When I first watched the first episode of "Puellae Magi Madoka Magica" two years ago, I was like "meh". However, when I recently decided to watch the show on Netflix, I totally changed my opinions about this anime. I got so hooked on it that I finished the show on THREE days. Here, you'll understand why I liked it so much:
Story-8
It's difficult resume Madoka's plot, especially without spoiling it. What I can say is that the story was very well-told in only 12 episodes and is full of interesting concepts. When you finish an episode, you'll certainly want to watch the next one.
Art-8
The art
...
of Madoka is one of the main qualities of the show. The animation was fluid and I loved the psychodelic and purposely grotesque witches. The character designs, on the other hand, are somewhat unatractive, but you soon get used to them.
Sound-9
The sound of the anime was totally awesome! The voice acting really fitted the characters and the songs are catchy and memorable.
Character-8
Madoka is definitely a plot-driven show, but that doesn't mean that the characters can't be good, because they are! Despite being somewhat clichéd and stereotypical, each of the characters have their own flaws, insecurities and motivations for their actions(even Kyuubei!)
Enjoyment-8
While the show is generally overrated (no, I don't think it's the best anime of the 21st Century) and VERY angsty, it's worth watching for all the reasons I've already cited.

Pay attention on what I'm saying: "Vitamin" is an extremely good manga. Yes, it's definetively a story about bullying, but it touches many other significative issues to the youth.
Which makes the manga so outstanding, despite it's good portion of melodrama, is the realism of the situations. In many other shoujo series Kouta's abusive attitude towards his girlfriend Sawako would be fetichized, but what the author shows us is what the character actually is: an unrespectful jerk. And "thanks" his reckless behavior Sawako becomes a bullying victim and slut-shamed as hell( and slut-shaming is a problem in Japan, just see what happened to the AKB0048
...
member who admitted to have had encounters with a man). It's also worth noting the bold criticism the author makes to the Japanese school system. Sawako's teachers and principals are clearly only worried about how well the students will perform on tests and don't seem to realise(or simply ignore) the pain the girl is going through. Her salvation will be reconnecting with her childhood dreams that all the pressure and padronization of school killed.
The story may be heavy and feature some sexual and violent scenes, but I think teenagers really should read this manga. It's not an easy reading, but is relatable to young people and it's going to make you think after finishing it.

Being a huge Sekai ichi Hatsukoi fan (it's kind of my guilty pleasure), I was very excited when a movie was announced. I remember visiting online anime websites every week just to see if the movie had came out. I finally watched the feature film in December and, well, it wasn't disapointing, but I expected much more.
The story itself is VERY previsible. You don't even have to watch the trailer of the anime to know the ending. Also, I felt the plot lacked enough conflict to actually be called a movie. It was like watching a longer episode of a slice of life
...
anime at times because of that.
So, does that mean that "Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai" is bad? The answer is no, because despite of it's flaws there's a lot to love in this movie: first, despite my initial fear of making a villain-like character the MC of a romcom, Yokozawa suceeds on having a story centered around him, showing a sweeter side without having his personality changed. Second, I think that even people who hate yaoi will be able to watch this movie, because it doesn't have many "innapropriated" scenes and shows a healthy homoparental household with the main couple adorably taking care of Zen's daughter, Hiyroi. This is important considering how many people still oppose the idea of same-sex couples raising children. And don't forget that Yokozawa, despite officially being an uke, doesn't look like one, which is refreshing to see.
I recommend it for everyone who wants a light and cute movie to spend a Sunday evening. "Sekai ichi Hatsukoi: Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai" might be a pretty forgettable romance, but is above average to the regular yaoi genre.

When I decided to watch the infamous "Boku no Pico", I already knew that it was horrible. I wanted to see how bad the anime could got because I like the trash genre. I should have heard the advice to not watch this anime.
You can see what is coming if you just watch the opening: There's a cute and romantic song put just to troll the viewer and an oversexualized underaged girl, I mean, boy, our eponymous protagonist Pico. What comes after is a bunch of sex scenes between a kid and his adult lover, Mokkun The Pedophile. Seriously, someone should
...
call the social service to visit Pico's grandad, since he doesn't give a damn to his grandson and is not worried with the fact that Pico goes to the house of a strange adult.
Boku no Pico is a disgusting and WTF anime. If you are interest in more series like this one, I would recommend you the equally disturbing Eiken and Gakuen Heaven ( the H manga, not the shonen-ai anime).

I've never watched the popular "Sword Art Online" anime, but I know that while some people consider it a masterpiece other say it's overrated. Without having an opinion about the show, I decided to read the manga. Boy, I want my money back.
First, the art is bad to the point of being ugly. It looked like a storyboard, with the difference that storyboards are generally more well-drawn. Second, the story wasn't entertaining: boy goes to a MMORPG setting, fight monsters and meets the best ( and supposely most beautiful) female player. There wasn't anything original in the plot, nor there was something
...
interesting about the characters.
I would not recommend this manga. The LN and the anime are probably better.

I have friends that really like Hetalia, so I honestly though that I would like it too. However, after watching some episodes, it seems that I and my friends have watched completely different shows.
Contrary to my beliefs, "Hetalia: Axis Powers" is not a satyrical and intelligent comedy about geopolitics,. it's more of a random series of gags with lots of fanservice to please fujoshis. Some gags were funny, but others were excessively nonsensical. And I also didn't understand all those "Chibitalia" segments: I'm sorry if you think they are cute, but for me they were just boring and useless to the
...
( nonexistent) plot.
Unfortunely, I can't say something positive about the art: it seems that Italy has his eyes shut all the time because it would be too difficult for Studio DEEN to animate them. The only interesting concept of the anime is the personification of the countries, but even this concept ended up executed poorly, mostly because of the short duration of the episodes ( 5 minutes).
In general, I think Hetalia had a great premise but wasted it's potential. This show could've been much better if the writers worried more with the plot and less with fanservice.

When you ask someone "What is the anime that has made you like anime?", many will answer "Naruto" or "Bleach", but I would answer "Toradora".
Why? It's simple: before "Toradora" I used to think that all anime were battle shonens with big-breasted girls, however, "Toradora", with it's down-to-earth and beautiful story showed me that the anime industry has much more to offer.
The animation , even though everybbody criticizes J.C. Staff, was amazing, the songs fitted the show perfectly ( even if I have found " My Silky Love" a bit annoying) and the story, despite being
...
previsible and somewhat cliché, is well executed and has genuinelly funny and touching moments. However, what truly excels in the series are it's characters.
"Toradora" charaters, unlike in many other shows, are multi-dimensioned and complex. Ami and Minorin start off as " the alpha bitch" and "the comic relief" respectively, but later show much more personality than that. Ryuji and Taiga's relationship is developed slowly and realistically, but their individual character development isn't only associated with romance. We see both grow as people.
Overall, I highly recommend "Toradora": it's an enjoyable romantic comedy that also provides serious moments and likeable characters. And it's hard to not cry in the final episode.
P.S: Sorry for my grammar mistakes., I'm not a native speaker.
