SAO was my first anime series that actually got me into anime. I was in a hotel with my brother and the rest of my family as he was looking at colleges, and I was scrolling through Netflix and decided I should try watching anime. I looked through the ones on Netflix and SAO stuck out to me. I decided to start watching, and that's when I got into the rabbit hole of anime. Ever since then, I found more anime that I liked to watch and j-pop music to listen to, all because of SAO. War of Underworld for me has been a step

up in all aspects compared to the previous seasons, with openings and endings, art, characters, and more.

Story: 7/10
For me, I think this is the weak point for War of Underworld. However it is pretty good, some aspects of the story come out to others as very confusing, and I can relate. For example, when the goblins were able to get into Centauria (sorry if I butchered the spelling) before the war began in episode 2, it seemed confusing on how they were able to get in. Additionally, when all of the Integrity Knights including Alice moved to those tents in episode 5, what happened to the house that Alice was living at? Did she just completely abandon it? Furthermore, the backstory portrayed in the anime for Emperor Vecta and in general was slightly confusing. Like why would he just want to kill his friend for no reason, and why would she agree to be killed? Just doesn't make sense to me. One more thing, how was Vixur Ul Shasta able to have common sense to not fight the Human Empire but instead to talk to them unlike everybody else? This is also confusing. Talking more positively, the motives for Alice to keep fighting on for Kirito and for the Integrity Knights to protect the Human Empire are all pretty good. But overall, I hope the story will improve as time goes on.
Art: 10/10
Where can I begin. Every single second of animation was perfectly done. For example, the opening was beautifully animating, having the perfect intro to the series. All the little easter eggs such as seeing Shaysta in the background of the opening as a tiny intro to her was perfect. Additionally, during the scene of Fanatio in bed, you can see Bercouli's sword above it showing that they most likely slept together 0.0 and that Fanatio is looking for Bercouli. If you pause at pretty much any frame in the show, you could use it as a background image for your computer. All the special effects used really draws you in to the series and is overall perfect.
Sound: 10/10
Oh. My. God. Easily my favorite opening for Sword Art Online as a whole, beautifully sung by Asuna, aka best girl. As for the ending, the first time I heard it I started crying. It was so beautiful, as well as being sung by the one and only LiSA. The ending just touches your soul, and couldn't have been better. The voice acting had the perfect amount of emotion, as if you could really feel how the character was feeling. The sound effects for all the actions happening also really captured the emotion of what was happening and helped get your heart racing at the most exciting parts. Overall, amazing job on sound.
Character: 9/10
Overall, the characters in World of Underworld were great. They all have their own unique traits to them, such as Sir Reyna or something like that being terrified of the war and the fact that he could die, while someone like Alice who is very generous for using her time to protect Kirito, as well as Fanatio and the majority of the Integrity Knights being confident that they will somehow be able to stop the Dark Territory from invading and destroying the Human Empire. And finally, Kirito isn't in the spotlight. We get to focus and learn more about other characters that we don't know so well, compared to Kirito who we have learned about for 3 seasons now. Despite a few weak spots in the characters, they are truly well done.
Enjoyment: 10/10
This series has brought in some heartfelt moments as well as action-packed scenes. This arc of SAO has a beautiful blend of fighting and action, as well as relationships being built and strengthened while we learn more about the character's motives. All of this is what got me hooked on War of Underworld, and I am always waiting every Saturday for the new episode to come out. While watching, I have never been bored once unlike some other shows and I have found to be feeling emotionally attached to the characters and I feel upset when something happens to one of the characters. I'm going to keep watching War of Underworld, hoping that the enjoyment factor keeps getting better and better.
Overall: 9.2
To close off this review, (sorry it was a long one) I would like to say that if you had doubts on the new season of SAO because you hated the previous seasons, you would be pleasantly surprised how much of an improvement it is compared to the other seasons. I hope you do decide to watch this season of SAO, and thank you for reading all the way through this review! Have a great day or night!
