They're by the same author, but they approach the topic of farming from different perspectives that reinforce each other. Silver Spoon approaches it from the perspective of a newcomer to agriculture, and also throws in a good bit of human drama, while Noble Farmer is the author's personal recollections from her own life, seasoned with plenty of comedy. Together you get a fuller picture of what farming is like in Hokkaido.

Each anime is a romantic comedy dealing with a more committed relationship between adults. They've got a bit of supernatural spice, but the majority of the setting is realistic. If you love romance focused on the relationship itself instead of on the will they/won't they part of romance, these are for you! Be aware that Tonikaku is much more comedic, while Otonari focuses more on the romance.

These series both do a superb job of exploring feelings of separation and loneliness stemming from family issues and magic, while solace is found in the search for friends and found family. Further, the magic in each world is very organic and not solely confined to the realm of combat, which really helps these worlds feel well lived in.

Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara and Flying Witch both share deliciously soft magic. What do I mean by soft magic? Soft magic is the kind that heals you, helps you make friends, and increases your capacity for experiencing the beauty of this world; all the uses of soft magic are aligned with our deeper desires for happiness as human beings instead of being more practically useful. If you love magic that is truly and art and flavors the world instead of a science that bends the world, these shows are both for you.
