Darling In the Franxx, while it wasn't the best anime it was still pretty entertaining to watch. But yeah, wasn't the best anime.
Story (5/10)
So the story occurs in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic setting where humans try to survive against giant aliens called Klaxosaurs. They fight them using giant mechas called the Franxx. Those who pilot the Franxx are teenagers, who are called Parasites.
So what's special about this anime? Basically they fly mechas in boy-girl couples in a form that resembles sex (some fan-service during the show, but it's part of the show's premise). But these teens aren't taught at all about that, and are hidden from
...
the outside world.
We focus on a group of Parasites who are given a little more freedom than the others so there's a lot of relationship stuff, romantic stuff going on between them.
The main focus is the two main characters, Hiro, a pilot who lost his partner, and Zero Two, a mysterious pink haired horned girl who takes interest in him and wants to pilot with him.
When the anime is about the Parasites it's actually interesting, every week I got invested in their dramas and character development, even the less interesting characters in the squad. True it all has a fan-service-y tone at first, but imo it's essential because the story has a sexual nature which is ok.
But somewhere near the last third of the show it all falls flat. When does it fall flat? When it starts being about the actual plot. You know, the robots and aliens and shit?
The pacing changed a bit during the show, but near the ending it becomes rushed, they over-complicate everything, make semi-intelligent explanations for everything, and honestly they kinda ruined it for me. I'd truthfully respect the show more if they didn't explain all these things, because they didn't present the plot well.
In the end of the day I didn't care about the battle between humans and Klaxosaurs at all, only about the characters. It's an integral part of the show and it tells me that the plot tried to be mind blowing but ended up falling flat on its face. So it's an average story for me.
Art (8/10)
Art was pretty good. The character design was nice, the battles were pretty and all over the place, you can tell Trigger took part in this.
Sound (6/10)
I guess voice actors were okay, but I'm not the biggest fan of the opening song (it wasn't that good at all) or any part of the OST.
Character (8/10)
Characters are the strong part of the story. I liked most of them with Zero Two being the obvious stand out, colorful, passionate, seemingly confident but has some depth and pain behind her appearance.
Ichigo was also a cute "childhood friend" for most of the show (take away a few episodes when she acted a little out of characters and pretty bitchy).
Hiro surprised me, I thought he was going to be a Kirito esque generic main character but he ended up being a pretty interesting characters.
And the rest of the Parasites, all had some character development and mini arcs and weren't pushed to the sidelines.
Eventually the most interesting parts of the anime were character-focused so this is the anime's best quality for me.
Enjoyment (8/10)
It depends. I enjoyed the rave discussions about who's best girl and about every episode (too bad MAL was down during that time!), and at some point I did end up waiting all week for a new episode, and being hyped for the new episode, etc.
At some point when it became more plot focused it all got a little stale for me. I really think they changed writers or something because the writing quality dropped.
Overall (6/10)
So it's a mecha show that started off well then ended not that well when it was actually supposed to deliver. I was actually waiting for the story to kick off, and when it finally did, I wish it didn't.
Still, all things considered it was a fun show to watch, and I recommend it to mecha fans or even anime fans that want an exciting anime with drama and a lot going on. Just lower your expectations a little.

A beautiful movie about a boy who used to bully a deaf girl in elementary school, growing up and trying to make amends for it.
The animation is clean and looks incredible, and the music was sad and powerful and hit the right spots.
The best aspect of the movie is the story which was emotional and captivating, I even shed a tear in a few of these scenes because they just felt so sad.
I connected with the two main characters. I can understand Ishida's lack of confidence, I often feel like he does, alone, like he can't look people in the face, it felt real to
...
see that. Nishimiya is beautiful in so many ways, she has so much heart and she's so humble, and yet she's not a "perfect" character. She's deep and well written, she has depression too and she underestimates herself which is also something I can relate to.
I also think bullying, depression and awareness for disabilities, are very important topics that were presented respectfully in this movie.
The one thing I didn't like in this movie was some of the other characters and how they acted. A lot of people were so mean and acted so wrong, I was frustrated. I didn't connect to the supporting characters the way I thought I would. Except Yuzuru who is a great girl.
I rate anime from the heart, so I think it's a great movie, and idk why I waited so long to watch it. This one made me feel and I'll probably think about it for a while.

It's a pretty movie, with some beautiful animation, good direction, realistic plot and dialogue, sad, emotional soundtrack and overall feeling, for the simps out there.
I can appreciate some things about this movie. It's special, it's minimalistic, it doesn't fall into anime cliches, it looks really good, it tugs on your heart strings but not in a manipulative way, and it feels real.
However, a big issue I had with this movie was that there was barely any plot. If you're not an emotional person you'll most likely get bored.
I don't know enough about the characters, even though they had an hour to develop that. I know
...
they feel, but I don't know why they feel. I couldn't really connect with them which is why the movie didn't have a big impact on me. It ended, and I was like "that's it?"
I think it's a good movie mostly because of style, but it's missing some substance. Some of you may be bigger slice of life fans than me and may find beauty in the simplistic, so if you are try watching this movie.
