Despite their settings, both being comedies in which the forces of good and evil live side-by-side in an everyday setting, these shows could not be further from each other. Gabriel Dropout is a comedy specialized in mean-spirited humor, where we're supposed to laugh at the characters' misfortune; if this speficic type of humor misses you, you should avoid it (like me). On the other hand, Machikado Mazoku is, while comedic in nature, actually a heartwarming tale about human kindness. I personally would recommend checking out the latter.

Anima Yell!

Both are what I consider the better Manga Time Kirara adaptations handling their own subject matter - cheerleading/yosakoi - very similarly: main character is very passionate (which means obnoxious) about recruiting members to their yet-to-be-existent club, obviously with very little success, and there's a childhood friend acting as the wingman. At least that's how they start out. Both have catchy songs for their openings you'll have hard time to forget. The main difference between the two is while Hanayamata is more dramatic in tone, Anima Yell! is more of a comedy, but takes its subject matter seriously when it matters.

Both are extremely comfy shows with likeable characters, chill music, companionship, lots of scenery porn and facts about going outdoors. In addition, Yama no Susume is also about struggle and character growth, especially in the second season. And also encouraged me to take up hiking, even if it's just the nearest hill to me. In short: if Yuru Camp is going to be the anime that makes more people to watch the wonder that is Yama no Susume, that would be great :D
