It's a Good anime but i'am very Disappointed.
Since i was a teenager, i really thought this show supposed to be a masterpiece and now i am 20 years of age and today i happened to watch this particular show and finish it within a day, But i am very Disappointed to know that the show is REALLY BAD.
I love the settings on the parents and the vanilla school friends that lasted till old age premise, but that's it. so 7/10
This show storytelling is a GARBAGE
This show storywriting is a GARBAGE
This shows FAILED really bad to built a proper character development. We as the spectactors

hardly feel any attachments nor affections towards the characters because the lack of proper character buildup. The 'Arc' with Kayo was quite good but after she leaves and move with her grandma i didn't really feel any attachment towards that character, and i feel like there's something lacking, maybe the lack of proper character development where the viewer can feel attached to the character? because its feels like too one sided, and Kayo doesn't really express herself too well at the same time her character is not really the type of character that the viewers would be easily feel attached to nor her character are that 'relevant' or 'important' to our mc in the first place by all means, because Satoru basically saves Kayo out of regret that " He could've save her in the previous life ". So it feels like the reasoning behind his 'duty' to save Kayo is a regret, and instead of a premise where the viewers can be invited to feel attachments towards the story, it feels more like Satoru doing this out of an obligation and a ' Sacred Duty ' manifested out of regret.
But at that point of the show, Kayo is still pretty much a stranger to us the viewer, so when we part ways with Kayo we didn't really get to know her better yet to feels any ACTUAL attachments.
Now let's talk about Airi, she's a good girl but for some reason her character feel 'soulless' if i were to said it she feels more like a 'bot' instead of a character, the only reasoning for her to be that kind was just because she wanted to trust someone, we didn't really knew why Airi have crush on Satoru exactly, so in my eyes the Character of Airi is soulless. She's too straightforwardly kind without any repercussions nor proper character reasoning that leveraged that character trait.
Lets talk about Naya Nakanishi (Fatty wife), i honestly doesn't feel a thing towards her nor i believe the author/producer wants us to care about her considering the absolute little amount of screentime and character development invested into her. And it's pretty much the same case for Misato(Bullykid). Considering the amount of ' Nostalgic Vibes ' the producer/author orchestrated in the last episode that are heavily romanticizing their ' friendship union ' when actually in the past they BARELY KNEW EACH OTHER (except for the boys),
It's like the producer/author of this show is trying to mix multiple range of Genre on this show, but it doesn't feels like its working.
Well i am happy for Satoru happy end by meeting with Airi the sweet girl again out of fate, and i am fine with Kayo married Hiromi because he's CUTE and kind. Honestly i thought this show was going to be a masterpiece of a show when its actually just another ordinary anime, I am DISSAPOINTED.
If i were to take a candidate of example let's compare it with the show called ' Fumetsu no Anata ' , its more or less pretty much the same premise, the MC on the both show are attempting to ' Save ' people's life, in Boku Dake ga Inai Machi, the author/producer failed to make the viewer feels ATTACHED to the characters, while the authors of Fumetsu no Anata done it PERFECTLY, despite the lack of screentime you could feel a HUGE ATTACHMENTS towards those temporary characters that served as a ' plot objective ' and when those characters disappeared we were already really attached that it would make us cry, and when they found their happy end we would cry too out of happiness, that is just a GREAT storywriting, completely different compared to Boku Dake.
Because in Fumetsu no Anata they Focused on one 'Genre', they focused on that one specific Atmosphere to be used for throughout the show, just how Violet Evergarden / Ancient Magus Bride; use that one specific atmosphere on their show to make it feels magical. But in Boku dake ga Inai Machi they wanted to use multiple atmopshere at different specific time and there's no integrity to it
Memorable moments from Boku Dake ga:
1. Satoru mom death, well it just strike me cold
2. Kayo first Breakfast, it was an eye opening scene and its very beautiful
3. Kayo mom reunion with her mother, it was a very impactful and emotional scene, despite the bad things she's done to kayo.. no one is born evil, and seing her cry with her mother out of self-pity out of realization of what she had became, and what she had lost is really emotional. it's a shame that the author/producer completely forgot about Kayo mother after that arc, i believe the movie would leave a more impactful feelings towards the audience if Kayo mother shows up in the future again to see how she's doing now.
4. Showing the scene where Satoru mom live without her son, and do everything she can for the one day in the future her son would woke up. I cant help but to get emotional after that
5. And waking up from a long Coma and realize that you still have thiose ' Old Friends ' or you could say those second family with you, that is just very touching.
Well that's that, but i don't watch and judge anime scene by scene, and the ability to convey a synchronize story from top to bottom while leaving a great impression to the audience when the show ended was not exist on this show. Because this show from episode 1 to episode 12 are all interconnected by all means and yet the story development / character development / character reasoning; are very lacking. Compare it to Violet Evergarden, they have many ' plot objectives ' and despite their existence mostly only last for 1 episode, they could convey the feelings to the audience really well , they perfectly able to ' Isolate ' those plot objectives outside of the main story flow by all means.

This show really is a rollercoaster of emotions ,
The thing that make me stay into the show wasn't necessarily the premises of the Manga, but the 'preset scenarios' that are presented, maybe we could call it as a substory per say. Chapter 1-2 introduction of the main settings, Chapter 3 are the start of the 'first scenario' where the substory centered around the smart/nerd girl got herself into a chain of significant Unfortunate Events. I am very interested on her settings and wanted to see how her character would developed. The second substory that always be present was the good old classic childhood friend. ... Oct 7, 2022

At the earlier part of the manga i had a feeling that this show were more or less pure vanilla, exchanged at birth and engaged later on? cool, sachi moves in to the erika/nagi house? okay, so it was a fun read. But as the story moves forward the studio starting to raise the bar and more or less make the story more complicated (?) who is this erika older brother anyway? Erika parents were very welcoming to the prospect of their daughter and lost son to being engaged, but as the story goes further the manga gives the impression that Nagi and Erika parents

After chapter 300 when an actual Alien Mothership invaded Earth, then things started to get interesting. The whole time i'am reading this Manga, i don't quite feels the significant of the story/manga. What kept me staying here the whole time reading this show were because the story made me quite horny, no pun intended. the MC are suck and really uninteresting, the World Structure for the much of it are uninteresting. That's pretty much how i see it for the whole first 200 chapters.
The Author tried multiple times with different things such as by sending the MC back and resetting his Memory, it failed miserably ... May 11, 2022

GREAT ENDING. MAGNIFICENT ENDING. THIS MANGA STARTED AS A COMPLETE GARBAGE INTO A GOLDEN TREASURE.
I LOVE COMEBACK STORIES LIKE THIS. THE FEELING OF DESPERATION LEADING INTO DELUSSIONS, AND THAT DELUSSIONS FUELING HIMSELF TO LEAP FOR A BETTER FUTURE. BEAUTIFUL STORY. With the right mindset this manga are very enjoyable IF you read it untill the end straight up from the start to finish. The story of this manga are very well constructed and the ending are just GREAT. The story were not about the "CHARACTERS" so don't think too much about it into the characters in this show. This story is about the "STORY" on how people ... |
