This anime was both good and bad at the same time. It pulled me in emotionally and then threw all my emotions out the window leaving me with a twisted feeling in my stomach.
The primary premise of the show is extremely good. Having a new race of people that are born killing machines is a great concept that allows for a lot of cool scenes and intriguing story. And the story was very intriguing at that. The issue is, it is all build up and no finale.
So many amazing characters are introduced and you want to know everything about them, but you never really
...
get to. Either they just die or for some reason they just stop caring about whatever they were caring about. Then there is the incest sub-plot which everyone can agree is awful.
The only reason I still give it a 6 is because despite everything I disliked, I still loved Lucy, her backstory with Kouta, and all their interactions. I also liked all the other orphans. Get rid of his cousin, and I would have probably even raised my score to a 7. Hell, if they got rid of the open ending, I might have even still given an 8.
It still stands; they didn't fully flesh out the characters and created an unnecessary subplot. I really wish they did because there was just so much potential with this anime. Despite everything, I would still enjoy a good sequel/remake of murder orphan collecting simulator. With a second attempt, I'm sure they could give it the polish it deserved.
