The very "first" Final Fantasy movie. I thought the story was well done, and it sort of paid homage to the games if anything. The CGI work is incredible and was basically the main appeal in this movie. At the time and even still today it was cutting edge and so realistic that when I first saw the trailer I thought I was watching real actors. The music and sound effects are very well done, but the thing that stands out is the voice work. Square got some big name actors in this film like Alec Baldwin, Ving Rhames, Steve Buscemi, James Woods and Donald
...
Sutherland so as you would expect, the voices are pretty much flawless. Overall, as long as you don't go into this movie expecting anything Final Fantasy-like then you will enjoy it. Personally, I don't think this should have the name Final Fantasy because it's nothing like what the fans of the series know. It should have just been called The Spirits Within but overall, it's exciting and very entertaining. Reminds me of Halo in a way.

EVERYBODY has played the original Playstation classic, Final Fantasy 7. It was one of the best selling PSX games of all time and the very first 3D Final Fantasy game. It is also one of the most beloved in the entire franchise. Advent Children is part of a collection known as the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. This includes Crisis Core for the PSP, Dirge of Cerberus for the PS2, Before Crisis for mobile phones, and of course Advent Children. I don't even know where to begin with this film. I grew up with the game so I feel like I must write a proper
...
review for this amazing film so this will be much longer then my normal reviews.
Story: 10
The story I don't really need to get into because every Final Fantasy VII fan already knows what to expect when coming into this movie, plus if you wanna know it so bad you can just look at it's main page. All I can say is that wow, Square-Enix really pulled out all the stops for this one.
Art: 10
The art speaks for itself. It's one of the most beautiful films ever made. Every element of it's art direction is stellar beyond words. FF7 fans finally get to see these beloved characters in all their CG rendered glory. Cloud looks badass, a certain bad guy looks amazing, Tifa looks gorgeous as does Aerith. Water, fire, light, wind, sky..everything just looks amazing.
Sound: 10
Now I gave the sound section a 10 not so much because of the sound effects but because of the musical score that series veteran Nobuo Uematsu composed for this film. Every Final Fantasy fan loves his music and this movie is no exception. "Divinity Part 1 & 2" are incredibly hard hitting scores that really get you pumped up. "Aerith's Theme" is composed beautifully and is almost sad to listen to. But, my stand out track is of course "Advent: One Winged Angel". Sephiroth's infamous final battle theme song returns in an Orchestrated/Metal hybrid that defines the word EPIC!
Character: 7
Okay, this one didn't get a 10 because I was very disappointed in how 2 dimensional the characters are. The creators put more time into creating mindblowing battle sequences rather then fleshing out the characters. Mind you, they were all fleshed out in the PSX game so maybe that's why.
Enjoyment & Overall: 10
If you grew up with the series, chances are you have already seen this. A new director's cut is coming out soon on Blu-Ray called Advent Children: Complete which features new scenes and stuff so if you have not seen it yet, go for the Complete version. I haven't seen the Blu-Ray one. I bought this movie on it's release day on UMD PSP because all the damn DVD copies were sold out. When I watch this movie, I get a deep feeling of nostalgia. The game was funny, breath-taking, exciting and even heart-breaking. Those feelings will come back to you the moment you see Cloud, Tifa, Yuffie, Cid, and everyone else again as they come to life. As I write this review, I am listening to Aerith's theme from the soundtrack and I feel sad for some reason..

This...is one of the oddest yet greatest shows I've ever seen. The main plot revolves around assassin angels, pedophilia, repeated death, and explosive shitting. Yeah, sounds pretty fucked up doesn't it? I must admit though, I love the main character Dokuro-chan and the boy, I can't remember his name but yeah. Shes spunky and psychotic and that's what makes this show so enjoyable. The ending had me smiling, a few moments made me sad, and most if not all the episodes made me laugh my ass off. The title itself literally means Club-to-Death Angel. Yeah, whenever the boy does something to piss Dokuro-chan off, she
...
kills him in bloody, violent ways, and then just brings him back to life again because shes an angel and has that ability. I can't wait to begin watching Dokuro-chan 2 cause I'm sure it's going to be just as epic as this original series is!

