Similarities: Both anime contain a main character who is half human and half monster. (Half-Youmu in KnK and Half-Ghoul in Tokyo Ghoul). Both anime and dark fantasies type anime with elements of supernatural and horror. The OP and ED's of both anime are stunning, and some of the best I've heard, KnK taking a more J-Pop/Rock route and Tokyo Ghoul a J-Rock/Metal style, either way great soundtracks in both. Differences: In Kyoukai no Kanata, the MC has a love interest, meanwhile in Tokyo Ghoul, the MC does not. Kyoukai no Kanata is much more fantasy based, while Tokyo Ghoul is more focused on suspense and horror. This gives Tokyo Ghoul a much darker and gory feel to it. KnK is animated much more fluidly than Tokyo Ghoul since KnK was animated by the stunning KyoAni, but that's not to say the art is bad in Tokyo Ghoul, it's just slightly more average looking. Either way, I'd give Tokyo Ghoul a shot if you have some time on your hands, it's airing this season (Summer 2014) and likewise to watch Kyoukai no Kanata if you can. Both are good anime.
