TL;DR: "The creators are obsessed with making mysteries and building suspense with absolutely no direction or end goal". "The "LOST" of anime". Watch it only for the cute moments. If you're a strong fan of the character relationship between the main characters of season 1, be prepared for extreme and consistent disappointment.

This anime is the reason i need to stop judging anime's by their covers. "Oh jeez, japan. This time, high school girls are going to ANTARCTICA?! Hard pass"

But someone convinced me. While it does have a few "Convenient" incidents and aligning of goals, it manages to make things believable throughout. Fair warning though: A piece of media has never made me sob so much before. The pain is so realistic because of how masterfully crafted the narrative is when it finally hits. Ouch, my feels.

Mixed Feelings
Boku no Hero Academia: Season 1 started off with a bang and ultimately, my own expectations of what the story had to offer in the following seasons were far more grand than the reality of what is actually written.

The reality in which this is your standard Japanese anime action melodrama meant to evoke strong emotional responses, full of internal dialog, 3 minute long conversations mid-battle for 10 seconds of action, all conveniently located in a children's schooling environment
