HUH???????????? WTH?? I know you know that! While now I hadn't understood the whole deeper theme of the show, the entire journey and different weird shit worlds they go through have been really fun. Sonny Boy is a show that splits opinions and it's because the show is doing things that you don't see in anime anymore. A show that challenges to do something genuinely original, different, and does not pander to the audience by spelling out everything... Sonny Boy is doing is something amazing and very different. do agree. Each episode always feels like it has a point and a reason to exist. For me, It doesn't matter if I'll be ever able to understand it or not. It felt like a natural journey where the show-makers don't force me to understand or dissect the deep shit in the show it feels like I have a choice if you want to or not. I'm genuinely surprised that the idea that this anime should not be explained or kept vague isn't more common. Obviously, certain things must be explained (usually character developments or more significant, long-term plot devices), but generally things just need to be thematically fitting with this anime. Everyone comes at this show like it's a puzzle, but it's not; it's art. Viewers are expected to find their own meaning in the show's stories, not their own explanations.
Sonny Boy felt like a show much more concerned about making you think than about telling a story, but somewhere along the way, it got me invested in the characters enough that episodes like eps 11 hit me pretty hard. What really stuck with me was the portrayal of companionship between these kids. Sure there were some assholes in the midst of the crew but in the end, they really built the best relationships between the cast. The series is more about human growth and the bonds of friendship - rather than a mystery show. It has been a really fun ride where the character growth has been subtle but at the same time visible. I feel one of the themes of this show is to reject fantasy and accept real life with all its happiness and sadness, in all its greatness. There are not many works that can show life in both their highs and lows in such a straightway. It doesn't preach to you. It doesn't delve into misery. It's sincere, it's human. It's made me think about the way I see life and how I interact with others. It made me confront with life and death. It made me think about how should I live. Not because I don't want to die and I'm afraid of death. Not because I must keep on living. It made me consider that I haven't valued every second that I have in this world. I shouldn't care only about living. I should care about how I live. I know this won't reach them, but I want to thank the creators. This is one of the few times when a piece of art made me reconsider my place in the world. I'll try to remember as much as I can. So many things going on and so much symbolism and story crammed into it, it's the kind that begs you to watch it again and again as it has so much to show, I would probably have to rewatch this to understand what it is trying to say fully, but man is it amazing.
This show is just amazing. There are so many things to love, from the weird plot to the visuals to the music that is used throughout each and every episode. It genuinely looks amazing every time and sounds amazing as well with very little music used but when it is used - it fits the atmosphere really well. Sonny Boy is a story about love and subservience, one that I strongly recommend anyone to check out, even if they have no interest in the show. Though, as you can imagine, I would also advise people to give this unique series a spin in its entirety. I’m well aware that Sonny Boy isn’t a show for everyone. In a way, it’s a show for no one other than its author, who has been allowed to be self-indulgent to a degree anime rarely ever sees. But, if you’re the type of viewer that can get immersed in someone’s nearly uncompromised worldview, I can’t imagine a more interesting work than Sonny Boy.
Sonny Boy - a beautiful, surrealistic show that isn't for everyone but rewards those who pay attention and concentrate. The series definitely has built an impression on it being pretentious, artsy, and hard to understand but to me, I think it's been one of the best shows in the past few years. Madhouse consistency of story and animation both is something most studios dream of achieving. I am glad to have found and watched this masterpiece. It's that kind of anime that will let you learn different lessons every time you watch it. This definitely deserves a rewatch at some point. This is a modern masterpiece that i can confidently say this and Odd taxi are probably the best animes I have watched in years.

In its essence, The Tatami Galaxy is a story of character growth, a story of self-discovery. You’re looking for that fated person when all along, that person was right in front of you. You’re looking for something more in your life, when all along you already have everything around you. We tend to lose ourselves in our pursuit for happiness that we often overlook the little things that we have. Those messages are, firstly, the importance of vulnerability in going after what is truly important rather than living in delusion. Secondly, the importance of appreciating the beauty in both the good and bad that makes

Some series, I have to sit with each episode after finishing it, just processing it. Mushishi is a big one. Since each episode is self-contained, and the messages often resonate with me a lot, I'm often left just sitting there for a while, with it going through my head. Mushishi is a very quiet, evocative anime, perfect for when the world sucks and you just want to relax. The storylines are sometimes quite dark , but it reminded me of the old folktales in which nature is not only a source of life, but a powerful and dangerous entity. Watching Mushishi is absolutely hilarious sometimes

The visual aspect, it’s shouldn’t be mentioned anymore just how good the animation is, considering it is from KyoAni after all. Yamada’s storyboards really took advantage of the skill of its in-house animators, and even the smallest twitches and glances feel so lively that they convey emotions by themselves. The movie itself has two different styles, one is what is mostly used throughout the movie, showing real life as it is, and another, children book style that tells the story of Liz and the Blue Bird. Both are truly eye candy in their own ways.
I really recommend this movie, and particularly because you don’t ... Jun 21, 2021

March Come in Like a Lion is the work that popped my interest for slice of life. It touches me on a personal level for its real depiction of characters and desolation. Everything is well worth the time. We can't really defeat our memories and past experiences - March come in Like a Lion would state - and there will always be someone reaching out to us. The animation combined with the soundtrack and the relationship between the characters is ... |
