Well, I really dont understand why everyone is so positive about this anime, it is flawed on so many levels, I tried my best and decided against my own inclinations of dropping it to stick it out to the bitter end, and I wish I hadnt,

The problem is not that all of the characters are unlikeable, but they are all pretentious and sanctimonious, yet never live by or adhere to their own espoused values to any extent, leading to a show where after the first 6 episodes you could telegraph every line and story and character arch long before it got there. If your ... main character is supposedly a subversive loner who doesnt care for or want friendship, affection etc. then at least have him commit to it, but everytime he does or tries to, whenever he is put in the spotlight for saying or doing something out loud, he backs down. But If you say well all people are hypocrites and would do the same, he doesnt go far enough the other way, playing it too safe in either end and making for unrealistic characters, scenarios and resolutions that would never work in the framework established in the animes own parameters.

As the series wore on, I found myself more frustrated with the lazy tropes the show relies on more and more, as it lacks any message it was set out to say and plays for Anime rom com 101 instead.

Even the concept of his loner status due to starting school late after saving a puppy is ridiculous. How many girls would shun a boy who got into a car crash saving a PUPPY?! Sorry, but this is far too overrated for the quality it provides, and honestly, there are so many better shows out there that do this a LOT better. If you are a completionist, then by all means, but otherwise, avoid.

Oh Boy, another one of "these" shows.

Yes, you know by now every season, or at least every year will come the cheesy Harem, but who is really invested in such shows? Well, done right, a lot of people can get behind a good harem done right, with good or interesting characters, a novel hook that sets it apart, or a good sense of humour and some great comedy. Even just some cute characters can sway these things.

Sadly, the Quintessential Quintuplets have none of these qualities. I wanted to like this, and even put my misgivings aside to push through all episodes so far, ... but it wasn't worth it.

The animations look cheap and poorly drawn, its a similar style to Dagashi Kashi or recovery of an MMO Junkie, but lack the style or grace of either, looking like some basic mode of an editing suite instead. The premise could have been interesting, but the characters are too cookie-cutter, with no discernible traits or characters, just different hobbies that supposedly sets them apart.
The main protagonist is unlikable, bland, and too unsure of themselves and the problem is it has all been done before, and better. The story is a thinly veiled set up to move from set piece to set piece, but no substance in any. The humour is lacking, relying too heavily on "yandere face" for someone being mad and his hopelessness and immaturity around women. I just honestly don't see who this is for, apart from total hardcore completionists who refuse to go back and watch any of the countless better versions of this.
If that isn't you, I implore you, go watch Monster Musume instead, at least that has some humor in it. Or if you want a rom-com this season, Kaguya Sama is a much better bet.
