This is my first review so go easy on me ;)
So, where do we start? Charlotte, the first time I saw this anime on MAL and read the synopsis I thought to myself "ok, this one is definitely worth watching. It probably will have a fair amount of drama and deal with serious issues regarding the plot elements". However, after watching the first few episodes, I saw that I was completely mistaken. The anime had a slice of life feel to it, and many episodes ( Like the baseball game or the hunt after a random ability wielder) didn't give the story a big push. ... And then suddenly episode 6 came, there was a huge shift in the story progression, where a lot of things happened in a single episode and sometimes you were left wondering why did they include filler episodes when they wanted to deal with such stories and drama? I felt it was rushed. New characters were introduced but none of them (except maybe one I'm not going to name for spoiler reasons) had a decent amount of character development. They could've either gone with a complete slice of life/comedy story or started the anime from the beginning concentrated on the drama and the serious parts of the story. They also could've gone with a second season/2-cour anime, but the way the last 2-3 episodes were rushed, It's very unlikely. That's why I gave the story a fair 6, It had A LOT of potential, but in my opinion, a large chunk of it was wasted.
The art was great. The combination of a great usage of various colours and a good drawing style created a great anime in terms of art style. Most of the characters were drawn beautifully and I couldn't find anything wrong with the art or the drawing style.
The music and songs were great too, they made a wonderful use of the music, especially the timing. One example would be episode 13. I just felt really drawn in by the music of this anime.
Character development is another section I found some errors with. Some characters were not given much time to shine, others came and went as they pleased, with one character being completely absent from a few episodes. The main characters had decent development in my mind and I found myself liking their personalities.
Overall, I enjoyed the anime, but I can't help thinking how much of a better show this could've been. Still, I recommend you to watch It because overall, this is a good show.
