This series is a gem, and I hope it sees the success Tower of God did. I am writing this revie was someone who reas the comic first and is only now reading the book (chapter 11)
Story: 10. I hate isekai. Especially modern isekai. It’s always some power trip self insert with barley any actual thought going into the characters, especially the main characters, or a good plot in general. ORV has surprised me with how well thought out and planned it is. First, it‘s a trope in Isekai that the MC will know everything about the world as they are a huge nerd.
...
Dokja is no exception, the difference here is as he’s been reading the novel he transported into for 10 years, things are hazy, and he will forget things. This is already a nice touch. The story is incredibly engaging and intriguing. Character interactions are fun, exciting and you look forward to them. The characters do not always end up on top, and they are not invincible. In fact, most of the time, Dokja barley gets out by the hair of his neck after saving his team. I have no complaints as of now. This might change.
Art: 8/10. The art is simple, but very good. The artist makes a fantastic use of angles and dynamic posing I would just stare at my screen in admiration for a good five minutes at times. As a majority of the characters have the same hair and eye color, unique character designs are extremely important. I think the artist did good with this. There’s no same faces, you could tell who’s who if you switched out the hair and eye colors. The expressions are also amazing. Especially Dokja’s when he’s about to do something crazy.
Character: 9/10. Where do I start here. Dokja is just incredible. He is such a morally grey character that the word grey doesn’t even suit it. One of the first things that stood out to me was when he realized he could have saved people, and then goes “yeah, I could have, I don’t feel bad about not though”. Wow. He’s a truly engaging protagonist. He’s not just the typical edgy bad boy though, as he cares deeply for the people around him (he won’t admit it, not even to himself, but the way he takes care of Lee makes it obvious) and won’t hesitate to take on a heavy burden in their place. I’ve been told by my friends that this self sacrificial trait gets worse the story goes on, and is treated extremely seriously and not like it’s a good thing- which I cannot even describe how excited I am for. Dokja is smart. Very, very smart. I’m wary of smart characters in media usually, because it takes a clever author to write a clever character without it seeming like an asspull, but the authors of ORV clearly thought out what they are doing. Dokja’s reasonings make sense and you can totally believe this is just a very intelligent man.
Another thing I really enjoy is how even if Dokja himself has issues seeing others as real humans due to the nature of the comic and probably some physiological issue (lol), the characters around him still feel like real people. The other main character- Joonghyuk is a great example of this. He doesn’t trust Dokja as far as he can throw him and activity tries to kill him at some point. Yeah, logical reasoning. If I had to live in apocalypse on a loop and some guy that can bypass my powers came waltzing in I’d be wary too. A trope in isekai is how everything revolves around the main character- including other characters. This doesn’t happen here. There’s plenty of people who consider Dokja a mild annoyance in their own plans. When characters are off screen you can imagine they are doing things that we the reader have no clue about, and are not just staring into a wall waiting for Dokja to make an appearance so they can be characters again.
Enjoyment: 10/10. All in all, ORV is just fun to read. It’s an enjoyable comic. You never feel truly bored because even if a big fight isn’t happening, the characters themselves are so intriguing that the time spent with them is just as engaging. I recommend this fully, and I imagine in a year or twos time the recommendations will just keep on rolling in.

This anime is very old so my review probably won’t matter. If anyone is very tired and looking through them though, hopefully mine helps
Story: 4/10. Now this is a bit complicated. The story is just so incredibly cliche. The fact that every single character acts like red hair is some sort of magical super power from a different planet is so redundant and annoying, its ridiculous how much moves the plot from this. If red hair is rare it should have been addressed more. What’s the history of people with red hair? Are they oppressed or worshipped? Just WHY are people so insanely obsessed with
...
the MC just cause of her hair color, which is simply red, when many characters have WHITE hair???? The author fails to explain this and it started to take me out of it.
Art: 9/10, it’s studio bones so nothing was bad, but it can be a little bland with shot composition and how the camera is framed.
Characters: 5/10. I’ve never seen morals so uncomfortably forced into characters like this show. The best written character was Ryuu and he was barley on it. Every villain on this show has been a mustache twirling evil doer whos evil for the sake of being evil, the most basic evil reasons too: always involved with pride and power. There’s this plot point (spoilers) where we learn Zen had a friend who was really a spy sent to betray him (back to how this series is a giant cliche lolll), and the spy is like “you’ve never had to work for what you have, and no matter how hard I’ll try I’ll never be as rich as you” I was like wow, that’s actually a surprisingly nuanced message. I didn’t expect them to portray classism in a way bigger then “MC is poor so she’s bad and can’t be with the prince“. What comes immediately after? Zen says some shouen hero thing about remembering the spy as a friend which would be great if he was actually Zen’s friend and not a spy sent to kill him who represented the working class. Then the spy is murdered immediately. Do they bring up what he said about how corrupt it is that Zen was born into power and wealth and the spy could barley scrap by? Noooo, of course not. They act as if The spy really was Zen’s friend and it’s treated as some tragic backstory thing about how hard this pressure on Zen is. Every character has hamfisted attempts at being deep like this. Characters will be brought up and never talked about again for the sake of another’s development. Now for the biggest issue.
The Mc.. is a total Mary Sue. She is kind, she is hard working, she is beautiful, she is smart, she is self confident. She has literally no flaws to speak of. While Zen is untrustworthy of others and Ryuu is socially awkward, what is Mc if not the perfect princess who graces everyone by being perfect? The only times she struggles is when people try to capture her because she’s so beautiful or she has to take a nap cause she’s so hard working which isn’t treated like an actual flaw or something she’s in danger of, BTW. She just needs 10 second still frames of her closing her eyes and she’s back in business. She will stand up to corrupt people with a confidence that was cool at first, I love strong female characters, but then it got absolutely ridiculous. It feels like she is not a character at all but a.. being.. that always stops stereotypical evil people to the point it got very cringey. It feels like every time she stands up to someone you are supposed to applaud how cool she is, every other character certainly does, and I got tired of it. She is Mary Sue wish fulfillment at its peak.
Enjoyment: 7/10. now you’re going to be absolutely surprised. But I liked this show. It’s definitely not something to write home about. But it’s fun to watch if you turn your brain off. The issue is I can tell the author is good at writing cute characters doing cute things, but they are not good at writing deep character motivations or plot, so when they do it stands out.., a lot. I enjoyed the slice of life fluffy romance stuff, as a fan of both SOL and deep shows, it’s sorely lacking in the former and I hope in the second season the author has gotten better at writing these things cause theres actually a lot of potential.
Overall: 6/10. When it fumbles it fumbles hard. the voice acting and animation absolutely carried this.
If you want to watch this show handled better watch Yona of the Dawn.

