Koutetsujou no Kabaneri

Like seriously...if you're going to tell me Kabaneri is not an AoT ripoff...go home. Both protagonists have major temper issues and one-track "kill 'em all" mentalities because of some tragic loss of a family member. Both protagonists are half-human, half-whatever monster they're trying to fight against, and ostracized by rest of society for it. Both have a cool, badass girl who rarely makes any sense as a character and is really just there to promote feminism. That said, the Attack on Titan universe is more well-constructed than Kabaneri and makes a lot more sense. AoT is also more plot-driven while Kabaneri appears to be trying to be more character-driven.

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch
add

Code Geass is essentially a "down to earth" (literally) version of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and I don't mean that in a condescending way. Since the basic plot and characters are similar, I thought I'd outline some of the main differences between the two shows. Oh, and I'm also writing this under the assumption that people like these shows primarily because of the strategy behind the battles. Some minor spoilers may be included. You have been warned. Legend of Galactic Heroes 1. There are Lelouches on both sides (i.e. people other than Lelouch are not portrayed as whimpering idiots). 2. There is none of that "I have the Nightmare with more guns than you so I win" crap. Actual strategy and tactics are demonstrated throughout the whole show - formation, movement, timing, geography etc. 3. Suzaku, the ridiculous idealist who must say and do what he thinks is right, doesn't exist (replaced by a slightly less vocal Kircheis). 4. At one point, LoGH becomes difficult to follow which its detailed storyline, huge cast of characters and the lengthy timeline over which the show spans. 5. There are no supernatural powers that allow you to control people. Both commanders don't start from zero in the first place, so they have no need for Geass. Lelouch didn't need Geass as much once he established himself either. Code Geass 1. Lelouch actually loses...many times. Maybe it's just me, but I swear the main commanders in LoGH don't ever "lose"; Reinhard wins by decimating the Alliance's forces, but Yang also wins because he pulled off a miraculous retreat - everybody wins! Yeah...no. 2. CG definitely has better graphics. Something from 1988 just can't compare... 3. Reinhard, the super-genius robot, doesn't exist (replaced by a slightly more human Lelouch). 4. I feel CG, even without Geass, is less realistic in general; by less realistic, I mean there are "unbelievable coincidences" happening all over the place. 5. There are more obvious plot holes. For example, the fact that Lelouch never commands anyone to obey all his commands (until the end of R2)...is a major one. Watch whichever. Hell, watch both. Even if I don't sound very supportive, I really think they're both amazing.

D.Gray-man
add

Plotwise, both series start off light and fluffy, but all of a sudden become dark and angsty after the story picks up; however, I would say the most similar thing between the two is the characters. In D. Gray Man, you have Allen, who is rather easy-going but fiercely dedicated to his mission when need be. His counterpart in Tsubasa would be Syaoran, who is an all-around friendly guy, but when it comes to the princess, he can be a little overprotective. Lenalee cares about her friends a lot in D. Gray Man, and Sakura does the same in Tsubasa. Lavi is the jokester who is challenged by his difficult mission, and Fai is the playful magician with a dark past. Likewise, Kanda is the strong and silent type, and is matched by Kurogane in Tsubasa. The characters are almost mirror images of each other.

Noblesse
add

This is probably the best recommendation I can make for Noblesse at the moment, but by no means is it the best recommendation I can make for Vampire Knight. To be blunt, Vampire Knight is a shoujo-Noblesse (and likewise, Noblesse is a shounen-Vampire Knight). Noblesse is like Vampire Knight taken to the extreme (without romance). Regardless, at the core of their stories, they're essentially the same. In both Noblesse and Vampire Knight, there are two central "factions" that are co-operating with each other, but seeking to overthrow each other at the same time. In Vampire Knight, this is the Hunter's Association and the Senior Council of Vampires; in Noblesse, this is the Union and the Nobles. Both main characters (Kaname in Vampire Knight and Rai in Noblesse) are put in difficult positions because of events that happen before the beginning of the series, and forced to fight against both sides. Luckily, they're both insanely strong vampires, so they always manage to fend off their foes and protect their friends. If you're looking for a sustained conflict, I would recommend Noblesse. If you're looking for a love story, I would recommend Vampire Knight. If you're just looking for vampires, either is a delightful joy ride.

Higashi no Eden
add

Both Higashi no Eden and Chaos Head have a main character who is thrown into a difficult situation with no recollection of their past. They both have the ability to change the world. Higashi no Eden is slightly more realistic while Chaos Head has a lot of supernatural elements, but they both take you on a short 13 episode suspenseful joy ride that just leaves you hungry for more.

Kaze no Stigma

Honestly, the only thing that kept me watching in both these animes is that the main character is really strong and beats the hell out of everyone. So if you liked Kaze no Stigma or Black Cat for that reason, you'll probably like the other too.

In both, the main character looks up to an older character. (In Tegami Bachi, Lag wants to be a Letter Bee like Gauche; in 07 Ghost, Teito wants to be a Bishop like Frau.) Both main characters have an red-coloured special stone lodged in their bodies: spirit amber in Lag's eye and Eye of Mikhail in Teito's hand. This grants them special powers that no one else has. In addition, both animes have a monster-like creature that is the focus of the story's plot. In Tegami Bachi, it's the gaichuu; in 07 Ghost, it's the Kor. All in all, very similar.
