Hello,
I have just finish Gurren Lagann and i noticed you have given it a 1. I know it is been a while since you watched it but I am interested in hearing your thoughts as I was also disapointed with the series.

Were you even paying attention? Tsutsujidai is in the computer world, it wasn't a dream. Where do you think Gridman, Alexis, Anosillus 2 etc. all came from?
The villain's motivations are very much NOT what make the story, and even if they were, you should be looking at Akane (who is legitimately a well-written, nuanced character) and not Alexis. Alexis is the SSSS Gridman equivalent of Big Fire from Giant Robo, certainly a manipulating force and a meta-antagonist, but never truly the central focus.

You don't need to know a villain's motivations to appreciate the story they drive and the idea that understandable villains are necessarily better is quite an illogical one. In what way is a reasonable person doing completely unreasonable things better writing than someone whose motivations are unclear or who is just outright insane doing unreasonable things?
In the case you were talking to Jex about, Alexis Kerib is based on Kilokahn from the original Gridman, who happens to be a rogue AI, making motivation a questionable concept in the first place.

I'll rewatch because it's good
if you're complaining about plebs, I'm the wrong person to complain to
plebs don't have to balls to go against the grain when the grain is wrong

character development not necessary if there's enough characterisation
stop being a pseud and learn what makes things good
it wasn't a dream at all
It’s time to ditch the text file.