Perfect Blue is one of those types of movies where if you don't watch it from start to finish and pay very close attention, it's going to screw with your head. At the end of the movie I was like O_O..."wait what!?" However, it does leave you feeling bad for the main character which is always the sign of a great story, which this one does have. It leans more towards adult viewers rather then teenagers mainly due to nudity, blood and 2 rape-ish scenes. Like it says on the DVD box art, if Alfred Hitchcock teamed up with Walt Disney, this would be their
...
creation. It's hard to explain the movie so just check it out if you're in the mood for a story driven anime rather then an action packed one. Even though the climax is pretty exciting in my own opinion. Oh and one more thing, I gave the only 10 to the sound mainly because both the Dubbed version and the original Japanese version are done perfectly. So watch whichever version suits you I suppose.

When I say the teaser trailer for this movie a year or so ago, I nearly crapped by pants in anticipation. I grew up with the video game series and I remember long, dark nights of sitting in front of my TV with my Playstation running Resident Evil 1. This is, as I stated in my About Me section, my favorite video game franchise. After Screen Gems took a huge runny dump over the series with the 3 live action movies, I was begging God for a CGI movie. Square Enix did it with Final Fantasy VII so why couldn't Capcom do it with RE?
...
Well thank God they did. I bought this movie on it's release day and I must say, it more then lived up to my expectations. It made me forget about the 3 live action abominations and for once, it felt like I was watching the games come to life. The story centers around Leon and Claire from Resident Evil 2 but I won't get into the plot. The animation is great, even though it feels more like a CGI cutscene from the games at times. The characters are well acted and portrayed the way they should be..except for Leon just because he seems like a mannequin at times. Alyson Court returns to play Claire just as she has in RE2 and RE:Code Veronica. Paul Mercier also returns from RE4 to once again play the voice of Leon which is fantastic fan-fare. The music is stellar once again, as all Resident Evil soundtracks are. It's not as action-packed as I had hoped, with a long section of the movie just leading up to the finale. Let me talk about the finale for a minute. It's incredible. I won't spoil it but it plays out just like EVERY Resident Evil game's finale has, pitting our heroes against an unforgiving mutation. Typical Resident Evil style and that's what we F'ing love! Overall, I would have liked to have seen more of the characters from the RE universe make a come back, but I guess they did in Resident Evil 5. Long story short, Capcom really knows how to treat their fans =)

What a horrible movie..And I don't mean horrible in like a PeeWee Herman or Micheal Jackson sorta way I mean horrible in a *cut wrist* sorta way. I'll admit that initially, since I had watched Grave of the Fireflies before this movie, that because the animation wasn't as realistic as it could have been that I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch it or not. However, I have always been interested in the events of World War 2 so I gave it a go. Wow...that's all I can really say. The story is something most of us already know. During WW2, the Enola Gay
...
dropped the Little Boy atomic bomb over Hiroshima. This movie is about that experience, but shown through the eyes of a little boy. I have never seen a movie that showed these horrific events in such detail. We see people getting burned alive, dying in the streets, suffering, attacking each other..Some of it is very hard to watch at times. I know that comparing this film to Grave of the Fireflies is unavoidable due to them both taking place during WW2, but I consider this to be the more horrific of the 2. Watch them both though, but if you're already depressed, don't bother till you are happy cause the chances of you coming away from this movie in a happy-go-lucky mood are slim to none.

