Don't Cry Baby

The “I can’t leave you because you look vulnerable no matter how tough you act” concept is highlighted. Tsundere uke with a heartbreak-triggered habit of sleeping around with different men crosses paths with younger seme whose job is to put up with uke’s willfulness, convince uke to move on from a failed love, and of course, win uke’s heart.

Despite having different settings and plot events, both are heartbreaking masterpieces about short-lived happiness and a love that cannot be realized due to a harsh twist of fate. Be sure to prepare loads of tissues, buckets of tears are most likely to fall.

Ukes Reiichirou and Sumito share quite a number of traits: poker-faced, stoic, straightforward, naive, young master of a rich family. Both titles have very pretty art.

Shinryaku! Ika Musume
add

Curious cute little girl doing cute stuff in the strangest way possible is the premise of these comedy manga both catering to the male demographic (whether Yotsuba is seinen or shounen is still arguable so let's generalize that). Art in both are greatly similar to one another - simple yet appealing.

X: Kai

Stigma
add

Both are psychological manga employing morbid themes such as murder, corruption, and dark, traumatic pasts. The main character in each becomes the caretaker of a homeless kid whom he learns the significance of life from. While not really classified as BL, there are a few scenes that could come off as BL-ish but nothing too heavy and intolerable to the genre’s non-fans.

No Bra

Aoi Destruction!
add

Shounen series with a mix of ecchi and genderbending elements. Highschooler male lead somehow ends up living with a cross-dresser/feminine guy who, at several points in the manga, causes him sexual temptations (deliberately in No Bra, otherwise in Aoi Destruction!).

Junjou
add

Proper communication is lacking in the relationship. Uke harbors feelings for seme which he believes are only one-sided while seme secretly likes uke back but refuses to admit it as he is either unsure of his feelings or is wanting to make uke realize by himself that their feelings are mutual. Hence, they start off with a mere physical relationship. Large doses of angst present.

Vampire Knight

Hakuouki
add

Hakuouki is like an Edo era version of Vampire Knight. The Rasetsu, humans (originally) that turn into blood-crazed demons possessing extraordinary strength and are after the heroine's "special" kind of blood at several points in the show, strongly resemble the Level Es of VK. Both are reverse harem anime produced by Studio DEEN.

If you liked
Kimi wo Watareba

Akatsuki no Fumi
add

The concept of time travel is highlighted. Present day boy meets a person who gets time warped from past to present Japan and together they develop a close bond of friendship. Do note however that Kimi wo Watareba is yaoi so the relationship between the male leads predictably goes further beyond just innocent friendship unlike in Akatsuki no Fumi which is a josei, non-BL manga. Endings are very alike.

Hakushaku Cain Series

Kuroshitsuji

Victorian England setting, nobleman and butler / master and servant relationship between the main characters, mysterious crimes occurring in town, gothic atmosphere, fascinating plot twists - both share these elements although The Cain Saga retains a higher, much graphic degree of violence and grotesqueness.

Boku no Koi no Hanashi Himegoto

Since both are from opposing genres, this would most likely work for readers who are shoujo fans and at the same time, are into (or at least can tolerate) boys love and vice versa. Or those who simply like to see artistic characters in what they read regardless of genre for that matter. The similarity lies in both titles having protagonists with a passion for painting and that passion enables them to get closer to their respective love interests. Both are somewhat cliched albeit still charming school life romance manga with pretty and soothing art.