Story: 6/10. There really is no story. This is slice of life in its purest form. If you are looking for an engaging and plot driven manga, you should drop this right now because it is not what you’re looking for. I don’t think this lack of story is bad. In fact I really enjoy the looseness of the manga and how sweet it is without the restraint of a bigger meaning looming over it. It’s just girls having fun. Nice to read and fits the relaxing feeling of the manga.
Art: 10/10. Where do I even begin? I’ve read many manga with amazing art
...
and this one just blows me away. I was sure Toilet Bound Hanako Kun was the most detailed and gorgeous art I’ve ever seen. I was so wrong. There are many dynamic poses in this manga. This worried me at first because of how doll-like the characters looked, I was sure it would be awkward. Once again, I was so wrong. This author is a master at art. Every pose is fluid and dynamic. You can count the strands of hair on the girls head and yet this doesn’t make them look uncanny valley. You can truly see these as people. Amazing. Honestly, if you just want to look at phenomenal art I recommend this. It’s so good you don’t have to even pay attention to the plot or characters to enjoy yourself. There’s many, many pages where the main character is just making poses of what she’s doing, like a stop motion. For other artists, I would have seen this as Boeing and “get it over with!” but not this one. Sometimes I will spend minutes just staring at these pages in awe! The author can flex their drawing skills all they want and it will never be annoying to me because they truly are unbelievably talented. Now, there’s also lots of fan service. I, personally, am not a fan of this especially considering these are supposed to be seventh graders. It’s the biggest turn off of the manga in my opinion and I almost dropped it cause of this. While reading, I look at it towards the eye of “girls looking at other girls beauty” since it seems some of the girls have crushes on each other (and also for my sanity). But still, if fan service is something you absolutely despise, I wouldn’t recommend this as lots of panels are just that.
Characters: 7/10. The characters are very cute. They all have little quirks that make them enjoyable to read about. You can believe these are real girls. Something noticeable is they do lack flaws. But this is slice of life that’s not really focused on characters but in the fun these characters have, so ill excuse it. They’re fun to read about and that’s enough. You could definitely pick out one character and have her be your favorite!
Enjoyment: 8/10. This is just so fun to read. Wether it be because of the award winning-looking art, the feeling of childhood nostalgia, the overwhelming amount of love and friendship or just watching cute girls do cute things. I really love it. It reminds me so much of my early childhood. However, It’s absolutely not for everyone. I can already see the “this is boring and a waste of time” comments coming when this series gets more popular, wether it be on this profile or the profile of the upcoming anime. Which, yeah. It has no deeper meaning and sometimes there’s 4 pages of a girl jumping. But if that’s fun for you then I recommend this! It certainly was for me.
Overall: 7/10. It’s in its purest form: good. It’s not ground breaking, but it’s fun. If you enjoy slice of life this is a must read. If you’re a fan of art this is MORE then a must read. If you get bored easily when there is no plot I advise you step very far away, you’re probably just gonna leave feeling empty and disappointed. Anyways that’s my review! Hope it’s helpful.

Story: nothing remarkable. It’s just short stories about various couples. Very cute though. Each couple had their own dynamic and weren’t necessarily in love which is an interesting reversal on how these short story romances usually tend to to. They weren’t all sappy and head over heels, they had genuine struggles! 7/10
Art: nothing amazing or incredibly detailed. I found it quite charming though. 5/10
Character: the characters are barley developed as they get little screen time, but what we do see was very nice! They’re realistic and I believe these could be real people. 6/10
Enjoyment: fun to read! Something to relax to. If you’re a fan
...
of cute romance and angst (In small dosages) I recommend this. 8/10