Okay, I know some people are going to be like "WTF STRAIGHT 10's!? THATS SO UNREALISTIC YOU ANIME NOOB!" Whatever. In my eyes, this is the perfect animated film. I'm 17, and still hook up my VCR just so I can watch my retro VHS copy of this film. Everything about this movie just oozes with epicness and win. The artwork is gorgeous, the score for this movie is fantastic, the dubbing is easily one of the best for any anime and the story is perfect. In Japan, this movie is actually 3 seperate short movies but I guess when they released it in North
...
American theaters they edited all 3 together to great a story arc. I still have my soundtrack for this movie, and it still remains my favorite motion picture soundtrack. Even the freakin Digimon theme song is amazing. Though a little outdated, this movie has already imbedded itself as a classic. I will show this movie to my own kids one day, they will probably say THIS IS LAME but whatever. The characters are very well developed, and the first part of the film reminds me of a Godzilla movie. You have to see this movie if you haven't already. If you have seen it, watch it AGAIN and AGAIN, but I'm sure if you love it as much as I do, then you already are =)

When I originally saw this movie, I was around..7 years old I believe. One day, I was sitting in my living room playing my copy of Pokemon Red, when suddenly I heard "Calling all trainers!" As I watched, probably the most epic 60 seconds of my life flashed before my eyes with the final words saying "THE FIRST POKEMON MOVIE EVER! CATCH IT, NOVEMBER 12TH!" Now..I was 7..and Pokemon was God. This was the greatest moment ever to me. November 12th came along and I arrived with my dad and a bunch of other kids at a HUGE FREAKING LINEUP. When I bought my ticket,
...
I was handed a Dragonite Promo trading card and I squealed..I squealed like a Twilight fan girl. This movie is one of the first films I remember seeing in theaters and it left a huge impression on me. How else could I remember all these little memories? Even the title sequence where the pokeball opens up and MEWTWO STRIKES BACK flies into screen made me speechless. Today, I still love this movie and I saw it 10 years ago, that has to say something. The animation is still great by today's standards and even though Pokemon isn't nearly as popular as it once was, we will ALWAYS remember this film as the definitive pokemon film. Anybody who grew up with Pokemon who hasn't seen this movie..like maybe 3 of you, needs to get the dvd RIGHT NOW!

I guess I should start this review off by saying that if you have a weak stomach, don't bother watching this anime because it will most likely make you a tad bit sick. However, for sick puppies like myself who enjoy a little bloodshed ;) this sure as hell delivers. The first episode opens with like..10 minutes of the most violent scenes I've seen in anime. Just the opening itself tops most other entire series. Dismemberment, Lucy butt shots galore, Blood, Red mist..it has it all. I don't usually mention the plot in my reviews because you can just read the anime's main page to
...
get your fill of that. Anyway, this is a disturbing anime, with some scenes that might be a little hard for some to stomach. Little boys and the puppy, I'm looking at you! Lucy is a cold, calculated killing machine but when she reverts into her other personality Nyu, she becomes cute, charming and funny.....It just works trust me. Aside from the child molestation scene..yes I said I said CHILD MOLESTATION!!! CALL THE FBI OMG HAZ0RR!!!!111! LULZ...I don't really talk like that but anyway. Yeah, aside from the child molestation, the whole puppy scene, the odd incest-like relationship between the two lead characters and the atrocious english dub, I have to say this is easily one of my favorite animes. A masterpiece and beautifully crafted work of art that really hits you deep. Very recommended..in Japanese anyway, don't watch the dub..ever..the only good voice in the ENTIRE cast is Lucy's! Everyone else has a squeaky..pre-adolescent voice..it's unbareable. Stick with the original Japanese version and you're in for a treat ;D

I originally saw scenes from Azumanga Daioh during my viewings of the web series AMV Hell. I had no idea what it was but it seemed like an odd show that I had to check out so I decided to watch the first episode. Boy was I surprised at what I saw. For those who are new to this series, it's basically about the lives of a group of high school girls, all with unique and somewhat odd personalities. We have Chiyo-chan, a little girl who made it into high school due to her great intelligence. Sakaki, the quiet, athletic, cool girl who everyone admires.
...
Osaka, the air-headed and slow one, but easily my favorite character. There are others, just these 3 really stuck in my head as my favorite characters. The show has fantastic writing, great humor and a touching ending. My only complaint isn't so much about the show itself as it is with the dub. The dub is absolutely horrible. If you have already seen the dub then going to the original Japanese version might be a little hard but if you are just starting this series, please do yourself a favor and avoid the dubbed version.
