The plot of the two anime deviate away from one another, but where they connect is in the partnership of two brothers who strive hard to overcome the obstacles that lie ahead of them. Elric is the older of the two much like Rin, and the two share a very low tolerance for patience. They get hot headed fairly quickly, while Yukio and Alphonse are more level headed and help guide their older siblings along the right path using their sound judgment. The pair fight for a greater goal which is to unify the world around them, while strengthening their bond as brothers.

You can easily trace the similarities between InuYasha and Saiyuki Reload Blast. The feel of both shows align; with a more ancient setting, a prolonged adventure, and plenty of battles with demonic forces. InuYasha even has that old-school art style that Saiyuki Reload Blast has continued to hold on to! Characters in both shows also share the demon-human hybrid complexity in a few of their party members. And if you loved Saiyuki Reload’s extended story, you’ll have plenty of episodes to enjoy with InuYasha!

Both of them have a main character who wants to become an explorer and can smile no matter what hardship they are faced with and can remain optimistic no matter what., and the place to be explored it's very dangerous and many explorers die on their journey. Both of them have complex themes and dark aspects to them. Both of them aren't afraid to show how cruel the world can be. Both of them can be very psychological at points.

Black Clover and Soul Eater envision a universe where normal everyday people are bestowed with magic, making the supernatural an almost mundane occurrence. The latter is considerably faster paced, but they share similar larger-than-life characters and a dedication to light-hearted comedy.

From the big three anime – One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto – the ninja series shares the most similarities with Black Clover. This should not really come as much of a surprise since Studio Pierrot handled Naruto and Naruto: Shippuuden. In most ways, Black Clover is the studio’s attempt to recreate the magic of their most popular series. This is particularly apparent in the story’s pacing, as both series allow ample time for the characters to goof off, with a heavy employment of flashbacks to develop their backstories. At this point, Naruto barely needs any introduction, but we might-as-well mention a thing or two about the anime. Naruto is a social outcast, who aspires to reach the status of Hokage in his village. This is similar to the Wizard King status in Black Clover, with Naruto and Asta originally ridiculed for their unwillingness to accept their own shortcomings. Both protagonists are hyperactive, kind of dumb, and never know when to give up. Sasuke Uchiha serves as Naruto’s Yuno -including their similar character designs-, who is a perfect shinobi and Naruto’s direct opposite. Both anime split their time between action and over-the-top comedy, although Naruto probably does a better job with the latter.

Ao No Exorcist shares many similarities with Black Clover, with Rin and Asta practically cut from the same cloth. Both protagonists are energetic, shunned by society, and possess hidden power that makes them dangerous to the established order in their respective universes. The action scenes are the primary focus of both anime, with the core relationship centering around two brothers.

Much like Inuyashiki, Tokyo Ghoul starts the series off with a normal human who goes through a drastic transformation. This transformation brings him a lot of power, but comes at a pretty big cost. It should be noted that it takes a long time for Kaneki to even accept the fact that he must eat human flesh (even if it’s from a cadaver). It takes essentially the whole first season before he comes to term with what he is and how he needs to live. Inuyashiki comes to terms pretty quickly and even gets powerful moments of happiness thanks to the change, at least in the beginning. Hiro seems to have always expected such an event and is more than happy to take advantage of his new power.

we have a guy who suddenly has a newfound perspective on life because he’s been granted a supernatural power. The main difference here is that Kei’s life immediately takes a downward turn because of his supernatural power, while Inuyashiki starts experiencing a more triumphant and glorious life. When one person is caught between a mysterious government agency and terrorists, it’s hard to expect any joy in life. The more subtle similarities deal with the action and the character relationships. In both, action scenes are characterized with brutal hits and pretty free-flowing CG. However, the intensity of bloodshed isn’t too high in either. There is a little more in Inuyashiki, but so far it is not gratuitous. Then there’s the way that Kei approaches Satou and tries to reign him in. This seems to be the route that Inuyashiki and Hiro are taking

The first similarity between the shows is pretty obvious. Two human main characters have been altered by alien involvement, which has completely changed their lives. Each now have a lot more power and a lot more responsibility to handle. Both anime are willing to show the grittier side of action. Admittedly, Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu has a lot more blood and definitely pushes forward a tenser environment. That’s to say you’ll probably get scared more often while watching it. Even the faint of heart could probably get through most of Inuyashiki, even though Hiro’s presence will always have you on edge.

