Tegami Bachi world setting is definitely one of the most out-of-the-box I've seen. A Sunless world, where the Sun is a mere fairytale. A world of cat-eyed humans who seek to get closer to the artificial Sun. A world where memories and emotion matter the most. Also big insect monsters?! I'm sold.
The MC is a total crybaby, but I'm ok with that because of his true origin, and biologically he just entered the teen phase. Now that sounds a pretty childish world, but it doesn't! The truth between the artificial Sun, the Head Bee, and the capital of Amberground is definitely worth a read.

Definitely my go-to-list if anyone asked about the first anime to make me cry. While yes the MC is the most crybaby MC I have ever encountered, it's kinda justifiable if you read the manga. The OPs and EDs are definitely superb and compliment the story.

Kinda re-did it

Musashi as a character is hella annoying up until Awajima arc (which is super long), but recently he has gone calmer and how should I say, not brawn-over-brain like him in the earlier chapters? We got to see development from Kojiro's side too! I'm surprised that Musashi's past doesn't have as much impact to the plot as Kojiro's past. Y'all better catch up! Magi is more spread on this department as well, but that's okay, Orient still got a long journey. The thing that bother me the most is, the details keep getting less and ... Jan 19, 2022
I'll write anything that wouldn't cause a hard spoiler for non-manga readers.
Let's put aside all the shounenisque present here, the power system is interesting. Unlike Magi with their 72 djinns and their city-destroying power, you can count such characters in Orient with your own hands, which means very small in number. Orient strongly emphasizes in power chain/constellation as shown in eps 3 to beat the greater enemies, because individually most bushis aren't that strong. You all should also notice the different colours in the opening, ending, or poster. It's not just colour, it's part of the power system and how they would be placed effectively within ... |
