We have a pretty basic premise but even if its sort of Romeo Juliet and opposite attract story, all the characters have developments and arcs that we want to see these struggling teens succeed from. Rintaro is a hyper-fictional guy for sure no one, unfortunately, is as good a guy as him but you can't not feel for him not being "normal". Kaoruko is labelled because she is a genius but she just works hard and comes from a poor struggling family. You genuinely feel parts of them are real and the art with character expressions really do give you a sense of comfort sadness ... or make you aww at the wholesomeness.

I gave it a 10 more out of respect and just being a different era compared to Z as its called in the anime and west as the manga is just Dragon Ball it still holds up in terms of the choreography of its fights and finding the dragon balls was so easy the first and even 4th or 5th times through King Piccolo and Piccolo were entertaining villains. It is still from the same franchise somethings that plague dragon ball z do plague dragon ball but not on the same scale in my opinion the biggest advantage ball has over z and other ... sequels is characters easily every character has a purpose or moments you will remember them for until that changes in Z.
