Surprisingly loveable modern say singer noob to star story mixed with a splash of three kingdoms Chinese strategy.
I didn't expect to like this anime so much going into it. The premise is a bit funky with the modern day isekai aspect but Kon makes the story interesting.
Pros:
Music sung by the MC was fun even though there is no improvements to the actual sound that progresses as it does through the story
The singing sequences were strangely expressive and had a lot of motion. I was surprised they put that much effort into the sequences even though some of the motions don't line up.

The con to this ... story was the use of the Rapper character that seemed thrown into the story. Kon said the rapper was crucial to success but the rapper doesn't add much to the story or the songs.
A small nitpick is Kon's ability to adapt so quickly and be okay with females in power even though the time period he was from didn't agree but the glossing over of this detail shifted the focus of the story to other things.

The sports anime of fashion. from underdogs to wonderdogs! Very uplifting feel-good show with light conflict and the appropriate amount of technical worldbuilding.

I knew nothing about the world of runway models and designers besides what I saw on tv shows and I can say that I learned more from this anime than however many season I watched of the reality tv shows. Would I be able to use this knowledge? No, but I am more educated and have more enjoyment of fashion having watched this anime.

A lot of the components that make up this anime is just okay but it has a feel-good happy vibe ... that had me smiling all the way through. The conclusion was especially fitting and satisfying.

Overall this anime is nothing special. The art doesn't stand out, the characters are passable.
The story plays out like a mystery. You aren't sure what is going on in the beginning and have to piece everything back together. halfway through the story, it turns into a huge tragedy with everyone dying, nothing going right, and the world is ending.
While there are some points that made me cry, it's only because I'm a big sap. Other than that, you don't feel enough connection to the characters and only feel a vague sense of "oh man that sucks"
there are also some story and plot elements that are ... interesting but that doesn't save this anime from being just passable.
The whole time I watched it, I kept questioning if I should finish the rest or not, in the end, I managed to push through but I don't feel very good about it. Part of it is because I don't particularly enjoy a tragedy but...

Overall a decent animation and story but nothing to write home about.

The story was comprehensible and was put together which is more than I can say for most of the Chinese cultivation stories.

A typical over powered main character in a cultivation world that tries to be a normie but fails because he is too op. Also has the obnoxious popular love interest that is head over heels for our mc and the token muscle head and fat sidekick (a super offensive but prevalent trope in Chinese cultivation stories).

There isn't much depth to the characters or plot but it does have a splash of character comedy ... derived from stereotypes and cartoonish skits using tropes that are so overused they are cliche.

I can see how the story may be confusing for those that aren't familiar with the genre as they don't explain any of the cultivation concepts but no explanation is needed because the story is flat and doesn't require that type of world building to understand.

watched both the dub and the sub. The dub is cringe-worthy. They use a lot of "trendy slang" like "sup my dude" and "swole" which made me want to bash my head in each time I heard it. In comparison, the sub is far better since they don't make Rimuru so childish. Not only that but the dub takes away Rimuru's credibility as a leader. They make him seem like a childish perv who just wants to fool around.
I can't say I'm a fan of the 2d like art style but it does match the light-hearted nature of the story. It also matched the artwork ... depicted in the light novel so I guess I can't really complain.
For the first season, the ones in charge of framing scenes and choosing how to depict them did not do a very good job. A lot of the framing was head on and didn't depict Rimuru's thoughts from actual speak very well. In comparison, the second season had a glow up! I much prefer the separation in thoughts vs speaking with the animated thought bubbles.

What if VR imitated real life? Pain 80%, consequences 10000%, and trash humans 98%.
Overall an interesting conflict and story but watching the MC struggle through all of it leaves a bad aftertaste because he doesn't gain anything from struggling so hard and everyone in the game is messed up. I get second-hand embarrassment watching the MC screw up his second chance at life and not being able to do anything about it.
Plus, the MC is a loser and doesn't even try to better himself in the first few episodes. He doesn't have any charm and it is more than a little annoying watching him make ... one bad mistake after the other, the biggest mistake being continuing to play this game in the first place
