Story(7/10): Seirei no Moribito's story at first glance is not so original, nevertheless, as the time goes on, it shows that it's actually more interesting than the spectator imaginated and the development of the plot makes up for the not-so-original premise. Albeit the beggining and the second half of the show are very well done and the pacing is good, the pacing throughout the middle is somewhat slow and the story seems more like an slice-of-life than an action show.
Art (8/10): Overall the art was pretty good, specially the backgrounds and the fight scenes.
Sound (8/10): The OP and ED songs are very good,
...
and most of the soundtracks used during the episodes were also satisfying and matched with the scenes, but sometimes some of them felt misused or were not very pleasant to hear.
Character (8/10): Most of the cast was charismatic and had a really good development.
Balsa was a nice character, she's very well constructed and she is algo pretty strong and independent. It's also very nice how her relationship with Chagum is portrayed and the flashbacks about her childhood and adolescence (2 or 3 episodes) were not only important to show more about her past and to construct her character, but they also were very enjoyable.
Chagum, otherwise you may think at first, is not an arrogant and weak prince that we usually see on feudal stories, actually he's pretty strong and considerate to the others, and his character probably is the most developed of the cast. I find that it's very interesting how he learns to deal with the egg and the burden that he must carry.
Tanda, is a nice character and he was pretty useful to the story, specially towards the end. The romance between he and Balsa is nice and does not seems forced, but it is neither too developed nor constant during the show, so it may please those who do not seek romance and just want to watch an action show.
Torogai was as interesting as Tanda and sometime delivered some kind of comic relief to the series.
Enjoyment(8/10): The more episodes I watched the more anxious I got to watch the next ones. Most of the episodes were pretty good, the action sequences were very nice, however they were rare.
Overall (8/10): I give this show a solid 8/10. Despite some flaws it had, it's very well done and may appeal to all kind of publics. If you are looking for an action show, go for it! And, if not, give it a chance!
