What kind of audience does Blue Period appeal to :
I am not an art person. I couldn't understand art thus people's love for it. Yet after watching Blue Period, although it may be seemed delusional to say the least, I finally am able to at least apprecaite art. This is what Blue Period is about, a teenager discovering himself and hoping there're others who'd truely understand his burning passion for art. Therefore, Blue Period is a "deep" anime suitable for people who'd gain enjoyment from contemplating what the story is trying to deliver. Even if you're not an art person like me, perhaps after watching
...
this anime, you'd also get a new understanding about "art".
Why I give the score 9/10 :
· Story Telling
Not to be confused with "story", the story "telling" is what I find impressive about Blue Period. Art is abstract. Even so for an anime that deeply discusses this topic. To make one understand art, is no harder than trying to make one understand math. A well thought-out and sophisticatedly crafted object that is meant to express something specific ; A delicately interrelated logic combinations that produces a result only meaningful to the logic itself . All Im trying to say is --- it is even more inconceivably hard to "tell a good" story about art. I went into the anime expecting the worse to only prove myself wrong. Blue Period is not interesting because it is an anime about art, it is interesting because it is an anime about "someone that loves art". Instead of directly make the characters talk about art, the anime takes you through the process and mindset of creating art itself with the protagonist. Just like how you would teach someone to understand math. Hence you can truely see how art is amazing, not through itself, but the how the people feel when they devote themselve to it.
It's nothing but blatant and obvious that anime is a form of art, but Blue Period is an anime that has truely made me have a deep understanding of what that means. Immature, but genuine. So although there are places where it's rough around the edges, such as the animation quality etc. , solely from the fact that it was a very meaningful and enjoyable watching experience (some may think it's too high, but how many anime can truely make you feel this way let's be honest), it gets a 9/10.

What kind of audience does Violet Evergarden appeal to :
"Would you cry watching Violet Evergarden?"
"Nah, I'd smile. There's no way I'd ever cry to an anime~"
And this became the first anime to make me cry. The point being, regardless of your preference in anime, Violet Evergarden is one that will leave you with an unforgetable experience. It is an anime suitable for anyone who's looking for an amazing story.
Why I give the score 10/10 :
· Story
To realise the sophisticated emotion one experiences while watching this anime, is to realise just how compelling the story truely is. The story unfolds through one of if not the
...
most ordinary materials possible --- wriiting a letter, yet it conveyed everything. Ordinary hence relatable. There's no point in talking about how good the story is unless one experiences it for themselves. And the fact that I have never forgotten about Violet Evergarden after all these years serves to be a testimony for its place of being a masterpiece.
· Voice Acting
An anime without voice acting is just "moving pictures" and good voice acting is what brings an anime alive. Had Ishikawa Yui, the voice actress of Violet Evergarden, not put her heart and soul into this character, the story telling would definitely have not been as great as it is. All the hardwork of the voice actors and actresses put into voice acting is a key of what made this anime a masterpiece. I couldn't even imagine someone else taking the role of Violet Evergarden because Ishikawa Yui's voice is ingrained into my impression of the character Violet Evergarden for just how amazing of a job she did.
· Music
The bgm produced by Evan Call is nothing short of a masterpiece (I know at this point Im abusing this word but I mean it is). The music encapsulates what the anime wants to deliver and accentuates it. It really pulls at my heartstrings listening to the melody. It is as if the bgm is part of the events happening instead of simply just something used to set the mood.
The above three qualities are like the fire triangle, it wouldn't be a masterpiece if any of them has not been as good as it is. And a mesmerizing piece of art when put together as a perfect harmony.

What kind of audience does Girls Band Cry appeal to :
(No spoiler)
If you're a fan of the Love Live series, K-on! or more recently Bocchi the Rock! , you are in for a treat. Even if you have never watched any anime of the idol or music genre, Girls Band Cry is a good entry anime to these types of genres for its compelling story telling, unique music, and amazing animation.
Although people who has a distaste for 3D or CGI in anime may feel discouraged to give this anime a try, just for the well written plot alone is imo definitely worth a try.
Why I
...
give the score 10/10 :
· Animation
I once disliked anime that used 3D/CGI, but after watching Sidonia no Kishi, an mecha anime that mainly used 3D/CGI, I came to a realization that animation is but a mean to tell a story, and Girls Band Cry excelled their story telling with it. Through the use of 3D/CGI, the characters aren't just "animated manga frames", but alive. Their facial expressions and natural body movements create realism that made vivid characters and unique personalties. Hence it feels more than just watching an anime, but an actual real life story of a struggle teenage girl facing the cruel reality head on. Girls Band Cry would not be as good imo if it didn't have such expressive animation.
· Story (Small spoiler of GBC & Blue Period)
Some people would call it cliché, but even with the best plot, a bad execution could still end in a bad anime. Even though Spy x Family is an entire anime about family, but the fact that a scene in Blue Period, where Yaguchi showed a sketch he drew of his mom to her, has left a deeper impression than any scene in Spy x Family, is the same reason why Girls Band Cry stand out against others despite the similar materials. It is the way they told a story not just by telling, but by the characters themselves --- how their personalties clash with the circumstances, that made it more than just any other story about overcoming past trauma, but a story with its own special chapters waiting to be unfold. Girls Band Cry may follow a classic plot, but the story is well written and executed nicely. (Updates) : Originally I had only given this anime a 9/10, however, since this anime keeps coming back to my mind, which only a masterpiece would make me feel this way. Hence I decide to update it to 10/10.
· Music & Voice acting
What else do you need to say except it is absolutely fantastic.
