it's
...
a solid 7.5

i thought i'd enjoy Dekiru Neko a lot more. don't get me wrong - i did. the opening episode was super aesthetic and detailed in terms of animation goes (GoHands DUH!!!). and i know what i was going into too so i kept my expectations of enjoying this one at par.
i think what fell flat has to do with the last few episodes where it felt like "welp, we ran out of our main story so let's run with some repeats and call them 'flashbacks of the past :D' "
and it didn't really work :/
because they already did that in the main story! how
...
many times you gonna repeat it?? it's like they made 4 more episodes to qualify for a 12-episode short anime.
that was disappointing because it absolutely pulled me out of whatever enjoyment i was getting from a housewife cat doing household chores lol.
i mean the premise is unique and the concept of Dekiru Neko really works! the episodic stories also has good storytelling. I like the overall sentiment that sometimes u just need someone to look after you when ur entire life and being is enveloped in making money and making sure ur job sticks so u don't lose ur basic needs of survival - it's pretty realistic setting! & Fukuzawa is a relatable working woman for many i'm sure (even if reviews here slam her for being "messy" and "stupid" and "irresponsible" - why don't you try doing everything in ur house AND a job huh? let's see u win in life hmmm?)
anyway, overall it's a solid 7 for me and i hope to pick up the manga someday cause i did enjoy the anime :)