Izumi and Kei are driven into a world of the unknown and must now come to learn of their dark future that lies ahead. They both were taken out of their comfort zone without permission, which led them into a chaotic and bloodthirsty atmosphere where they need to come up with the right solutions to survive. Every direction they head in is full of mystery, as the enemy is always tracking down their every move with the intent to erase them from existence. Strategy, planning, and outmaneuvering their opponents is how the two must survive, otherwise they run a huge risk of being outplayed by the opposition. Both shows are a game of chess, where each step you make can only lead you closer to the check mate so everything matters.

It’s no doubt that Naruto is one of the most successful anime franchise to come out of Japan. For many fans of the current generation, it is THE anime they grew up with. So when the creator, Masashi Kishimoto, compares a new anime to his extremely successful creation, you know that is high praise indeed. Which is what recently happened when the mangaka released a drawing he did showing his beloved Naruto cheering on Deku, the main protagonist of Boku No Hero Academia (My Hero Academia). It is known that Kishimoto is a big fan of the Boku No Hero Academia franchise and if you look closely at both Naruto and the former’s story, they do bear some resemblances. Both protagonists start off at the bottom of the rung, one born without powers and the other shunned. It’s through sheer hard work that both improves and grows to be the heroes they are. So it’s no surprise the Kishimoto would be a fan. Boku No Hero Academia, on the other hand, is by Kōhei Horikoshi, and was first released in 2015 as a manga but has grown to be one of the key mangas in Weekly Shounen Jump even to the point of being called Naruto’s successor. Its first anime was released last year (2016) with the second season just ending and a third season confirmed for 2018.

Ao no Exorcist

Now switching the ninja world to a world with two sides, Ao no Exorcist is another anime that will remind you of Naruto because the main characters are so much alike. Rin Okumura is the illegitimate son of Satan. He was created to be a suitable vessel for Satan, so he can travel and conquer the human world. Demons can only travel between the two worlds as long as they can possess anything that exists within it. Rin, on the other hand, does not want to be associated with the demon lord and decides to become an exorcist to fight and protect their own world. Naruto and Rin both share the quality of a helpful main character. They both feel like it is their obligation to save others away from harm, despite being born differently and being treated as trash by others. Also, they both have inner demons which they will try to learn to control over time. The concept of studying in a school and going on missions is also very familiar, just like with the Naruto series. If you are looking for a Naruto-ish character set on a much darker themed anime, you will surely enjoy Ao no Exorcist.

As well as Naruto, Black Clover is going to be the next big thing in anime. Somehow it gives me the same feeling as I'm watching Naruto. Studio Pierrot is famously known for their work with the Bleach, Naruto, Boruto and Twin Star Exorcist series’. However, they soon might be known for another new animated production called Black Clover. The series is already being compared to other Shonen franchises such as One Piece and Fairy Tail, despite the series yet to premiere. In addition, the studio has already said that they want and expect Black Clover to be the next Naruto, as the two anime have a similar fan base.

D.Gray Man focuses on the life of Allen Walker, who grew up with a deformed left arm, resulting in his family abandoning him claiming that he's not human. With his dark past behind him, a much darker future awaits him as the evil Millennium Earl plots to destroy the entire existence of humanity with his creation of Akuma. This weapon uses the souls of the dead which are then trapped within it until the use of Innocence, an Anti-Akuma weapon, breaks them free. After spending several years under the teachings of General Cross, Allen enlists in an organization called Black Order in hopes to prevent Earl's evil from spreading, while using his new weapons to bring peace back to the souls that have been tormented. What is strikingly similar is that the two were initially cursed because they tried to revive someone they loved, and had to come up with solutions on how to cope with their setback. Both Elric and Allen suffered at the cost of losing an arm, but then are blessed with a new one which gives them supreme power. Both must use their newly acquired abilities to put an end to an evil that threatens to inflict pain upon the world, while protecting the ones they care about most. The two enlist in an organization in order to find out more about the threat that draws near, while going through various experiences that help to shape their character along the way. The second season of D.Gray Man is now available to watch, so to know more about Allen and his mission to stop Earl, be sure to check it out.
